Non-parametric Multi-Partitions Clustering

In the framework of model-based clustering, a model, called multi-partitions clustering, allowing several latent class variables has been proposed. This model assumes that the distribution of the observed data can be factorized into several independent blocks of variables, each block following its own mixture model. In this paper, we assume that each block follows a non parametric latent class model, {\it i.e.} independence of the variables in each component of the mixture with no parametric assumption on their class conditional distribution. The purpose is to deduce, from the observation of a sample, the number of blocks, the partition of the variables into the blocks and the number of components in each block, which characterise the proposed model. By following recent literature on model and variable selection in non-parametric mixture models, we propose to discretize the data into bins. This permits to apply the classical multi-partition clustering procedure for parametric multinomials, which are based on a penalized likelihood method (\emph{e.g.} BIC). The consistency of the procedure is obtained and an efficient optimization is proposed. The performances of the model are investigated on simulated data.

Mixture of hidden Markov models for accelerometer data

Motivated by the analysis of accelerometer data, we introduce a specific finite mixture of hidden Markov models with particular characteristics that adapt well to the specific nature of this type of data. Our model allows for the computation of statistics that characterize the physical activity of a subject (\emph{e.g.}, the mean time spent at different activity levels and the probability of the transition between two activity levels) without specifying the activity levels in advance but by estimating them from the data. In addition, this approach allows the heterogeneity of the population to be taken into account and subpopulations with homogeneous physical activity behavior to be defined. We prove that, under mild assumptions, this model implies that the probability of misclassifying a subject decreases at an exponential decay with the length of its measurement sequence. Model identifiability is also investigated. We also report a comprehensive suite of numerical simulations to support our theoretical findings. Method is motivated by and applied to the PAT study.

Moderate deviations for parameters estimation in a geometrically ergodic Heston process

We establish a moderate deviation principle for the maximum likelihood estimator of the four parameters of a geometrically ergodic Heston process. We also obtain moderate deviations for the maximum likelihood estimator of the couple of dimensional and drift parameters of a generalized squared radial Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. We restrict ourselves to the most tractable case where the dimensional parameter satisfies $a>2$ and the drift coefficient is such that $b<0$. In contrast to the previous literature, parameters are estimated simultaneously.

Weighted least squares estimation for the subcritical Heston process

We simultaneously estimate the four parameters of a subcritical Heston process. We do not restrict ourself to the case where the stochastic volatility process never reaches zero. In order to avoid the use of unmanageable stopping times and natural but intractable estimator, we propose to make use of a weighted least squares estimator. We establish strong consistency and asymptotic normality for this estimator. Numerical simulations are also provided, illustrating the good performances of our estimation procedure.

Large deviations for the squared radial Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process

We establish large deviation principles for the couple of the maximum likelihood estimators of dimensional and drift coefficients in the generalised squared radial Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. We focus our attention to the most tractable situation where the dimensional parameter $a>2$ and the drift parameter $b<0$. In contrast to the previous literature, we state large deviation principles when both dimensional and drift coefficient are estimated simultaneously.
