Homological $n$-systole in $(n+1)$-manifolds and bi-Ricci curvature

In this paper, we prove an optimal systolic inequality and the corresponding rigidity in the equality case on closed manifolds with positive bi-Ricci curvature, which generalizes the work of Bray-Brendle-Neves. The proof is given in all dimensions based on the method of minimal surfaces under the Generic Regularity Hypothesis, which is known to be true up to dimension ten.

On Kähler manifolds with non-negative mixed curvature

In this work, we investigate compact Kähler manifolds with non-negative or quasi-positive mixed curvature coming from a linear combination of the Ricci and holomorphic sectional curvature, which covers various notions of curvature considered in the literature. Specifically, we prove a splitting theorem, analogous to the Cheeger-Gromoll splitting theorem, for complete Kähler manifolds with non-negative mixed curvature containing a line, and then establish a structure theorem for compact Kähler manifolds with non-negative mixed curvature. We also show that the Hodge numbers of compact Kähler manifolds with quasi-positive mixed curvature must vanish. Both results are based on the conformal perturbation method.

Llarull's theorem on punctured sphere with $L^\infty$ metric

The classical Llarull theorem states that a smooth metric on $n$-sphere cannot have scalar curvature no less than $n(n-1)$ and dominate the standard spherical metric at the same time unless it is the standard spherical metric. In this work, we prove that Llarull's rigidity theorem holds for $L^{\infty}$ metrics on spheres with finitely many points punctured. This is related to a question of Gromov.

Expanding Ricci solitons coming out of weakly PIC1 metric cones

Motivated by recent work of Deruelle-Schulze-Simon, we study complete weakly PIC1 Ricci flows with Euclidean volume growth coming out of metric cones. We show that such a Ricci flow must be an expanding gradient Ricci soliton, and as a consequence, any metric cone at infinity of a complete weakly PIC1 Kähler manifold with Euclidean volume growth is biholomorphic to complex Euclidean space in a canonical way.

Rigidity of area non-increasing maps

In this work, we consider the area non-increasing map between manifolds with positive curvature. By exploring the strong maximum principle along the graphical mean curvature flow, we show that an area non-increasing map between certain positively curved manifolds is either homotopy trivial, Riemannian submersion, local isometry or isometric immersion. This implies that an area non-increasing self map of $\mathbb{CP}^n$, $n\ge 2$ is either homotopically trivial or is an isometry. This confirms a speculation of Tsai-Tsui-Wang. We also use Brendle's sphere Theorem and mean curvature flow coupled with Ricci flow to establish related results on manifolds with positive $1$-isotropic curvature.

Gap Theorem on Riemannian manifolds using Ricci flow

In this work, we use the Ricci flow approach to study the gap phenomenon of Riemannian manifolds with non-negative curvature and sub-critical scaling invariant curvature decay. The first main result is a quantitative Ricci flow existence theory without non-collapsing assumption. We use it to show that complete non-compact manifolds with non-negative complex sectional curvature and sufficiently small average curvature decay are necessarily flat. The second main result concerns three-manifolds with non-negative Ricci curvature of quadratic decay. By combining our newly established curvature estimate and method in Kähler geometry, we show that if the curvature decays slightly faster even in average sense, the manifold must be flat. This strengthens a result of Reiris. In the compact case, we use the Ricci flow regularization to generalize the celebrated Gromov-Ruh Theorem in this direction.

Ricci Flow under Kato-type curvature lower bound

In this work, we extend the existence theory of non-collapsed Ricci flows from point-wise curvature lower bound to Kato-type lower bound. As an application, we prove that compact three dimensional non-collapsed strong Kato limit space is homeomorphic to a smooth manifold. The result also holds in higher dimension under uniform strong Kato lower bound of 1-isotropic curvature. We also use the Ricci flow smoothing to study stability problem in scalar curvature geometry.

