Rare decays of b hadrons

Rare decays of b hadrons provide a powerful way of identifying contributions from physics beyond the Standard Model, in particular from new hypothetical particles too heavy to be produced at colliders. The most relevant experimental measurements are reviewed and possible interpretations are briefly discussed.

Measurement of $\Delta\Gamma_{s}$ and the CP-violating weak phase $\phi_s$ in the decay $B_s \ra J/\psi\phi$ by ATLAS

A measurement of $B_s \ra J/\psi\phi$ decay parameters, including the CP-violating weak phase $\phi_s$ and the decay width difference $\Delta\Gamma_{s}$ is reported, using 4.9 $fb^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected in 2011 by the ATLAS detector. The measured parameters are consistent with the world average values and with theoretical expectations, in particular $\phi_s$ is within 1 $\sigma$ of the expected value in the Standard Model.

A Possible Measurement of CP-Violation in B0-decays by ATLAS on LHC

A possibility to measure CP-violation in B0-decays by ATLAS experiment was investigated. With one year of running at luminosity 10^33 cm-2s-1 with a muon pt-trigger threshold of 20GeV and rapidity coverage eta<2.5 of the tracking detector the rate of 1490 events B0->J/psi->mumupipi can be reached.
