$f$-vectors of $3$-polytopes symmetric under rotations and rotary reflections

The $f$-vector of a polytope consists of the numbers of its $i$-dimensional faces. An open field of study is the characterization of all possible $f$-vectors. It has been solved in three dimensions by Steinitz in the early 19th century. We state a related question, i.e. to characterize $f$-vectors of three dimensional polytopes respecting a symmetry, given by a finite group of matrices. We give a full answer for all three dimensional polytopes that are symmetric with respect to a finite rotation or rotary reflection group. We solve these cases constructively by developing tools that generalize Steinitz's approach.

Local Formulas for Ehrhart Coefficients from Lattice Tiles

As shown by McMullen in 1983, the coefficients of the Ehrhart polynomial of a lattice polytope can be written as a weighted sum of facial volumes. The weights in such a local formula depend only on the outer normal cones of faces, but are far from being unique. In this paper, we develop an infinite class of such local formulas. These are based on choices of fundamental domains in sublattices and obtained by polyhedral volume computations. We hereby also give a kind of geometric interpretation for the Ehrhart coefficients. Since our construction gives us a great variety of possible local formulas, these can, for instance, be chosen to fit well with a given polyhedral symmetry group. In contrast to other constructions of local formulas, ours does not rely on triangulations of rational cones into simplicial or even unimodular ones.

Special cases and a dual view on the local formulas for Ehrhart coefficients from lattice tiles

McMullen's formulas or local formulas for Ehrhart coefficients are functions on rational cones that determine the $i$-th coefficient of the Ehrhart polynomial as a weighted sum of the volumes of the i-dimensional faces of a polytope. This work focuses on the RS-$μ$-construction as given in a previous paper by Achill Schürmann and the author. We give an explicit description of the construction from the dual point of view, i.e. given the cone of feasible directions instead of the normal cone as input value. We further show some properties of the construction in special cases, namely in case of symmetry and for the codimension one case.
