FireRedAudio: A General-Purpose Audio Language Model with Decoupled Continuous Representations for Understanding and Generation

A unified audio model must recognize and understand linguistic, paralinguistic, and environmental information while supporting speech synthesis and editing. A key challenge is representation: understanding favors compact features suited to long-context modeling, whereas speech generation requires reconstructible features that preserve fine-grained acoustic detail. We introduce FireRedAudio, a general-purpose audio language model with a shared 9B-parameter LLM. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first publicly disclosed unified audio-language model to provide separate continuous input representations for understanding and generation within a single trainable autoregressive LLM. Audio to be recognized or analyzed is processed by a dedicated Audio Encoder, while speech inputs for generation use a RedAE-based pathway. The LLM directly generates text or conditions a flow-matching DiT to produce continuous acoustic latents. Through progressive multitask training, FireRedAudio supports ASR and audio understanding, with the latter extending to recordings of up to one hour, as well as zero-shot TTS, Instruct TTS, and semantic and acoustic speech editing. Its structured organization of long-form audio achieves second-level timestamp accuracy. Across comprehensive evaluations, FireRedAudio achieves competitive or leading performance in audio understanding and multilingual ASR, strong content accuracy and speaker preservation in zero-shot TTS, leading instruction following in Instruct TTS, and substantial improvements over Ming-UniAudio-Edit in both semantic and acoustic speech editing. These results demonstrate the viability of decoupled continuous input representations for unifying audio understanding and continuous-latent speech generation in a model of moderate scale. FireRedChat: A Pluggable, Full-Duplex Voice Interaction System with Cascaded and Semi-Cascaded Implementations

Full-duplex voice interaction allows users and agents to speak simultaneously with controllable barge-in, enabling lifelike assistants and customer service. Existing solutions are either end-to-end, difficult to design and hard to control, or modular pipelines governed by turn-taking controllers that ease upgrades and per-module optimization; however, prior modular frameworks depend on non-open components and external providers, limiting holistic optimization. In this work, we present a complete, practical full-duplex voice interaction system comprising a turn-taking controller, an interaction module, and a dialogue manager. The controller integrates streaming personalized VAD (pVAD) to suppress false barge-ins from noise and non-primary speakers, precisely timestamp primary-speaker segments, and explicitly enable primary-speaker barge-ins; a semantic end-of-turn detector improves stop decisions. It upgrades heterogeneous half-duplex pipelines, cascaded, semi-cascaded, and speech-to-speech, to full duplex. Using internal models, we implement cascaded and semi-cascaded variants; the semi-cascaded one captures emotional and paralinguistic cues, yields more coherent responses, lowers latency and error propagation, and improves robustness. A dialogue manager extends capabilities via tool invocation and context management. We also propose three system-level metrics, barge-in, end-of-turn detection accuracy, and end-to-end latency, to assess naturalness, control accuracy, and efficiency. Experiments show fewer false interruptions, more accurate semantic ends, and lower latency approaching industrial systems, enabling robust, natural, real-time full-duplex interaction. Melody-Guided Music Generation

We present the Melody-Guided Music Generation (MG2) model, a novel approach using melody to guide the text-to-music generation that, despite a simple method and limited resources, achieves excellent performance. Specifically, we first align the text with audio waveforms and their associated melodies using the newly proposed Contrastive Language-Music Pretraining, enabling the learned text representation fused with implicit melody information. Subsequently, we condition the retrieval-augmented diffusion module on both text prompt and retrieved melody. This allows MG2 to generate music that reflects the content of the given text description, meantime keeping the intrinsic harmony under the guidance of explicit melody information. We conducted extensive experiments on two public datasets: MusicCaps and MusicBench. Surprisingly, the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed MG2 model surpasses current open-source text-to-music generation models, achieving this with fewer than 1/3 of the parameters or less than 1/200 of the training data compared to state-of-the-art counterparts. Furthermore, we conducted comprehensive human evaluations involving three types of users and five perspectives, using newly designed questionnaires to explore the potential real-world applications of MG2.
