Radiative corrections to decays of the 125 GeV Higgs boson in the complex Higgs triplet model

The extension of the Higgs sector with an additional complex triplet field is often considered for generating the neutrino mass by the Type-II seesaw mechanism. Such an extension generally predicts $\rho\neq1$, where $\rho$ is the electroweak rho parameter at the tree level, so that the renormalization of the electroweak parameters is different from models like the standard model (SM) and two Higgs doublet models. In this paper, we present a full set of radiative corrections to decays of the 125 GeV Higgs boson ($h$) in this model. One-loop contributions of the extra Higgs bosons as well as SM fermions and gauge bosons to the decay rates of $h$ are calculated in the on-shell scheme. Gauge dependence appearing in the counter terms of mixing angles is eliminated by the pinch technique. Higher-order QCD corrections are also implemented. We find that the decay rates can significantly deviate from the predictions in the SM and other extensions such as the two Higgs doublet models and the singlet model. For example, the decay rates of $h\to WW^\ast$ and $h\to ZZ^\ast$ can be a few percent larger than the SM value under current experimental and theoretical constraints. In this case, deviations in $h\to \gamma\gamma$ and Higgs self-coupling can reach about $-20\%$ and $100\%$, respectively. The pattern of the deviations is different from the other extended Higgs models. These characteristic predictions are expected to be detected at the High-Luminosity LHC or future Higgs factories.

New renormalization scheme in extended Higgs sectors for Higgs precision measurements

We discuss a new renormalization scheme for mixing angles in extended Higgs sectors for the coming era of the Higgs precise measurements at future lepton colliders. We focus on the two Higgs doublet models (2HDMs) with a softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry as a simple and important example, in which two mixing angles $\alpha$ and $\beta$ appear in the Higgs sector. In this new scheme, the counterterms for two mixing angles $\delta\alpha$ and $\delta\beta$ are determined by requiring that deviations in the decay rates of $h\to ZZ^* \to Z\ell^+\ell^-$ and $h \to \tau\tau$ from the corresponding predictions in the standard model at NLO are given by the square of the scaling factor at tree level. We show how this scheme works in the 2HDMs, and demonstrate how the other decay rates (e.g., $h \to WW^*$, $h \to b\bar{b}$, etc.) are predicted at NLO.

New renormalization scheme in the two Higgs doublet models

We propose a new renormalization scheme in the two Higgs doublet models with a softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry and CP-conservation in the Higgs sector. In this scheme, counterterms for mixing angles of the Higgs bosons are determined by using the decay rates of the discovered Higgs boson $h$, $i.e.$, $h \to \tau^+\tau^-$ and $h \to ZZ^* \to Z\ell^+\ell^-$ at next leading order (NLO) instead of using the renormalized two-point functions which are adopted in the previous scheme. We require that the decay rates at NLO are determined to be the corresponding predictions at NLO in the Standard Model (SM) times square of the scaling factor which describes the deviation of $h$ couplings at tree level from the SM value. The mixing angles then maintain the meaning of the ``alignmentness", $i.e.$, how the properties of $h$ are close to the SM predictions, while they lose such meaning in the previous scheme. We compare the predictions of the decay rates at NLO given in the new scheme and those in the previous scheme.

H-COUP Version 3: A program for one-loop corrected decays of any Higgs bosons in non-minimal Higgs models

The H-COUP program is provided as a package of Fortran codes, which can compute observables related to Higgs bosons including radiative corrections in various extended Higgs sectors. We give a manual for the latest version of H-COUP (H-COUP_3.0), in which decay rates and branching ratios of all the Higgs bosons can be calculated at one-loop level in EW and Higgs interactions with QCD corrections in the Higgs singlet model, four types of the two Higgs doublet model with a softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry, and the inert doublet model. The previous version (H-COUP_2.0) can evaluate those only for the standard model like Higgs boson with the mass of 125 GeV ($h$). In H-COUP_3.0, renormalized quantities are computed based on the gauge independent on-shell renormalization scheme. The source code of H-COUP_3.0 can be downloaded via the following link: \url{http://www-het.phys.sci.osaka-u.ac.jp/~hcoup}. By using H-COUP_3.0, we can compare the precise measurements of the properties of $h$ and direct searches for additional Higgs bosons with their predictions at one-loop level, by which we can reconstruct the structure of the Higgs sector.

