Quantum gates with parametrically driven multi-qubit couplers

Superconducting quantum processors could significantly profit from enhanced connectivity together with precise control of interactions and gates between qubits. Here we investigate plaquettes of four qubits that are coupled via a central tunable coupling circuit, so that not only gates between qubits connected by an edge of the plaquette can be executed but also between qubits across the diagonal. By numerically and analytically analyzing parametrically driven processes, we explore $\sqrt{\text{iSWAP}}$-gates between any pair of qubits, also across the diagonal, as well as three-qubit interactions and gates. For experimentally available circuit parameters, we for example find $\sqrt{\text{iSWAP}}$-gates with a gate time of 50 ns and 99.9\% fidelity, which is decreased to 99.4\% if two such gates are executed in parallel on disjoint qubit pairs in the plaquette. For three-qubit gates we find fidelities of 95\% fidelity at a gate time of 200 ns.

Dressed Energy Levels in Strongly Interacting Atoms

We investigate the effect of strong interaction in the dressed energy levels of the two level emitters. Strong dipole-dipole interactions give rise to new sidebands in the fluorescence spectrum due to specific couplings among the collective dressed levels which in turn depends on the spatial configuration of atoms. These couplings are the main responsible for the frequencies and variety of sidebands. We explain the general method for finding the dressed energy levels for a system of any number of strongly coupled atoms and we solve this problem for two different spatial configurations of three coupled two-level emitters. We show that the coupling among dressed levels and consequently energies and number of sidebands in the fluorescence spectrum are different for each configuration. Thus the fluorescence spectrum of strongly interacting atoms contains information about the number and configuration of atoms.

Modeling the atomtronic analog of an optical polarizing beam splitter, a half-wave plate, and a quarter-wave plate for phonons of the motional state of two trapped atom

In this paper we propose a scheme to model the phonon analog of optical elements, including a polarizing beam splitter, a half- wave plate, and a quarter- wave plate, as well as an implementation of CNOT and Pauli gates, by using two atoms confined in a 2D plane. The internal states of the atoms are taken to be Rydberg circular states. Using this model we can manipulate the motional state of the atom, with possible applications in optomechanical integrated circuits for quantum information processing and quantum simulation. Towards this aim, we study the interaction of two trapped atoms with two circularly polarized Laguerre-Gaussian beams, in such a way that the beams illuminate selectively only one of the atoms.
