On the moduli space of semi-stable plane sheaves with Euler characteristic one and supported on sextic curves

We study the moduli space of Gieseker semi-stable sheaves on the complex projective plane supported on sextic curves and having Euler characteristic one. We determine locally free resolutions of length one for all such sheaves. We decompose the moduli space into strata which occur naturally as quotients modulo actions of certain algebraic groups. In some cases we give concrete geometric descriptions of the strata.

On some Quotients Modulo Nonreductive Groups

We show the existence of geometric quotients for the spaces of certain classes of morphisms of sheaves on projective space, modulo the canonical action of the group of automorphisms.

On the geometry of the moduli spaces of semistable sheaves supported on plane quartics

We decompose each moduli space of semistable sheaves on the complex projective plane with support of dimension one and degree four into locally closed subvarieties, each subvariety being the good or geometric quotient of a set of morphisms of locally free sheaves modulo a reductive or a nonreductive group. We find locally free resolutions of length one of all these sheaves and describe them.

On two Notions of Semistability

We show that certain semistable sheaves on the projective plane with linear Hilbert polynomial are cokernels of semistable morphisms of decomposable sheaves. We exhibit certain locally closed subvarieties of moduli spaces of semistable sheaves as quotients modulo nonreductive groups.

On Vector Bundles of Finite Order

We study growth of holomorphic vector bundles E over smooth affine manifolds. We define Finsler metrics of finite order on E by estimates on the holomorphic bisectional curvature. These estimates are very similar to the ones used by Griffiths and Cornalba to define Hermitian metrics of finite order. We then generalize the Vanishing Theorem of Griffiths and Cornalba to the Finsler context. We develop a value distribution theory for holomorphic maps from the projectivization of E to projective space. We show that the projectivization of E can be immersed into a projective space of sufficiently large dimension via a map of finite order.