Next-to-leading order corrections to decays of the heavier CP-even Higgs boson in the two Higgs doublet model

We investigate the impact of electroweak (EW), scalar and QCD corrections to the full set of decay branching ratios of an additional CP-even Higgs boson ($H$) in the two Higgs doublet model with a softly broken $Z_2$ symmetry. We employ the improved gauge independent on-shell scheme in the renormalized vertices. We particularly focus on the scenario near the alignment limit in which couplings of the discovered 125 GeV Higgs boson ($h$) coincide with those of the standard model while the $Hhh$ coupling vanishes at tree level. The renormalized decay rate for $H\to hh$ can significantly be changed from the prediction at tree level due to non-decoupling loop effects of additional Higgs bosons, even in the near alignment case. We find that the radiative corrections to the branching ratio of $H\to hh$ can be a few ten percent level in the case with the masses of additional Higgs bosons being degenerate under the constraints of perturbative unitarity, vacuum stability and the EW precision data. Further sizable corrections can be obtained for the case with a mass difference among the additional Higgs bosons.

Probing extended Higgs sectors by the synergy between direct searches at the LHC and precision tests at future lepton colliders

We discuss a possibility that the parameter space of the two Higgs doublet model is significantly narrowed down by considering the synergy between direct searches for additional Higgs bosons at the LHC and its luminosity upgraded operation and precision measurements of the Higgs boson properties at future electron-positron colliders such as the International Linear Collider. We show that, in the case where the coupling constants of the discovered Higgs boson are slightly different from the predicted values in the standard model, most of the parameter space is explored by the direct searches of extra Higgs bosons, in particular for the decays of the extra Higgs bosons into the discovered Higgs boson, and also by the theoretical arguments such as perturbative unitarity and vacuum stability. This can be done because there appears an upper limit on the mass of the extra Higgs bosons as long as the deviation exists in the Higgs boson coupling. We also show that in the alignment limit where all the Higgs boson couplings take the standard model like values most of the parameter space cannot be excluded because most of the Higgs to Higgs decays are suppressed and also there is no upper limit on the masses from the theoretical arguments.

H-COUP Version 2: a program for one-loop corrected Higgs boson decays in non-minimal Higgs sectors

We present the concept of H-COUP_ver 2, which evaluates the decay rates (including higher order corrections) for the Higgs boson with a mass of 125 GeV in various extended Higgs models. In the previous version (H-COUP_1.0), only a full set of the Higgs boson vertices are evaluated at one-loop level in a gauge invariant manner in these models. H-COUP_ver 2 contains all the functions of H-COUP_1.0. After shortly introducing these extended Higgs models and discussing their theoretical and experimental constraints, we summarize formulae for the renormalized vertices and the decay rates. We then explain how to install and run H-COUP_ver 2 with some numerical examples.

Full next-to-leading-order calculations of Higgs boson decay rates in models with non-minimal scalar sectors

We present a complete set of decay rates of the Higgs boson with the mass of 125 GeV at the full next-to-leading order in a variety of extended Higgs models; i.e., a model with an additional real singlet scalar field, four types of two Higgs doublet models and the inert doublet model. All the one-loop contributions due to QCD and electroweak interactions as well as scalar interactions are taken into account, and the calculations are systematically performed. Branching ratios for all the decay modes are evaluated in these models, and patterns of deviations in each decay mode from the standard model predictions are comprehensively analyzed. We show how these models with extended Higgs sectors can be distinguished by using our calculation of the branching ratios and future precision measurements of the Higgs boson decays.

Approximate Alignment in Two Higgs Doublet Model with Extra Yukawa Couplings

With discovery of the 125 GeV boson $h^0$, the existence of a second doublet is very plausible. We show that the "alignment" phenomenon, that $h^0$ is found to resemble closely the Standard Model Higgs boson, may correspond to Higgs quartic couplings $η_i$ that are ${\cal O}(1)$ in strength. If the exotic bosons of the second doublet possess extra top Yukawa couplings, which are the least constrained by data, such a two Higgs doublet model could drive electroweak baryogenesis, as well as further "protect" the apparent alignment. The exotic Higgs bosons can be sub-TeV in mass while remaining well hidden so far, with broad parameter space for search at the Large Hadron Collider.

