Harmonic Curves From Euclidean Domains to Heisenberg Group H1

We define and study the harmonic curves on domains in $\mathbb{R}^n$ into the first Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^1$. These are the $C^2$-regular mappings which are critical points of the second Dirichlet energy and satisfy the weak isotropicity condition. We investigate the geometry of such curves including the comparison and maximum principles, the Harnack inequalities, the Liouville theorems, the existence results, the Phragm\`en-Lindel\"of theorem, as well as the three spheres theorem.

Morrey-Campanato Functional Spaces for Carnot Groups

We shortly review the historical path of Morrey-Campanato functional spaces and the fundamentals of Carnot groups. Then, we merge these two topics, by recovering several classical results concerning regularity of Morrey-Campanato spaces in the framework of Carnot groups.

A survey on Lyapunov functions for epidemic compartmental models

In this survey, we propose an overview on Lyapunov functions for a variety of compartmental models in epidemiology. We exhibit the most widely employed functions, together with a commentary on their use. Our aim is to provide a comprehensive starting point to readers who are attempting to prove global stability of systems of ODEs. The focus is on mathematical epidemiology, however some of the functions and strategies presented in this paper can be adapted to a wider variety of models, such as prey-predator or rumor spreading.

An Overview on Laakso Spaces

Laakso's construction is a famous example of an Ahlfors $Q$-regular metric measure space admitting a weak $(1,1)$-Poincar\'{e} inequality that can not be embedded in $\mathbb{R}^n$ for any $n$. The construction is of particular interest because it works for any fixed dimension $Q>1$, even fractional ones. In this paper we will shed some light on Laakso's work by expanding some of his statements and proving results that were left unproved in the original paper.

Maximal Directional Derivatives in Laakso Space

We investigate the connection between maximal directional derivatives and differentiability for Lipschitz functions defined on Laakso space. We show that maximality of a directional derivative for a Lipschitz function implies differentiability only for a $σ$-porous set of points. On the other hand, the distance to a fixed point is differentiable everywhere except for a $σ$-porous set of points. This behavior is completely different to the previously studied settings of Euclidean spaces and Carnot groups.

A Generalization of Lanchester's Model of Warfare

The classical Lanchester's model is shortly reviewed and analysed, with particular attention to the critical issues that intrinsically arise from the mathematical formalization of the problem. We then generalize a particular version of such a model describing the dynamics of warfare when three or more armies are involved in the conflict. Several numerical simulations are provided.

A C^k Lusin Approximation Theorem For Real-Valued Functions on Carnot Groups

We study the Lusin approximation problem for real-valued measurable functions on Carnot groups. We prove that k-approximate differentiability almost everywhere is equivalent to admitting a Lusin approximation by $C^{k}_{\mathbb{G}}$ maps. We also prove that existence of an approximate (k-1)-Taylor polynomial almost everywhere is equivalent to admitting a Lusin approximation by maps in a suitable Lipschitz function space.

A $C^m$ Lusin Approximation Theorem for Horizontal Curves in the Heisenberg Group

We prove a $C^m$ Lusin approximation theorem for horizontal curves in the Heisenberg group. This states that every absolutely continuous horizontal curve whose horizontal velocity is $m-1$ times $L^1$ differentiable almost everywhere coincides with a $C^m$ horizontal curve except on a set of small measure. Conversely, we show that the result no longer holds if $L^1$ differentiability is replaced by approximate differentiability. This shows our result is optimal and highlights differences between the Heisenberg and Euclidean settings.

Asymptotic behaviours in Fractional Orlicz-Sobolev spaces on Carnot groups

In this article we define a class of fractional Orlicz-Sobolev spaces on Carnot groups and, in the spirit of the celebrated results of Bourgain-Brezis-Mironescu and of Maz'ya-Shaposhnikova, we study the asymptotic behavior of the Orlicz functionals when the fractional parameter goes to $1$ and $0$.