Time zero regularity of Ricci flow

We consider the problem of when a smooth Ricci flow, for positive time, that attains smooth initial data in a weak sense must be smooth down to the initial time. We obtain curvature estimates for an example where this fails. We prove a positive result in the case that the flow satisfies a lower IC1 curvature bound, equivalent to a lower Ricci bound in three dimensions. As an application, we prove that Gromov-Hausdorff limits of WPIC1 manifolds are WPIC1.

Singular positive mass theorem with arbitrary ends

Motivated by the recent progress on positive mass theorem for asymptotically flat manifolds with arbitrary ends and the Gromov's definition of scalar curvature lower bound for continuous metrics, we start a program on the positive mass theorem for asymptotically flat manifolds with $C^0$ arbitrary ends. In this work as the first step, we establish the positive mass theorem of asymptotically flat manifolds with $C^0$ arbitrary ends when the metric is $W^{1,p}_{\mathrm{loc}}$ for some $p\in(n,\infty]$ and is smooth away from a non-compact closed subset with Hausdorff dimension $n-\frac{p}{p-1}$. New techniques are developed to deal with non-compactness of the singular set.

Scalar curvature lower bound under integral convergence

In this work, we consider sequences of $C^2$ metrics which converge to a $C^2$ metric in $C^0$ sense. We show that if the scalar curvature of the sequence is almost non-negative in the integral sense, then the limiting metric has scalar curvature lower bound in point-wise sense.

Rigidity on non-negative intermediate curvature

In a recent work of Brendle-Hirsch-Johne, a notion of intermediate curvature was introduced to extend the classical non-existence theorem of positive scalar curvature on torus to product manifolds. In this work, we study the rigidity when the intermediate curvature is only non-negative when the ambient dimension is at most $5$.

Rigidity of Lipschitz map using harmonic map heat flow

Motivated by the Lipschitz rigidity problem in scalar curvature geometry, we prove that if a closed smooth spin manifold admits a distance decreasing continuous map of non-zero degree to a sphere, then either the scalar curvature is strictly less than the sphere somewhere or the map is a distance isometry. Moreover, the property also holds for continuous metrics with scalar curvature lower bound in some weak sense. This extends a result in the recent work of Cecchini-Hanke-Schick and answers a question of Gromov. The method is based on studying the harmonic map heat flow coupled with the Ricci flow from rough initial data to reduce the case to smooth metrics and smooth maps so that results by Llarull can be applied.

Manifolds with small curvature concentration

In this work, we construct distance like functions with integral hessian bound on manifolds with small curvature concentration and use it to construct Ricci flows on manifolds with possibly unbounded curvature. As an application, we study the geometric structure of those manifolds without bounded curvature assumption. In particular, we show that manifolds with Ricci lower bound, non-negative scalar curvature, bounded entropy, Ahlfors $n$-regular and small curvature concentration are topologically Euclidean.

Kähler manifolds and mixed curvature

In this work we consider compact Kähler manifolds with non-positive mixed curvature which is a "convex combination" of Ricci curvature and holomorphic sectional curvature. We show that in this case, the canonical line bundle is nef. Moreover, if the curvature is negative at some point, then the manifold is projective with canonical line bundle being big and nef. If in addition the curvature is negative, then the canonical line bundle is ample. As an application, we answer a question of Ni concerning manifolds with negative $k$-Ricci curvature and generalize a result of Wu-Yau and Diverio-Trapani to the conformally Kähler case. We also show that the compact Kähler manifold is projective and simply connected if the mixed curvature is positive.

Ricci-Deturck flow from rough metrics and applications

Motivated by the recent work of Lamm and Simon, in this work we study the short-time existence theory of Ricci-Deturck flow starting from rough metrics which are bi-Lipschitz and have small local scaling invariant gradient concentration. As applications, we use it to study several stability problems related to the scalar curvature.

Kähler tori with almost non-negative scalar curvature

Motivated by the torus stability problem, in this work we study Kähler metrics with almost non-negative scalar curvature on complex torus. We prove that after passing to a subsequence, non-collapsing sequence of Kähler metrics with almost non-negative scalar curvature will converge to flat torus weakly.