Loop effects on the Higgs decay widths in extended Higgs models

In order to identify the Higgs sector using future precision data, we calculate the partial decay widths of the discovered Higgs boson with the mass of 125 GeV into fermion pairs and gauge-boson pairs with one-loop electroweak and one-loop QCD corrections in various extended Higgs models, such as the Higgs singlet model and four types of two Higgs doublet models. In the tree-level analysis, the patterns of deviations from the standard model predictions in the partial decay widths for various decay modes are distinctive for each model, due to the mixing of the Higgs boson with other neutral scalars. Our present analysis shows that even with a full set of radiative corrections we can discriminate these extended Higgs models via the partial decay widths as long as any of the deviations is detected at future precision measurements. Furthermore, we quantitatively show that in each model the magnitude of the deviations can provide important information on the mass scale of extra Higgs bosons under the theoretical constraints from perturbative unitary and vacuum stability, which can be obtained without discovery of the additional Higgs bosons.

H-COUP: a program for one-loop corrected Higgs boson couplings in non-minimal Higgs sectors

We describe a numerical calculation tool H-COUP written in Fortran, which provides one-loop electroweak corrected vertices for the discovered Higgs boson $h(125)$ in various Higgs sectors. The renormalization is based on the improved on-shell scheme without gauge dependence. In the first version H-COUP_1.0, the following models are included, namely, the Higgs singlet model, four types (Type-I, Type-II, Type-X, Type-Y) of two Higgs doublet models with a softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry and the inert doublet model. We first briefly introduce these models and then explain how to install and run this tool in an individual machine. A sample of numerical outputs is provided for user information.

Probing extra Yukawa couplings by precision measurements of Higgs properties

If one removes any \emph{ad hoc} symmetry assumptions, the general two Higgs doublet model should have additional Yukawa interactions independent from fermion mass generation, in general involving flavor changing neutral Higgs couplings. These extra couplings can affect the discovered Higgs boson $h$ through fermion loop contributions. We calculate the renormalized $hZZ$ coupling at one-loop level %by on-shell and minimal subtraction scheme, and evaluate the dependence on heavy Higgs boson mass and extra Yukawa coupling $ρ_{tt}$. Precision measurements at future colliders can explore the parameter space, and can give stronger bound on $ρ_{tt}$ than the current bound from flavor experiments. As a side result, we find that if $ρ_{tt}\cosγ< 0$, where $\cosγ$ is the exotic Higgs component of $h$, the $ρ_{tt}$-induced top loop contribution cancels against bosonic loop contributions, and one may have alignment without decoupling, namely $\sin(-γ) \simeq 1$, but exotic scalar bosons could have masses at several hundred GeV.

Gauge invariant one-loop corrections to Higgs boson couplings in non-minimal Higgs models

We comprehensively evaluate renormalized Higgs boson couplings at one-loop level in non-minimal Higgs models such as the Higgs Singlet Model (HSM) and the four types of Two Higgs Doublet Models (THDMs) with a softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry. The renormalization calculation is performed in the on-shell scheme improved by using the pinch technique to eliminate the gauge dependence in the renormalized couplings. We first review the pinch technique for scalar boson two-point functions in the Standard Model (SM), the HSM and the THDMs. We then discuss the difference in the results of the renormalized Higgs boson couplings between the improved on-shell scheme and the ordinal one with a gauge dependence appearing in mixing parameters of scalar bosons. Finally, we widely investigate how we can identify the HSM and the THDMs focusing on the pattern of deviations in the renormalized Higgs boson couplings from predictions in the SM.

