Next-to-leading order QCD corrections to ttbb production at the LHC

In this contribution, we summarize the results from an NLO computation of the production of ttbb in hadronic collisions. The results are obtained by combining two programs: Helac-1Loop, based on the OPP method and the reduction code CutTools, for the virtual one-loop matrix elements and Helac-Dipoles for the real-emission contributions. Selected numerical results are presented for the LHC.

Helac-Phegas: a generator for all parton level processes

The updated version of the Helac-Phegas event generator is presented. The matrix elements are calculated through Dyson-Schwinger recursive equations. Helac-Phegas generates parton-level events with all necessary information, in the most recent Les Houches Accord format, for the study of any process within the Standard Model in hadron and lepton colliders.

Monte Carlo Generators for the LHC

The status of two Monte Carlo generators, HELAC-PHEGAS, a program for multi-jet processes and VBFNLO, a parton level program for vector boson fusion processes at NLO QCD, is briefly presented. The aim of these tools is the simulation of events within the Standard Model at current and future high energy experiments, in particular the LHC. Some results related to the production of multi-jet final states at the LHC are also shown.

Multi-parton Cross Sections at Hadron Colliders

We present an alternative method to calculate cross sections for multi-parton scattering processes in the Standard Model at leading order. The helicity amplitudes are computed using recursion relations in the number of particles, based on Dyson-Schwinger equations whereas the summation over colour and helicity configurations is performed by Monte Carlo methods. The computational cost of our algorithm grows asymptotically as 3^n, where n is the number of particles involved in the process, as opposed to the n!-growth of the Feynman diagram approach. Typical results for the total cross section, differential distributions of invariant masses and transverse momenta of partons are presented and cross checked by explicit summation over colours.

Multi-Particle Processes in the Standard Model without Feynman Diagrams

A method to efficiently compute, in a automatic way, helicity amplitudes for arbitrary scattering processes at leading order in the Standard Model is presented. The scattering amplitude is evaluated recursively through a set of Dyson-Schwinger equations. The computational cost of this algorithm grows asymptotically as 3^n, where n is the number of particles involved in the process, compared to n! in the traditional Feynman graphs approach. Unitary gauge is used and mass effects are available as well. Additionally, the color and helicity structures are appropriately transformed so the usual summation is replaced by Monte Carlo techniques. Some results related to the production of vector bosons and the Higgs boson in association with jets are also presented.

CP violation in B0_d --> tau+ tau- decays

Establishing CP violation in B0 (bar{B0}) --> l+ l- decays requires a measurement of polarization of the final lepton pair, or a precise determination of the B0 --> l+ l- and bar{B0} --> l+ l- rates. We first argue that if the amplitudes of these decays are dominated by the scalar and pseudoscalar Higgs penguin diagrams, as happens e.g. in supersymmetry with large tan(beta), the CP asymmetries depend practically on only one CP violating phase. This phase can be large, of the order of the CKM phase, leading to large CP asymmetries in the tau+ tau- decay channel of B0_d (bar{B0}_d) mesons, potentially measurable in BELLE or BABAR experiments. Secondly, we show that the existing TAUOLA tau-lepton decay library supplemented by its universal interface can efficiently be used to search for B0 (bar{B0}) --> tau+ tau- decays, and to investigate how the CP asymmetry is reflected in realistic experimental observables.

The method to determine the CP nature of Higgs bosons from decays to tau leptons at LC

We demonstrate how the transverse tau tau spin correlations can be used to determine whether a decaying Higgs boson is a mixed CP eigenstate, thereby directly probe the presence of CP violation in the neutral Higgs boson sector. We investigate the subsequent decay chain H --> tau+ tau- --> rho+ nu rho- nu --> pi+ pi0 nu pi- pi0 nu. The prospects for the measurement of the pseudoscalar admixture in the H-tau-tau coupling to a Standard Model Higgs boson with a mass of 120 GeV are quantified for the case of e+e- collisions at 350 GeV center-of-mass energy and 1 ab^{-1} integrated luminosity. The Standard Model Higgsstrahlung production process is used as an example.

Higgs CP from H/A -> tau tau decay

We show how the transverse tau tau spin correlations can be used to measure the parity of the Higgs boson and hence to distinguish a CP-even H boson from CP-odd A in the future high energy accelerator experiments. We investigate the subsequent decays of the tau into pi nu and rho nu. The prospects for the measurement of the Higgs boson parity with a mass of 120 GeV are quantified for the case of e+ e- collisions of 500 GeV center of mass energy. The Standard Model Higgsstrahlung production process is used as an example.
