H\"older Inequalities for Besov-Morrey and Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey Spaces

In this paper we prove H\"older inequalities for the Besov-Morrey spaces $ \mathcal{N}^{s}_{u,p,q}(\mathbb{R}^{d}) $ and the Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey spaces $ \mathcal{E}^{s}_{u,p,q}(\mathbb{R}^{d}) $. We observe that these Morrey smoothness spaces are pointwise multiplier spaces if certain conditions concerning the parameters also including $ s > d \max ( 0, \frac{1}{p} - 1) $ are fulfilled. In this context we significantly generalize the H\"older inequalities for the original Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin spaces obtained by Sickel and Triebel in 1995. For the proofs we use paramultiplication and some Franke-Jawerth embeddings obtained by Haroske and Skrzypczak.

On the boundedness of dilation operators in the context of Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey spaces

In this paper we study the behavior of dilation operators $ D_\lambda \colon f \mapsto f(\lambda\,\cdot) $ with $ \lambda > 1 $ in the context of Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey spaces $\mathcal{E}^{s}_{u,p,q}(\mathbb{R}^d)$. For that purpose we prove upper and lower bounds for the operator (quasi-)norm $\| D_\lambda \,|\, \mathcal{L}\big(\mathcal{E}^s_{u,p,q}(\mathbb{R}^d)\big) \| $. We show that for $s>\sigma_p $ the operator (quasi-)norm $\| D_\lambda \,|\, \mathcal{L}\big(\mathcal{E}^s_{u,p,q}(\mathbb{R}^d)\big) \| $ up to constants behaves as $\lambda^{s - \frac{d}{u}} $. For the borderline case $ s = \sigma_{p} $ we observe a behavior of the form $\lambda^{\sigma_p- \frac{d}{u}}$, multiplied with logarithmic terms of $\lambda$ that also depend on the fine index $q$. For $s < \sigma_{p}$ and $p \geq 1$ we find the relation $\| D_\lambda \,|\, \mathcal{L}\big(\mathcal{E}^s_{u,p,q}(\mathbb{R}^d)\big) \| \sim \lambda^{ - \frac{d}{u}}$. The case $s < \sigma_{p}$ and $p < 1$ is investigated as well. Our proofs are mainly based on the Fourier analytic approach to Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey spaces. As byproducts we show an advanced Fourier multiplier theorem for band-limited functions in the context of Morrey spaces and derive some new equivalent (quasi-)norms and characterizations of $\mathcal{E}^{s}_{u,p,q}(\mathbb{R}^d)$. Adaptive Bivariate Quarklet Tree Approximation via Anisotropic Tensor Quarklets

This paper deals with near-best approximation of a given bivariate function using elements of quarkonial tensor frames. For that purpose we apply anisotropic tensor products of the univariate B-spline quarklets introduced around 2017 by Dahlke, Keding and Raasch. We introduce the concept of bivariate quarklet trees and develop an adaptive algorithm which allows for generalized hp-approximation of a given bivariate function by selected frame elements. It is proved that this algorithm is near-best, which means that as long as some standard conditions concerning local errors are fulfilled it provides an approximation with an error close to that one of the best possible quarklet tree approximation. For this algorithm the complexity is investigated. Moreover, we use our techniques to approximate a bivariate test function with inverse-exponential rates of convergence. It can be expected that the results presented in this paper serve as important building block for the design of adaptive wavelet-hp-methods for solving PDEs in the bivariate setting with very good convergence properties.

Oscillations and differences in Besov-Morrey and Besov-type spaces

In this paper we investigate Besov-Morrey spaces $\mathcal{N}^{s}_{u,p,q}(Ω)$ and Besov-type spaces $B^{s,τ}_{p,q}(Ω)$ of positive smoothness defined on Lipschitz domains $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^d$ as well as on $\mathbb{R}^d$. We combine the Hedberg-Netrusov approach to function spaces with distinguished kernel representations due to Triebel, in order to derive novel characterizations of these scales in terms of local oscillations provided that some standard conditions concerning the parameters are fulfilled. In connection with that we also obtain new characterizations of $\mathcal{N}^{s}_{u,p,q}(Ω)$ and $B^{s,τ}_{p,q}(Ω)$ via differences of higher order. By the way we recover and extend corresponding results for the scale of classical Besov spaces $B^{s}_{p,q}(Ω)$. Quarklet Characterizations for bivariate Bessel-Potential Spaces on the Unit Square via Tensor Products

In this paper we deduce new characterizations for bivariate Bessel-Potential spaces defined on the unit square via B-spline quarklets. For that purpose in a first step we use univariate boundary adapted quarklets to describe univariate Bessel-Potential spaces on intervals. To obtain the bivariate characterizations a recent result of Hansen and Sickel is applied. It yields that each bivariate Bessel-Potential space on a square can be written as an intersection of function spaces which have a tensor product structure. Hence our main result is a characterization of bivariate Bessel-Potential spaces on squares in terms of quarklets that are tensor products of univariate quarklets on intervals.