One-loop corrections to the Higgs self-couplings in the singlet extension

We investigate predictions on the triple Higgs boson couplings with radiative corrections in the model with an additional real singlet scalar field. In this model, the second physical scalar state ($H$) appears in addition to the Higgs boson ($h$) with the mass 125 GeV. The $hhh$ vertex is calculated at the one-loop level, and its possible deviation from the predictions in the standard model is evaluated under various theoretical constraints. The decay rate of $H \to hh$ is also computed at the one-loop level. We also take into account the bound from the precise measurement of the $W$ boson mass, which gives the upper limit on the mixing angle $α$ between two physical Higgs bosons for a given value of the mass of $H$ ($m_H^{}$). We find that the deviation in the $hhh$ coupling from the prediction in the standard model can maximally be about 250\%, 150\% and 75\% for $m_H^{}=300$, 500 and 1000 GeV, respectively, under the requirement that the cutoff scale of the model is higher than 3 TeV. We also discuss deviations from the standard model prediction in double Higgs boson production from the gluon fusion at the LHC using the one-loop corrected Higgs boson vertices.

Testing the dark matter scenario in the inert doublet model by future precision measurements of the Higgs boson couplings

We evaluate radiative corrections to the Higgs boson couplings in the inert doublet model, in which the lightest component of the $Z_2^{}$ odd scalar doublet field can be a dark matter candidate. The one-loop contributions to the $hVV$, $hff$ and $hhh$ couplings are calculated in the on-shell scheme, where $h$ is the Higgs boson with the mass 125 GeV, $V$ represents a weak gauge boson and $f$ is a fermion. We investigate how the one-loop corrected Higgs boson couplings can be deviated from the predictions in the standard model under the constraints from perturbative unitarity and vacuum stability in the scenario where the model can explain current dark matter data. When the mass of the dark matter is slightly above a half of the Higgs boson mass, it would be difficult to test the model by the direct search experiments for dark matter. We find that in such a case the model can be tested at future collider experiments by either the direct search of heavier inert particles or precision measurements of the Higgs boson couplings.

Radiative corrections to the Higgs boson couplings in the model with an additional real singlet scalar field

We calculate renormalized Higgs boson couplings with gauge bosons and fermions at the one-loop level in the model with an additional isospin singlet real scalar field. These coupling constants can deviate from the predictions in the standard model due to tree-level mixing effects and one-loop contributions of the extra neutral scalar boson. We investigate how they can be significant under the theoretical constraints from perturbative unitarity and vacuum stability and also the condition of avoiding the wrong vacuum. Furthermore, comparing with the predictions in the Type I two Higgs doublet model, we numerically demonstrate how the singlet extension model can be distinguished and identified by using precision measurements of the Higgs boson couplings at future collider experiments.

Indirect reach of heavy MSSM Higgs bosons by precision measurements at future lepton colliders

In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), the bottom Yukawa coupling of the Higgs boson can considerably deviate from its Standard Model prediction due to non-decoupling effects. We point out that the ratio of the Higgs boson decay branching fraction to a bottom quark pair and that to a $W$-boson pair from the same production channel is particularly sensitive to large additional MSSM Higgs boson mass regions at future electron-positron colliders. Based on this precision measurement, we explicitly show the indirect discovery reach of the additional Higgs bosons according to planned programs of the International Linear Collider.

Exploring extended Higgs sectors by radiative corrections with future precision coupling measurements

In non-minimal Higgs sectors, coupling constants of the discovered Higgs boson can deviate from the predictions in the Standard Model by effects of additional scalar bosons. The pattern of the deviations in various Higgs boson couplings largely depends on the structure of extended Higgs sectors. Therefore, we may be able to determine the true Higgs sector by fingerprinting the predictions on the Higgs boson couplings in each model with the future precision data. As the expected precision is extremely high, it is essentially important to evaluate the theory predictions as accurately as possible with radiative corrections in each model. We calculate a full set of one-loop corrections to the Higgs boson couplings in the two Higgs doublet models with a softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry, where there are four types of Yukawa interactions. We discuss how to distinguish four types of the model by evaluating the pattern of the deviations in the Yukawa coupling constants and also the couplings with gauge bosons. In addition, we demonstrate how inner parameters in each type of the model can be extracted by the future precision measurements of these couplings at the high luminosity LHC and the International Linear Collider.
