Energy distance and kernel mean embeddings for two-sample survival testing

We study the comparison problem of distribution equality between two random samples under a right censoring scheme. To address this problem, we design a series of tests based on energy distance and kernel mean embeddings. We calibrate our tests using permutation methods and prove that they are consistent against all fixed continuous alternatives. To evaluate our proposed tests, we simulate survival curves from previous clinical trials. Additionally, we provide practitioners with a set of recommendations on how to select parameters/distances for the delay effect problem. Based on the method for parameter tunning that we propose, we show that our tests demonstrate a considerable gain of statistical power against classical survival tests.

The FA Quantifier Fuzzification Mechanism: analysis of convergence and efficient implementations

The fuzzy quantification model FA has been identified as one of the best behaved quantification models in several revisions of the field of fuzzy quantification. This model is, to our knowledge, the unique one fulfilling the strict Determiner Fuzzification Scheme axiomatic framework that does not induce the standard min and max operators. The main contribution of this paper is the proof of a convergence result that links this quantification model with the Zadeh's model when the size of the input sets tends to infinite. The convergence proof is, in any case, more general than the convergence to the Zadeh's model, being applicable to any quantitative quantifier. In addition, recent revisions papers have presented some doubts about the existence of suitable computational implementations to evaluate the FA model in practical applications. In order to prove that this model is not only a theoretical approach, we show exact algorithmic solutions for the most common linguistic quantifiers as well as an approximate implementation by means of Monte Carlo. Additionally, we will also give a general overview of the main properties fulfilled by the FA model, as a single compendium integrating the whole set of properties fulfilled by it has not been previously published.

Energy distance and kernel mean embedding for two sample survival test

In this article a new family of tests is proposed for the comparison problem of the equality of distribution of two-sample under right censoring scheme. The tests are based on energy distance and kernels mean embedding, are calibrated by permutations and are consistent against all alternatives. The good performance of the new tests in real situations with finite samples is established with a simulation study.

A new approach to predict changes in physical condition: A new extension of the classical Banister model

In this article, a new model based on techniques of differential equations is introduced to predict the athletic performance based training load and a data sample of the physical form of athletes arises. This model is an extension of the classical model of Banister but, in this case, unlike the classical Banister model, the variation produced in the athletic performance depends, not only on the current training load, but also on the training performed the previous day. The model has been validated with the training data of a cyclist taken from the reference \cite{Clarke}, obtaining an excellent fit of the predicted data with respect to the experimental data.