Oscillations and differences in Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey spaces

In this paper we are concerned with Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey spaces $\mathcal{E}^{s}_{u,p,q}(Ω)$ of positive smoothness $s$ defined on (special or bounded) Lipschitz domains $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^d$ as well as on $\mathbb{R}^d$. For those spaces we prove new equivalent characterizations in terms of local oscillations which hold as long as some standard conditions on the parameters are fulfilled. As a byproduct, we also obtain novel characterizations of $\mathcal{E}^{s}_{u,p,q}(Ω)$ using differences of higher order. Special cases include standard Triebel-Lizorkin spaces $F^s_{p,q} (Ω)$ and hence classical $L_p$-Sobolev spaces $H^s_p(Ω)$. Adaptive Quarklet Tree Approximation

This paper is concerned with near-optimal approximation of a given function $f \in L_2([0,1])$ with elements of a polynomially enriched wavelet frame, a so-called quarklet frame. Inspired by $hp$-approximation techniques of Binev, we use the underlying tree structure of the frame elements to derive an adaptive algorithm that, under standard assumptions concerning the local errors, can be used to create approximations with an error close to the best tree approximation error for a given cardinality. We support our findings by numerical experiments demonstrating that this approach can be used to achieve inverse-exponential convergence rates.

B-Spline Quarklets and Biorthogonal Multiwavelets

We show that B-spline quarks and the associated quarklets fit into the theory of biorthogonal multiwavelets. Quark vectors are used to define sequences of subspaces $ V_{p,j} $ of $ L_{2}(\mathbb{R}) $ which fulfill almost all conditions of a multiresolution analysis. Under some special conditions on the parameters they even satisfy all those properties. Moreover we prove that quarks and quarklets possess modulation matrices which fulfill the perfect reconstruction condition. Furthermore we show the existence of generalized dual quarks and quarklets which are known to be at least compactly supported tempered distributions from $\mathcal{S}'(\mathbb{R})$. Finally we also verify that quarks and quarklets can be used to define sequences of subspaces $ W_{p,j} $ of $ L_{2}(\mathbb{R}) $ that yield non-orthogonal decompositions of $ L_{2}(\mathbb{R}) $.

Quarklet Characterizations for Triebel-Lizorkin Spaces

In this paper we prove that under some conditions on the parameters the one-dimensional Triebel-Lizorkin spaces $ F^{s}_{r,q}(\mathbb{R}) $ can be described in terms of quarklets. So for functions from Triebel-Lizorkin spaces we obtain a quarkonial decomposition as well as a new equivalent quasi-norm. For that purpose we use quarklets that are constructed out of biorthogonal compactly supported Cohen-Daubechies-Feauveau spline wavelets, where the primal generator is a cardinal B-spline. Moreover we introduce some sequence spaces apposite to our quarklet system and study their properties. Finally we also obtain a quarklet characterization for the Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey spaces $ \mathcal{E}^{s}_{u,r,q}(\mathbb{R}) $.

Besov-Morrey spaces and differences (extended version)

We study the Besov-Morrey spaces $ \mathcal{N}^{s}_{u,p,q}(\mathbb{R}^{d}) $ and show that under certain conditions on the parameters these spaces can be characterized in terms of higher-order differences. Furthermore we prove that some of the mentioned conditions are also necessary.

Truncation in Besov-Morrey and Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey spaces

We will prove that under certain conditions on the parameters the operators $T^{+}f = \max(f,0)$ and $ Tf = |f| $ are bounded mappings on the Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey and Besov-Morrey spaces. Moreover we will show that some of the conditions we mentioned before are also necessary. Furthermore we prove that for $p < u $ in many cases the Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey spaces do not have the Fubini property.

Complex Interpolation of Lizorkin-Triebel-Morrey Spaces on Domains

In this article the authors study complex interpolation of Sobolev-Morrey spaces and their generalizations, Lizorkin-Triebel-Morrey spaces. Both scales are considered on bounded domains. Under certain conditions on the parameters the outcome belongs to the scale of the so-called diamond spaces.
