Differential Complexes in Time-Periodic Gelfand-Shilov Spaces

We study the global solvability of a class of differential complexes on the product manifold $\mathbb{T}^m \times \mathbb{R}^n$ associated with systems of evolution operators of the form $L_r = \partial_{t_r} + ia_r(t)P(x,D_x), r=1,\ldots,m,$ where the coefficients $a_r$ are real-valued Gevrey functions on the torus and $P(x,D_x)$ is a globally elliptic normal differential operator on $\mathbb{R}^n$. Within the framework of time-periodic Gelfand--Shilov spaces, we introduce a natural differential complex generated by these operators and investigate its solvability in both functional and ultradistributional settings. We provide a complete characterization of global solvability in terms of a Diophantine condition involving the constant part of the associated $1$-form and the spectrum of $P$. We also analyze global hypoellipticity of the complex. These results extend previous works on scalar operators and constant coefficient systems to the setting of differential complexes with time-dependent real coefficients.

Smoothing effect for higher order dispersive equations and applications to nonlinear initial value problems

In this paper we deal with the initial value problem related to a family of dispersive inhomogeneous evolution equations Pu=f with variable coefficients belonging to the class of p-evolution equations, $p\geq 2$. We study the smoothing effect produced by some spatial decay assumptions on the imaginary part of the subleading coefficient of the linear operator P. Then we apply this result to nonlinear problems with derivative nonlinearities obtaining existence and uniqueness of the solution in a suitable Sobolev class. The nonlinear equations considered include various equations of physical interest such as KdV-type and Kawahara-type equations.

Global Hypoellipticity for Systems in Time-Periodic Gelfand-Shilov Spaces

We investigate the global hypoellipticity of a class of overdetermined systems with coefficients depending both on time and space variables in the setting of time-periodic Gelfand-Shilov spaces. Our main result provides necessary and sufficient conditions for the global hypoellipticity of this class of systems, stated in terms of Diophantine-type estimates and sign-changing behavior of the imaginary parts of the coefficients. Through a reduction to a normal form and detailed construction of singular solutions, we fully characterize when the system fails to be globally hypoelliptic.

Schwartz very weak solutions for Schr\"odinger type equations with distributional coefficients

This paper continues the analysis of Schr\"odinger type equations with distributional coefficients initiated by the authors in [3]. Here we consider coefficients that are tempered distributions with respect to the space variable and are continuous in time. We prove that the corresponding Cauchy problem, which in general cannot even be stated in the standard distributional setting, admits a Schwartz very weak solution which is unique modulo negligible perturbations. Consistency with the classical theory is proved in the case of regular coefficients and Schwartz Cauchy data.

Propagation of singularities for anharmonic Schr\"odinger equations

We consider evolution equations for two classes of generalized anharmonic oscillators and the associated initial value problem in the space of tempered distributions. We prove that the Cauchy problem is well posed in anisotropic Shubin--Sobolev modulation spaces of Hilbert type, and we investigate propagation of suitable notions of singularities.

Propagation of anisotropic Gabor singularities for Schrödinger type equations

We show results on propagation of anisotropic Gabor wave front sets for solutions to a class of evolution equations of Schrödinger type. The Hamiltonian is assumed to have a real-valued principal symbol with the anisotropic homogeneity $a(λx, λ^σξ) = λ^{1+σ} a(x,ξ)$ for $λ> 0$ where $σ> 0$ is a rational anisotropy parameter. We prove that the propagator is continuous on anisotropic Shubin--Sobolev spaces. The main result says that the propagation of the anisotropic Gabor wave front set follows the Hamilton flow of the principal symbol.

Gevrey well posedness for $3$-evolution equations with variable coefficients

We study the Cauchy problem for a class of third order linear anisotropic evolution equations with complex valued lower order terms depending both on time and space variables. Under suitable decay assumptions for $|x| \to \infty$ on these coefficients, we prove a well posedness result in Gevrey-type spaces.

