Asymptotic Analysis of Laplacian Operator in Thin Domains on the Sphere with Highly Oscillatory Boundary

In this work we analyse the convergence of solutions of the Poisson equation with Neumann boundary conditions in a thin domain with highly oscillatory behavior $\mathcal{U}^\varepsilon$ contained in the sphere $\mathbb{S}^2$. Using the Multiple Scales method, we obtain the homogenized limit problem and analyse the convergence of solutions, as $\varepsilon$ tends to $0$. Introducing appropriate correctors, we show strong convergence and give error estimates.

On the generic Simplicity of the spectrum for Connection Laplacian and $G$-simplicity on Principal Bundles

In this paper, we prove that, for a residual set of $C^{k}$ connections defined on a smooth vector bundle $E \to M$, all eigenvalues of the connection Laplacian operator $\mathscr{L}$, acting on the space of sections of $E$, are simple. As an application, we prove that all eigenvalues of the Laplace-Beltrami operator on a compact $G$-principal bundle $P \to M$ are $G$-simple.

A note about the generic irreducibility of the spectrum of the Laplacian on homogeneous spaces

Petrecca and Röser (2018, \cite{Petrecca2019}), and Schueth (2017, \cite{Schueth2017}) had shown that for a generic $G$-invariant metric $g$ on certain compact homogeneous spaces $M=G/K$ (including symmetric spaces of rank 1 and some Lie groups), the spectrum of the Laplace-Beltrami operator $Δ_g$ was real $G$-simple. The same is not true for the complex version of $Δ_g$ when there is a presence of representations of complex or quaternionic type. We show that these types of representations induces a $Q_8$-action that commutes with the Laplacian in such way that $G$-properties of the real version of the operator have to be understood as $(Q_8 \times G)$-properties on its corresponding complex version. Also we argue that for symmetric spaces on rank $\geq 2$ there are algebraic symmetries on the corresponding root systems which relates distinct irreducible representations on the same eigenspace.

Generic spectrum of the weighted Laplacian operator on Cayley graphs

In this paper, we investigate the spectrum of a class of weighted Laplacians on Cayley graphs and determine under what conditions the corresponding eigenspaces are generically irreducible. Specifically, we analyze the spectrum on left-invariant Cayley graphs endowed with an invariant metric, and we give some criteria for generically irreducible eigenspaces. Additionally, we introduce an operator that is comparable to the Laplacian and show that the same criterion holds.

A note on gradient Ricci soliton warped metrics

In this note, we prove triviality and nonexistence results for gradient Ricci soliton warped metrics. The proofs stem from the construction of gradient Ricci solitons that are realized as warped products, from which we know that the base spaces of these products are Ricci-Hessian type manifolds. We study this latter class of manifolds as the most appropriate setting to prove our results.

Generic spectrum of warped products and G-manifolds

In this paper, we establish a kind of splitting theorem for the eigenvalues of a specific family of operators on the base of a warped product. As a consequence, we prove a density theorem for a set of warping functions that makes the spectrum of the Laplacian a warped-simple spectrum. This is then used to study the generic situation of the eigenvalues of the Laplacian on a class of compact G-manifolds. In particular, we give a partial answer to a question posed in 1990 by Steven Zelditch about the generic situation of multiplicity of the eigenvalues of the Laplacian on principal bundles.

On Eigenvalue Generic Properties of the Laplace-Neumann Operator

We establish the existence of analytic curves of eigenvalues for the Laplace-Neumann operator through an analytic variation of the metric of a compact Riemannian manifold $M$ with boundary by means of a new approach rather than Kato's method for unbounded operators. We obtain an expression for the derivative of the curve of eigenvalues, which is used as a device to prove that the eigenvalues of the Laplace-Neumann operator are generically simple in the space $\mathcal{M}^k$ of all $C^k$ Riemannian metrics on $M$. This implies the existence of a residual set of metrics in $\mathcal{M}^k$, which make the spectrum of the Laplace-Neumann operator simple. We also give a precise information about the complementary of this residual set, as well as about the structure of the set of the deformation of a Riemannian metric which preserves double eigenvalues.

Eigenvalues of the Neumann Laplacian in symmetric regions

In this work we are concerned with the multiplicity of the eigenvalues of the Neumann Laplacian in regions of Rn which are invariant under the natural action of a compact subgroup G of O(n). We give a partial positive answer (in the Neumann case) to a conjecture of V. Arnold [1] on the transversality of the transformation given by the Dirichlet integral to the stratification in the space of quadratic forms according to the multiplicities of the eigenvalues. We show, for some classes of subgroups of O(n) that, generically in the set of G-invariant, C2-regions, the action is irreducible in each eigenspace. These classes include finite subgroups with irreducible representations of dimension not greater than 2 and, in the case n=2, any compact subgroup of O(2). We also obtain some partial results for general compact subgroups of O(n).

An interplay between the weak form of Peano's theorem and structural aspects of Banach spaces

In this paper we establish some new results concerning the Cauchy-Peano problem in Banach spaces. Firstly, we prove that if a Banach space $E$ admits a fundamental biorthogonal system, then there exists a continuous vector field $f\colon E\to E$ such that the autonomous differential equation $u'=f(u)$ has no solutions at any time. The proof relies on a key result asserting that every infinite-dimensional Fréchet space with a fundamental biorthogonal system possesses a nontrivial separable quotient. The later, is the byproduct of a mixture of known results on barrelledness and two fundamental results of Banach space theory (namely, a result of Pełczyński on Banach spaces containing $L_1(μ)$ and the $\ell_1$-theorem of Rosenthal). Next, we introduce a natural notion of weak-approximate solutions for the non-autonomous Cauchy-Peano problem in Banach spaces, and prove that a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of such an approximation is the absence of $\ell_1$-isomorphs inside the underline space. We also study a kind of algebraic genericity for the Cauchy-Peano problem in spaces $E$ having complemented subspaces with unconditional Schauder basis. It is proved that if $\mathscr{K}(E)$ denotes the family of all continuous vector fields $f\colon E\to E$ for which $u'=f(u)$ has no solutions at any time, then $\mathscr{K}(E)\bigcup \{0\}$ is spaceable in sense that it contains a closed infinite dimensional subspace of $C(E)$, the locally convex space of all continuous vector fields on $E$ with the linear topology of uniform convergence on bounded sets.
