Investigating the Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy between two coherent states in relativistic Quantum Field Theory

A numerical setup for investigating the Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy between two coherent states is presented for a scalar massive Quantum Field Theory in ($1+1$)-dimensional Minkowski spacetime. These states are constructed using smeared Weyl operators compactly supported in two diamond regions belonging to the right Rindler wedge. Using this setup, we verified the known properties of the relative entropy, namely: positivity, increase with the size of the spacetime regions considered, decrease with the increase of the mass parameter. A linear increase with respect to the spatial distance between the two diamond regions is also observed.

A numerical analysis of Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy in Quantum Field Theory

We numerically investigate the Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy in Quantum Field Theory, focusing on a free massive scalar field in 1+1-dimensional Minkowski spacetime. Using Tomita-Takesaki modular theory, we analyze the relative entropy between a coherent state and the vacuum state, with several types of test functions localized in the right Rindler wedge. Our results confirm that relative entropy decreases with increasing mass and grows with the size of the spacetime region, aligning with theoretical expectations.

Relative entropy of single-mode squeezed states in Quantum Field Theory

Utilizing the Tomita-Takesaki modular theory, we derive a closed-form analytic expression for the Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy between a single-mode squeezed state and the vacuum state in a free relativistic massive scalar Quantum Field Theory within wedge regions of Minkowski spacetime. Similarly to the case of coherent states, this relative entropy is proportional to the smeared Pauli-Jordan distribution. Consequently, the Araki-Uhlmann entropy between a single-mode squeezed state and the vacuum satisfies all expected properties: it remains positive, increases with the size of the Minkowski region under consideration, and decreases as the mass parameter grows.

Numerical approach to the Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality in quantum field theory

The Bell-CHSH (Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt) inequality in the vacuum state of a relativistic scalar quantum field is analyzed. Using Weyl operators built with smeared fields localized in the Rindler wedges, the Bell-CHSH inequality is expressed in terms of the Lorentz invariant inner products of test functions. A numerical framework for these inner products is devised. Causality is also explicitly checked by a numerical evaluation of the Pauli-Jordan function. Violations of the Bell-CHSH inequality are reported for different values of the particle mass parameter.

Ghost-gluon vertex in the presence of the Gribov horizon: General kinematics

Correlation functions are important probes for the behavior of quantum field theories. Already at tree-level, the Refined Gribov Zwanziger (RGZ) effective action for Yang-Mills theories provides a good approximation for the gluon propagator, as compared to that calculated by nonperturbative methods such as Lattice Field Theory and Dyson-Schwinger Equations. However, the study of higher correlation functions of the RGZ theory is still at its beginning. In this work we evaluate the ghost-antighost-gluon vertex function in Landau gauge at one-loop level, in $d=4$ space-time dimensions for the gauge groups SU(2) and SU(3). More precisely, we extend the analysis conducted in [1] for the soft-gluon limit to an arbitrary kinematic configuration. We introduce renormalization group effects by means of a toy model for the running coupling and investigate the impact of such a model in the ultraviolet tails of our results. We find that RGZ results match fairly closely those from lattice simulations, Schwinger-Dyson equations and the Curci-Ferrari model for three different kinematic configurations. This is compatible with RGZ being a feasible theory for the strong interaction in the infrared regime.

Unruh-De Witt detectors, Bell-CHSH inequality and Tomita-Takesaki theory

The interaction between Unruh-De Witt spin $1/2$ detectors and a real scalar field is scrutinized by making use of the Tomita-Takesaki modular theory as applied to the Von Neumann algebra of the Weyl operators. The use of the modular theory enables to evaluate in an exact way the trace over the quantum field degrees of freedom. The resulting density matrix is employed to the study of the Bell-CHSH correlator. It turns out that, as a consequence of the interaction with the quantum field, the violation of the Bell-CHSH inequality exhibits a decreasing as compared to the case in which the scalar field is absent.

Using Weyl operators to study Mermin's inequalities in Quantum Field Theory

Mermin's inequalities are investigated in a Quantum Field Theory framework by using von Neumann algebras built with Weyl operators. We devise a general construction based on the Tomita-Takesaki modular theory and use it to compute the vacuum expectation value of the Mermin operator, analyzing the parameter space and explicitly exhibiting a violation of Mermin's inequalities. Therefore, relying on the power of modular operators, we are able to demonstrate that Mermin's inequalities are violated when examined within the vacuum state of a scalar field theory.

