Second order rectifiability of varifolds of bounded mean curvature

We prove that the support of an $ m $ dimensional rectifiable varifold with a uniform lower bound on the density and bounded generalized mean curvature can be covered $ \mathscr{H}^{m} $ almost everywhere by a countable union of $m$ dimensional submanifolds of class $ \mathcal{C}^{2} $. We obtain this result using the notion of curvature of arbitrary closed sets originally developed in stochastic geometry and extending to our geometric setting techniques developed by Trudinger in the theory of viscosity solutions of PDE's.

ABP inequalities for singular submanifolds of bounded mean curvature

Employing a notion of curvature for arbitrary closed sets we prove an ABP-type estimate for a class of singular submanifolds of arbitrary codimension and bounded mean curvature recently introduced by B. White. A weak-Harnack-type estimate is then derived using the ABP estimate. These results generalize analogous results by O. Savin for viscosity solutions of the minimal surface equation.

A geometric second-order-rectifiable stratification for closed subsets of Euclidean space

Defining the $m$-th stratum of a closed subset of an $n$ dimensional Euclidean space to consist of those points, where it can be touched by a ball from at least $n-m$ linearly independent directions, we establish that the $m$-th stratum is second-order rectifiable of dimension $m$ and a Borel set. This was known for convex sets, but is new even for sets of positive reach. The result is based on a new criterion for second-order rectifiability.

Rectifiability and approximate differentiability of higher order for sets

The main goal of this paper is to develop a concept of approximate differentiability of higher order for subsets of the Euclidean space that allows to characterize higher order rectifiable sets, extending somehow well known facts for functions. We emphasize that for every subset $ A $ of the Euclidean space and for every integer $ k \geq 2 $ we introduce the approximate differential of order $ k $ of $ A $ and we prove it is a Borel map whose domain is a (possibly empty) Borel set. This concept could be helpful to deal with higher order rectifiable sets in applications.
