Vortex in axion condensate as a dark matter halo

We study the possibility of the vortices formation in axion condensate on the galactic scale. Such vortices can occur as a result of global rotation of the early universe. We study analytical models of vortices and calculate exemplary galaxy rotation curves. Depending on the setup it is possible to obtain a variety of shapes which give a good qualitative agreement with observational results. However, as we show, the extremely low velocity dispersions of the axions velocity are required to form the single vortex on the galactic scales. We find that the required velocity dispersion is of the order of $σ\approx 10^{-12} \frac{m}{s}$. This is much smaller that predicted within the present understanding of the axion physics. The vortices in axion condensate can be however formed on the much smaller scales and give seeds to the galaxy formation and to their angular momenta. On the other hand, the vortices can be formed on the galactic scales, but only if the mass of the axion-like particles is of the order of $10^{-30}$eV. In this case, the particle de Broglie wavelength is comparable with the galactic diameter. This condition must be fulfilled in order to keep the coherence of the quantum condensate on the galactic scales.

From model dynamics to oscillating dark energy parameterisation

We develop here a relatively simple description of dark energy based on the dynamics of non-minimally coupled to gravity phantom scalar field which, in limit, corresponds to cosmological constant. The dark energy equation of state, obtained directly from the dynamics of the model, turns out to be an oscillatory function of the scale factor. This parameterisation is compared to other possible dark energy parameterisations, among them, the most popular one, linear in the scale factor. We use the Bayesian framework for model selection and make a comparison in the light of SN Ia, CMB shift parameter, BAO A parameter, observational H(z) and growth rate function data. We find that there is evidence to favour a parameterisation with oscillations over {\it a priori} assumed linear one.

Observational hints on the Big Bounce

In this paper we study possible observational consequences of the bouncing cosmology. We consider a model where a phase of inflation is preceded by a cosmic bounce. While we consider in this paper only that the bounce is due to loop quantum gravity, most of the results presented here can be applied for different bouncing cosmologies. We concentrate on the scenario where the scalar field, as the result of contraction of the universe, is driven from the bottom of the potential well. The field is amplified, and finally the phase of the standard slow-roll inflation is realized. Such an evolution modifies the standard inflationary spectrum of perturbations by the additional oscillations and damping on the large scales. We extract the parameters of the model from the observations of the cosmic microwave background radiation. In particular, the value of inflaton mass is equal to $m=(2.6 \pm 0.6) \cdot 10^{13}$ GeV. In our considerations we base on the seven years of observations made by the WMAP satellite. We propose the new observational consistency check for the phase of slow-roll inflation. We investigate the conditions which have to be fulfilled to make the observations of the Big Bounce effects possible. We translate them to the requirements on the parameters of the model and then put the observational constraints on the model. Based on assumption usually made in loop quantum cosmology, the Barbero-Immirzi parameter was shown to be constrained by $γ<1100$ from the cosmological observations. We have compared the Big Bounce model with the standard Big Bang scenario and showed that the present observational data is not informative enough to distinguish these models.

Bayesian analysis of the backreaction models

We present the Bayesian analysis of four different types of backreation models, which are based on the Buchert equations. In this approach, one considers a solution to the Einstein equations for a general matter distribution and then an average of various observable quantities is taken. Such an approach became of considerable interest when it was shown that it could lead to agreement with observations without resorting to dark energy. In this paper we compare the LambdaCDM model and the backreation models with SNIa, BAO, and CMB data, and find that the former is favoured. However, the tested models were based on some particular assumptions about the relation between the average spatial curvature and the backreaction, as well as the relation between the curvature and curvature index. In this paper we modified the latter assumption, leaving the former unchanged. We find that, by varying the relation between the curvature and curvature index, we can obtain a better fit. Therefore, some further work is still needed -- in particular the relation between the backreaction and the curvature should be revisited in order to fully determine the feasibility of the backreaction models to mimic dark energy.

