Zero noise limit for multidimensional SDEs driven by a pointy gradient

The purpose of the article is to address the limiting behavior of the solutions of stochastic differential equations driven by a pointy $d$-dimensional gradient as the intensity of the underlying Brownian motion tends to $0$. By pointy gradient, we here mean that the drift derives from a potential that is ${\mathcal C}^{1,1}$ on any compact subset that does not contain the origin. As a matter of fact, the corresponding deterministic version of the differential equation may have an infinite number of solutions when initialized from $0_{{\mathbb R}^d}$, in which case the limit theorem proved in the paper reads as a selection theorem of the solutions to the zero noise system. Generally speaking, our result says that, under suitable conditions, the probability that the particle leaves the origin by going through regions of higher potential tends to $1$ as the intensity of the noise tends to $0$. In particular, our result extends the earlier one due to Bafico and Baldi for the zero noise limit of one dimensional stochastic differential equations.

Well-posedness by noise for scalar conservation laws

We consider stochastic scalar conservation laws with spatially inhomogeneous flux. The regularity of the flux function with respect to its spatial variable is assumed to be low, so that entropy solutions are not necessarily unique in the corresponding deterministic scalar conservation law. We prove that perturbing the system by noise leads to well-posedness.

The enhanced Sanov theorem and propagation of chaos

We establish a Sanov type large deviation principle for an ensemble of interacting Brownian rough paths. As application a large deviations for the ($k$-layer, enhanced) empirical measure of weakly interacting diffusions is obtained. This in turn implies a propagation of chaos result in rough path spaces and allows for a robust subsequent analysis of the particle system and its McKean-Vlasov type limit, as shown in two corollaries.

Existence and uniqueness for stochastic 2D Euler flows with bounded vorticity

Strong existence and pathwise uniqueness of solutions with $L^{\infty}$-vorticity of 2D stochastic Euler equations is proved. The noise is multiplicative and involves first derivatives. A Lagrangian approach is implemented, where a stochastic flow solving a nonlinear flow equation is constructed. Stability under regularization is also proved.

Noise prevents infinite stretching of the passive field in a stochastic vector advection equation

A linear stochastic vector advection equation is considered; the equation may model a passive magnetic field in a random fluid. When the driving velocity field is rough but deterministic, in particular just Hölder continuous and bounded, one can construct examples of infinite stretching of the passive field, arising from smooth initial conditions. The purpose of the paper is to prove that infinite stretching is prevented if the driving velocity field contains in addition a white noise component.