BRST invariant formulation of the Bell-CHSH inequality in gauge field theories

A study of the Bell-CHSH inequality in gauge field theories is presented. By using the Kugo-Ojima analysis of the BRST charge cohomology in Fock space, the Bell-CHSH inequality is formulated in a manifestly BRST invariant way. The examples of the free four-dimensional Maxwell theory and the Abelian Higgs model are scrutinized. The inequality is probed by using BRST invariant squeezed states, allowing for large Bell-CHSH inequality violations, close to Tsirelson's bound. An illustrative comparison with the entangled state of two $1/2$ spin particles in Quantum Mechanics is provided.

Maximal violation of the Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality via bumpified Haar wavelets

We devise a general setup to investigate the violation of the Bell-CHSH inequality in the vacuum state in the context of Quantum Field Theory. We test the method with massless spinor fields in $(1+1)$-dimensional Minkowski space-time. Alice's and Bob's test functions are explicitly constructed, first by employing Haar wavelets which are then bumpified into proper test functions via a smoothening procedure relying on the Planck-taper window function. Relativistic causality is implemented by requiring the support of Alice's and Bob's test functions to be located in the left and right Rindler wedges, respectively. Violations of the Bell-CHSH inequality as close as desired to Tsirelson's bound are reported. We briefly comment on the extra portal, compared to earlier works, this opens to scrutinize Bell-CHSH inequalities with generic, interacting Quantum Field Theories.

Gribov horizon in Noncommutative QED

It is known that Noncommutative QED (NCQED) exhibits Gribov ambiguities in the Landau gauge. These ambiguities are related to zero modes of the Faddeev-Popov operator and arise in the ghost propagator when it has a pole. In this work, we establish a positive Faddeev-Popov operator for NCQED and the condition for the ghost propagator not to have poles, the so-called Gribov no-pole condition. This condition is implemented in the path integral, and allows for the calculation of the photon propagator in momentum space, which is dependent on the squared non-commutativity parameter. In the commutative limit standard QED is recovered.

Vanishing DC holographic conductivity from a magnetic monopole condensate

We show how to obtain a vanishing DC conductivity in 3-dimensional strongly coupled QFT's using a massive 2-form field in the bulk that satisfies a special kind of boundary condition. The real and imaginary parts of the AC conductivity are evaluated in this holographic setup and we show that the DC conductivity identically vanishes even for an arbitrarily small (though nonzero) value of the 2-form mass in the bulk. We identify the bulk action of the massive 2-form with an effective theory describing a phase in which magnetic monopoles have condensed in the bulk. Our results indicate that a condensate of magnetic monopoles in a 4-dimensional bulk leads to a vanishing DC holographic conductivity in 3-dimensional strongly coupled QFT's.

Features of the Refined Gribov-Zwanziger theory: propagators, BRST soft symmetry breaking and glueball masses

The present work discusses an approach to access the physical spectrum of the Yang-Mills theory quantized in the Landau gauge. By using recent lattice data on the gluon propagator, it is possible to study the two-point functions of gauge invariant composite operators, from which masses of glueballs can be extracted. It turns out that the momentum dependence of the gluon propagator is very well reproduced by the corresponding tree-level gluon propagator obtained from the Refined Gribov-Zwanziger theory, which takes into account the presence of the Gribov horizon as well as the effect of condensates of mass dimension two. The resulting glueball masses are in good agreement with the available lattice data

On the computation of the spectral density of two-point functions: complex masses, cut rules and beyond

We present a steepest descent calculation of the Kallen-Lehmann spectral density of two-point functions involving complex conjugate masses in Euclidean space. This problem occurs in studies of (gauge) theories with Gribov-like propagators. As the presence of complex masses and the use of Euclidean space brings the theory outside of the strict validity of the Cutkosky cut rules, we discuss an alternative method based on the Widder inversion operator of the Stieltjes transformation. It turns out that the results coincide with those obtained by naively applying the cut rules. We also point out the potential usefulness of the Stieltjes (inversion) formalism when non-standard propagators are used, in which case cut rules are not available at all.