Three steps to accelerated expansion

We study the dynamics of a non-minimally coupled scalar field cosmology with a potential function. We use the framework of dynamical systems theory to investigate all evolutional paths admissible for all initial conditions. Additionally, we assume the presence of barotropic matter and show that the dynamics can be formulated in terms of an autonomous dynamical system. We have found fixed points corresponding to three main stages of the evolution of the universe, namely, radiation, matter and quintessence domination epochs. Using the linearization of the dynamical systems in the vicinity of the critical points we explicitly obtain formulas determining the effective equation of state parameter for the universe at different epochs. In our approach the form of $w(z)$ parametrisation is derived directly from the dynamical equations rather than postulated {\it a priori}.

Fomin's conception of quantum cosmogenesis

The main aim of this paper is to extend the early approach to quantum cosmogenesis provided by Fomin. His approach was developed independently to the well-known Tryon description of the creation of the closed universe as a process of quantum fluctuation of vacuum. We apply the Fomin concept to derive the cosmological observables. We argue that Fomin's idea from his 1973 work, in contrast to Tryon's one has impact on the current Universe models and the proposed extension of his theory now can be tested by distant supernovae SNIa. Fomin's idea of the creation of the Universe is based on the intersection of two fundamental theories: general relativity and quantum field theory with the contemporary cosmological models with dark energy. As a result of comparison with contemporary approaches concerning dark energy, we found out that Fomin's idea appears in the context of the present acceleration of the Universe explanation: cosmological models with decaying vacuum. Contemporary it appears in the form of Ricci scalar dark energy connected with the holographic principle. We show also that the Fomin model admits the bounce instead of the initial singularity. We demonstrate that the Fomin model of cosmogenesis can be falsified and using SNIa data the values of model parameters is in agreement with observations.

Asymmetric cyclic evolution in polymerised cosmology

The dynamical systems methods are used to study evolution of the polymerised scalar field cosmologies with the cosmological constant. We have found all evolutional paths admissible for all initial conditions on the two-dimensional phase space. We have shown that the cyclic solutions are generic. The exact solution for polymerised cosmology is also obtained. Two basic cases are investigated, the polymerised scalar field and the polymerised gravitational and scalar field part. In the former the division on the cyclic and non-cyclic behaviour is established following the sign of the cosmological constant. The value of the cosmological constant is upper bounded purely from the dynamical setting.

Effective dynamics of the closed loop quantum cosmology

In this paper we study dynamics of the closed FRW model with holonomy corrections coming from loop quantum cosmology. We consider models with a scalar field and cosmological constant. In case of the models with cosmological constant and free scalar field, dynamics reduce to 2D system and analysis of solutions simplify. If only free scalar field is included then universe undergoes non-singular oscillations. For the model with cosmological constant, different behaviours are obtained depending on the value of $Λ$. If the value of $Λ$ is sufficiently small, bouncing solutions with asymptotic de Sitter stages are obtained. However if the value of $Λ$ exceeds critical value $Λ_{\text{c}} =\frac{\sqrt{3}m^2_{\text{Pl}}}{2πγ^3} \simeq 21 m^2_{\text{Pl}}$ then solutions become oscillatory. Subsequently we study models with a massive scalar field. We find that this model possess generic inflationary attractors. In particular field, initially situated in the bottom of the potential, is driven up during the phase of quantum bounce. This subsequently leads to the phase of inflation. Finally we find that, comparing with the flat case, effects of curvature do not change qualitatively dynamics close to the phase of bounce. Possible effects of inverse volume corrections are also briefly discussed.

Effects of the quantisation ambiguities on the Big Bounce dynamics

In this paper we investigate dynamics of the modified loop quantum cosmology models using dynamical systems methods. Modifications considered come from the choice of the different field strength operator $\hat{F}$ and result in different forms of the effective Hamiltonian. Such an ambiguity of the choice of this expression from some class of functions is allowed in the framework of loop quantisation. Our main goal is to show how such modifications can influence the bouncing universe scenario in the loop quantum cosmology. In effective models considered we classify all evolutional paths for all admissible initial conditions. The dynamics is reduced to the form of a dynamical system of the Newtonian type on a 2-dimensional phase plane. These models are equivalent dynamically to the FRW models with the decaying effective cosmological term parametrised by the canonical variable $p$ (or by the scale factor $a$). We find that for the positive cosmological constant there is a class of oscillating models without the initial and final singularities. The new phenomenon is the appearance of curvature singularities for the finite values of the scale factor, but we find that for the positive cosmological constant these singularities can be avoided. For the positive cosmological constant the evolution begins at the asymptotic state in the past represented by the deSitter contracting (deS$_{-}$) spacetime or the static Einstein universe H=0 or $H=-\infty$ state and reaches the deSitter expanding state (deS$_{+}$), the state H=0 or $H=+\infty$ state. In the case of the negative cosmological constant we obtain the past and future asymptotic states as the Einstein static universes.