Systems of differential operators in time-periodic Gelfand-Shilov spaces

This paper explores the global properties of time-independent systems of operators in the framework of Gelfand-Shilov spaces. Our main results provide both necessary and sufficient conditions for global solvability and global hypoellipticity, based on analysis of the symbols of operators. We also present a class of time-dependent operators whose solvability and hypoellipticity are linked to the same properties of an associated time-independent system, albeit with a loss of regularity for temporal variables.

Globally solvable time-periodic evolution equations in Gelfand-Shilov classes

In this paper we consider a class of evolution operators with coefficients depending on time and space variables $(t,x) \in \mathbb{T} \times \mathbb{R}^n$, where $\mathbb{T}$ is the one-dimensional torus and prove necessary and sufficient conditions for their global solvability in (time-periodic) Gelfand-Shilov spaces. The argument of the proof is based on a characterization of these spaces in terms of the eigenfunction expansions given by a fixed self-adjoint, globally elliptic differential operator on $\mathbb{R}^n$.

Schrödinger type equations with singular coefficients and lower order terms

In this paper we investigate the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for a Schrödinger operator with singular lower order terms. We allow distributional coefficients and we approach this problem via the regularising methods at the core of the theory of very weak solutions. We prove that a very weak solution exists and it is unique modulo negligible perturbations. Very weak solutions converge to classical solutions when the equation coefficients are regular enough.

KdV-type equations in projective Gevrey classes

We prove well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for a class of third order quasilinear evolution equations with variable coefficients in projective Gevrey spaces. The class considered is connected with several equations in Mathematical Physics as the KdV and KdVB equation and some of their many generalizations.

Time-periodic Gelfand-Shilov spaces and global hypoellipticity on $\mathbb{T} \times \mathbb{R}^n$

We introduce a class of time-periodic Gelfand-Shilov spaces of functions on $\mathbb{T} \times \mathbb{R}^n$, where $\mathbb{T} \sim \mathbb{R} /2π\mathbb{Z}$ is the one-dimensional torus. We develop a Fourier analysis inspired by the characterization of the Gelfand-Shilov spaces in terms of the eigenfunction expansions given by a fixed normal, globally elliptic differential operator on $\mathbb{R}^n$. In this setting, as an application, we characterize the global hypoellipticity for a class of linear differential evolution operators on $\mathbb{T} \times \mathbb{R}^n$.

The Cauchy problem for $3$-evolution equations with data in Gelfand-Shilov spaces

We consider the Cauchy problem for a $3$-evolution operator $P$ with $(t,x)$-depending coefficients and complex valued lower order terms. We assume the initial data to be Gevrey regular and to admit an exponential decay at infinity, that is, the data belong to some Gelfand-Shilov spaces of type $\mathscr{S}$. Under suitable assumptions on the decay at infinity of the imaginary parts of the coefficients of $P$ we prove the existence of a solution with the same Gevrey regularity of the data and we describe its behavior for $|x| \to\infty$.

Lagrangian distributions and Fourier integral operators with quadratic phase functions and Shubin amplitudes

We study Fourier integral operators with Shubin amplitudes and quadratic phase functions associated to twisted graph Lagrangians with respect to symplectic matrices. We factorize such an operator as the composition of a Weyl pseudodifferential operator and a metaplectic operator and derive a characterization of its Schwartz kernel in terms of phase space estimates. Extending the conormal distributions in the Shubin calculus, we define an adapted notion of Lagrangian tempered distribution. We show that the kernels of Fourier integral operators are identical to Lagrangian distributions with respect to twisted graph Lagrangians.

Shubin type Fourier integral operators and evolution equations

We study the Cauchy problem for an evolution equation of Schrödinger type. The Hamiltonian is the Weyl quantization of a real homogeneous quadratic form with a pseudodifferential perturbation of negative order from Shubin's class. We prove that the propagator is a Fourier integral operator of Shubin type of order zero. Using results for such operators and corresponding Lagrangian distributions, we study the propagator and the solution, and derive phase space estimates for them.
