Scaling limit of an equilibrium surface under the Random Average Process

We consider the equilibrium surface of the Random Average Process started from an inclined plane, as seen from the height of the origin, obtained in [Ferrari & Fontes, 1998], where its fluctuations were shown to be of order of the square root of the distance to the origin in one dimension, and the square root of the log of that distance in two dimensions (and constant in higher dimensions). Remarkably, even if not pointed out explicitly in [Ferrari & Fontes, 1998], the correlation structure of those fluctuations is given in terms of the Green's function of a certain random walk, and thus corresponds to those of Discrete Gaussian Free Fields. In the present paper we obtain the scaling limit of those fluctuations in one and two dimensions, in terms of Gaussian processes, in the sense of finite dimensional distributions. In one dimension, the limit is given by Brownian Motion; in two dimensions, we get a process with a discontinuous covariance function.

Convergence of the one-dimensional contact process with two types of particles and priority

We consider a symmetric finite-range contact process on $\mathbb{Z}$ with two types of particles (or infections), which propagate according to the same supercritical rate and die (or heal) at rate $1$. Particles of type $1$ can enter any site in $(-\infty,0]$ that is empty or occupied by a particle of type $2$ and, analogously, particles of type $2$ can enter any site in $[1,\infty)$ that is empty or occupied by a particle of type $1$. Also, almost one particle can occupy each site. We prove that the process beginning with all sites in $(-\infty,0]$ occupied by particles of type 1 and all sites in $[1,\infty)$ occupied by particles of type 2 converges in distribution to an invariant measure different from the nontrivial invariant measure of the classic contact process. In addition, we prove that for any initial configuration the process converges to a convex combination of four invariant measures.

Metastability for the contact process with two types of particles and priorities

We consider a symmetric finite-range contact process on $\mathbb{Z}$ with two types of particles (or infections), which propagate according to the same supercritical rate and die (or heal) at rate $1$. Particles of type 1 can occupy any site in $(-\infty, 0]$ that is empty or occupied by a particle of type 2 and, analogously, particles of type 2 can occupy any site in $[1,+\infty)$ that is empty or occupied by a particle of type 1. We consider the model restricted to a finite interval $[-N + 1,N] \cap \mathbb{Z}$. If the initial configuration is $\mathbf{1}_ {(-N,0]}+2\mathbf{1}_{[1,N)}$, we prove that this system exhibits two metastable states: one with the two species and the other one with the family that survives the competition.