Non-minimally coupled scalar field cosmology on the phase plane

In this publication we investigate dynamics of a flat FRW cosmological model with a non-minimally coupled scalar field with the coupling term $ξR ψ^{2}$ in the scalar field action. The quadratic potential function $V(ψ)\propto ψ^{2}$ is assumed. All the evolutional paths are visualized and classified in the phase plane, at which the parameter of non-minimal coupling $ξ$ plays the role of a control parameter. The fragility of global dynamics with respect to changes of the coupling constant is studied in details. We find that the future big rip singularity appearing in the phantom scalar field cosmological models can be avoided due to non-minimal coupling constant effects. We have shown the existence of a finite scale factor singular point (future or past) where the Hubble function as well as its first cosmological time derivative diverges.

Scalar field cosmology in the energy phase-space -- unified description of dynamics

In this letter we apply dynamical system methods to study all evolutional paths admissible for all initial conditions of the FRW cosmological model with a non-minimally coupled to gravity scalar field and a barotropic fluid. We choose "energy variables" as phase variables. We reduce dynamics to a 3-dimensional dynamical system for an arbitrary potential of the scalar field in the phase space variables. After postulating the potential parameter $Γ$ as a function of $λ$ (defined as $-V'/V$) we reduce whole dynamics to a 3-dimensional dynamical system and study evolutional paths leading to current accelerating expansion. If we restrict the form of the potential then we will obtain a 2-dimensional dynamical system. We use the dynamical system approach to find a new generic quintessence scenario of approaching to the de Sitter attractor which appears only for the case of non-vanishing coupling constant.

Topological quantum numbers and curvature -- examples and applications

Using the idea of the degree of a smooth mapping between two manifolds of the same dimension we present here the topological (homotopical) classification of the mappings between spheres of the same dimension, vector fields, monopole and instanton solutions. Starting with a review of the elements of Riemannian geometry we also present an original elementary proof of the Gauss-Bonnet theorem and the Poincaré-Hopf theorem.

Global integrability of cosmological scalar fields

We investigate the Liouvillian integrability of Hamiltonian systems describing a universe filled with a scalar field (possibly complex). The tool used is the differential Galois group approach, as introduced by Morales-Ruiz and Ramis. The main result is that the generic systems with minimal coupling are non-integrable, although there still exist some values of parameters for which integrability remains undecided; the conformally coupled systems are only integrable in four known cases. We also draw a connection with chaos present in such cosmological models, and the issues of integrability restricted to the real domain.

Paths of Friedmann-Robertson-Walker brane models

Dynamics of brane-world models of dark energy is reviewed. We demonstrate that simple dark energy brane models can be represented as 2-dimensional dynamical systems of a Newtonian type. Hence a fictitious particle moving in a potential well characterizes the model. We investigate the dynamics of the brane models using methods of dynamical systems. The simple brane-world models can be successfully unified within a single scheme -- an ensemble of brane dark energy models. We characterize generic models of this ensemble as well as exceptional ones using the notion of structural stability (instability). Then due to the Peixoto theorem we can characterize the class of generic brane models. We show that global dynamics of the generic brane models of dark energy is topologically equivalent to the concordance $Λ$CDM model. We also demonstrate that the bouncing models or models in which acceleration of the universe is only transient phenomenon are non-generic (or exceptional cases) in the ensemble. We argue that the adequate brane model of dark energy should be a generic case in the ensemble of FRW dynamical systems on the plane.

