Asymptotic decomposition of solutions to parabolic equations with a random microstructure

We consider a Cauchy problem for a divergence form second order parabolic operator with rapidly oscillating coefficients that are periodic in spatial variables and random stationary ergodic in time. As was already proved, in this case the homogenized operator is deterministic. We obtain the leading terms of the asymptotic expansion of the solution, these terms being deterministic functions, and show that a properly renormalized difference between the solution and the said leading terms converges to a solution of some SPDE.

How smooth is the drift of the mixed fractional Brownian motion?

The mixed fractional Brownian motion - the sum of independent fractional and standard Brownian motions - is known to be a semimartingale if the Hurst exponent $H$ of its fractional component satisfies $H > 3/4$. The question posed in the title is motivated by recent findings in quantitative finance. In this note, we show that the drift in its Doob-Meyer decomposition has a derivative that is $γ$-Hölder continuous for any $γ< 2H - 3/2$.

Homogenization of nonlocal equations in randomly evolving media. Diffusion approximation

The paper deals with homogenization and higher order approximations of solutions to nonlocal evolution equations of convolution type whose coefficients are periodic in the spatial variables and random stationary in time. We assume that the convolution kernel has finite moments up to order three. Under proper mixing assumptions, we study the limit behavior of the normalized difference between solutions of the original and the homogenized problems and show that this difference converges to the solution of a linear stochastic partial differential equation.

Higher order homogenization for random non-autonomous parabolic operators

We consider Cauchy problem for a divergence form second order parabolic operator with rapidly oscillating coefficients that are periodic in spatial variables and random stationary ergodic in time. As was proved in [24] and [12] in this case the homogenized operator is deterministic. The paper focuses on non-diffusive scaling, when the oscillation in spatial variables is faster than that in temporal variable. Our goal is to study the asymptotic behaviour of the normalized difference between solutions of the original and the homogenized problems.

On the fundamental solution of heat and stochastic heat equations

We consider the generic divergence form second order parabolic equation with coefficients that are regular in the spatial variables and just measurable in time. We show that the spatial derivatives of its fundamental solution admit upper bounds that agree with the Aronson type estimate and only depend on the ellipticity constants of the equation and the L $\infty$ norm of the spatial derivatives of its coefficients. We also study the corresponding stochastic partial differential equations and prove that under natural assumptions on the noise the equation admits a mild solution, given by anticipating stochastic integration.

Exact asymptotics in eigenproblems for fractional Brownian covariance operators

Many results in the theory of Gaussian processes rely on the eigenstructure of the covariance operator. However, eigenproblems are notoriously hard to solve explicitly and closed form solutions are known only in a limited number of cases. In this paper we set up a framework for the spectral analysis of the fractional type covariance operators, corresponding to an important family of processes, which includes the fractional Brownian motion and its noise. We obtain accurate asymptotic approximations for the eigenvalues and the eigenfunctions. Our results provide a key to several problems, whose solution is long known in the standard Brownian case, but was missing in the more general fractional setting. This includes computation of the exact limits of $L^2$-small ball probabilities and asymptotic analysis of singularly perturbed integral equations, arising in mathematical physics and applied probability.

Statistical analysis of the mixed fractional Ornstein--Uhlenbeck process

This paper addresses the problem of estimating drift parameter of the Ornstein - Uhlenbeck type process, driven by the sum of independent standard and fractional Brownian motions. The maximum likelihood estimator is shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal in the large-sample limit, using some recent results on the canonical representation and spectral structure of mixed processes.

Mixed Gaussian processes: A filtering approach

This paper presents a new approach to the analysis of mixed processes \[X_t=B_t+G_t,\qquad t\in[0,T],\] where $B_t$ is a Brownian motion and $G_t$ is an independent centered Gaussian process. We obtain a new canonical innovation representation of $X$, using linear filtering theory. When the kernel \[K(s,t)=\frac{\partial^2}{\partial s\,\partial t}\mathbb{E}G_tG_s,\qquad s\ne t\] has a weak singularity on the diagonal, our results generalize the classical innovation formulas beyond the square integrable setting. For kernels with stronger singularity, our approach is applicable to processes with additional "fractional" structure, including the mixed fractional Brownian motion from mathematical finance. We show how previously-known measure equivalence relations and semimartingale properties follow from our canonical representation in a unified way, and complement them with new formulas for Radon-Nikodym densities.

Gärtner-Ellis condition for squared asymptotically stationary Gaussian processes

The Gärtner-Ellis condition for the square of an asymptotically stationary Gaussian process is established. The same limit holds for the conditional distri-bution given any fixed initial point, which entails weak multiplicative ergodicity. The limit is shown to be the Laplace transform of a convolution of Gamma distributions with Poisson compound of exponentials. A proof based on Wiener-Hopf factorization induces a probabilistic interpretation of the limit in terms of a regression problem.

Homogenization of random parabolic operators. Diffusion approximation

The paper deals with homogenization of divergence form second order parabolic operators whose coefficients are periodic in spatial variables and random stationary in time. Under proper mixing assumptions, we study the limit behaviour of the normalized difference between solutions of the original and the homogenized problems. The asymptotic behaviour of this difference depends crucially on the ratio between spatial and temporal scaling factors. Here we study the case of self-similar parabolic diffusion scaling.

Asymptotic properties of the MLE for the autoregressive process coefficients under stationary Gaussian noise

In this paper we are interested in the Maximum Likelihood Estimator (MLE) of the vector parameter of an autoregressive process of order $p$ with regular stationary Gaussian noise. We exhibit the large sample asymptotical properties of the MLE under very mild conditions. Simulations are done for fractional Gaussian noise (fGn), autoregressive noise (AR(1)) and moving average noise (MA(1)).