Universe from vacuum in loop-string cosmology

In this paper we study the description of the Universe based on the low energy superstring theory modified by the Loop Quantum Gravity effects. This approach was proposed by De Risi et al. in the Phys. Rev. D {\bf 76} (2007) 103531. We show that in the contrast with the string motivated pre-Big Bang scenario, the cosmological realisation of the $t$-duality transformation is not necessary to avoid an initial singularity. In the model considered the universe starts its evolution in the vacuum phase at time $t\to - \infty$. In this phase the scale factor $a\to 0$, energy density $ρ\to 0$ and coupling of the interactions $g^2_s \to 0$. After this stage the universe evolves to the non-singular hot Big Bang phase $ρ\to ρ_{\text{max}} < \infty$. Then the standard classical universe emerges. During the whole evolution the scale factor increases monotonically. We solve this model analytically. We also propose and solve numerically the model with an additional dilaton potential in which the universe starts the evolution from the asymptotically free vacuum phase $g^2_s \to 0$ and then evolves non-singularly to the emerging dark energy dominated phase with the saturated coupling constant $g^2_s \to \text{const}$.

Testing and selection of cosmological models with $(1+z)^6$ corrections

In the paper we check whether the contribution of $(-)(1+z)^6$ type in the Friedmann equation can be tested. We consider some astronomical tests to constrain the density parameters in such models. We describe different interpretations of such an additional term: geometric effects of Loop Quantum Cosmology, effects of braneworld cosmological models, non-standard cosmological models in metric-affine gravity, and models with spinning fluid. Kinematical (or geometrical) tests based on null geodesics are insufficient to separate individual matter components when they behave like perfect fluid and scale in the same way. Still, it is possible to measure their overall effect. We use recent measurements of the coordinate distances from the Fanaroff-Riley type IIb (FRIIb) radio galaxy (RG) data, supernovae type Ia (SNIa) data, baryon oscillation peak and cosmic microwave background radiation (CMBR) observations to obtain stronger bounds for the contribution of the type considered. We demonstrate that, while $ρ^2$ corrections are very small, they can be tested by astronomical observations -- at least in principle. Bayesian criteria of model selection (the Bayesian factor, AIC, and BIC) are used to check if additional parameters are detectable in the present epoch. As it turns out, the $Λ$CDM model is favoured over the bouncing model driven by loop quantum effects. Or, in other words, the bounds obtained from cosmography are very weak, and from the point of view of the present data this model is indistinguishable from the $Λ$CDM one.

Exact solutions for Big Bounce in loop quantum cosmology

In this paper we study the flat (k=0) cosmological FRW model with holonomy corrections of Loop Quantum Gravity. The considered universe contains a massless scalar field and the cosmological constant Lambda. We find analytical solutions for this model in different configurations and investigate its dynamical behaviour in the whole phase space. We show the explicit influence of Lambda on the qualitative and quantitative character of solutions. Even in the case of positive Lambda the oscillating solutions without the initial and final singularity appear as a generic case for some quantisation schemes.

Emerging singularities in the bouncing loop cosmology

In this paper we calculate $\mathcal{O}(μ^4)$ corrections from holonomies in the Loop Quantum Gravity, usually not taken into account. Allowance of the corrections of this kind is equivalent with the choice of the new quatization scheme. Quantization ambiguities in the Loop Quantum Cosmology allow for this additional freedom and presented corrections are consistent with the standard approach. We apply these corrections to the flat FRW cosmological model and calculate the modified Friedmann equation. We show that the bounce appears in the models with the standard $\mathcal{O}(μ^2)$ quantization scheme is shifted to the higher energies $ρ_{\text{bounce}} = 3 ρ_{\text{c}}$. Also a pole in the Hubble parameter appears for $ρ_{\text{pole}} = {3/2} ρ_{\text{c}}$ corresponding to \emph{hyper-inflation/deflation} phases. This pole represents a curvature singularity at which the scale factor is finite. In this scenario the singularity and bounce co-exist. Moreover we find that an ordinary bouncing solution appears only when quantum corrections in the lowest order are considered. Higher order corrections can lead to the nonperturbative effects.
