Tangle addition and the knots-quivers correspondence

We prove that the generating functions for the one row/column colored HOMFLY-PT invariants of arborescent links are specializations of the generating functions of the motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants of appropriate quivers that we naturally associate with these links. Our approach extends the previously established tangles-quivers correspondence for rational tangles to algebraic tangles by developing gluing formulas for HOMFLY-PT skein generating functions under Conway's tangle addition. As a consequence, we prove the conjectural links-quivers correspondence of Kucharski-Reineke-Sto\v{s}i\'c-Sulkowski for all arborescent links.

A new solution to square matrix completion problem

In this paper we give a novel solution to a classical completion problem for square matrices. This problem was studied by many authors through time, and it is completely solved in [2, 3]. In this paper we relate this classical problem to a purely combinatorial question involving partitions of integers and their majorizations studied in [4]. We show surprising relations in these approaches and as a corollary, we obtain a new combinatorial result on partitions of integers.

Rational links and DT invariants of quivers

We prove that the generating functions for the colored HOMFLY-PT polynomials of rational links are specializations of the generating functions of the motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants of appropriate quivers that we naturally associate with these links. This shows that the conjectural links-quivers correspondence of Kucharski-Reineke-Sto\v{s}i\'c-Su{\l}kowski as well as the LMOV conjecture hold for rational links. Along the way, we extend the links-quivers correspondence to tangles and, thus, explore elements of a skein theory for motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants.

Knots-quivers correspondence

We introduce and explore the relation between knot invariants and quiver representation theory, which follows from the identification of quiver quantum mechanics in D-brane systems representing knots. We identify various structural properties of quivers associated to knots, and identify such quivers explicitly in many examples, including some infinite families of knots, all knots up to 6 crossings, and some knots with thick homology. Moreover, based on these properties, we derive previously unknown expressions for colored HOMFLY-PT polynomials and superpolynomials for various knots. For all knots, for which we identify the corresponding quivers, the LMOV conjecture for all symmetric representations (i.e. integrality of relevant BPS numbers) is automatically proved.

BPS states, knots and quivers

We argue how to identify supersymmetric quiver quantum mechanics description of BPS states, which arise in string theory in brane systems representing knots. This leads to a surprising relation between knots and quivers: to a given knot we associate a quiver, so that various types of knot invariants are expressed in terms of characteristics of a moduli space of representations of the corresponding quiver. This statement can be regarded as a novel type of categorification of knot invariants, and among its various consequences we find that Labastida-Mariño-Ooguri-Vafa (LMOV) invariants of a knot can be expressed in terms of motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants of the corresponding quiver; this proves integrality of LMOV invariants, conjectured originally based on string theory and M-theory arguments.

Sequencing BPS Spectra

This paper provides both a detailed study of color-dependence of link homologies, as realized in physics as certain spaces of BPS states, and a broad study of the behavior of BPS states in general. We consider how the spectrum of BPS states varies as continuous parameters of a theory are perturbed. This question can be posed in a wide variety of physical contexts, and we answer it by proposing that the relationship between unperturbed and perturbed BPS spectra is described by a spectral sequence. These general considerations unify previous applications of spectral sequence techniques to physics, and explain from a physical standpoint the appearance of many spectral sequences relating various link homology theories to one another. We also study structural properties of colored HOMFLY homology for links and evaluate Poincare polynomials in numerous examples. Among these structural properties is a novel "sliding" property, which can be explained by using (refined) modular S-matrix. This leads to the identification of modular transformations in Chern-Simons theory and 3d N=2 theory via the 3d/3d correspondence. Lastly, we introduce the notion of associated varieties as classical limits of recursion relations of colored superpolynomials of links, and study their properties.

On extended graphical calculus for categorified quantum $sl(n)$

We study the properties of the extended graphical calculus for categorified quantum $sl(n)$. The main results include proofs of Reidemeister 2 and Reidemeister 3-like moves involving strands corresponding to arbitrary thicknesses and arbitrary colors -- the results that were anounced in [M. Stosic: Indecomposable objects and Lusztig's canonical basis, Math. Res. Lett. 22, no. 1 (2015), 245-278].

Quadruply-graded colored homology of knots

We conjecture the existence of four independent gradings in the colored HOMFLY homology. We describe these gradings explicitly for the rectangular colored homology of torus knots and make qualitative predictions of various interesting structures and symmetries in the colored homology of general knots. We also give a simple representation-theoretic model for the HOMFLY homology of the unknot colored by any representation. While some of these structures have a natural interpretation in the physical realization of knot homologies based on counting supersymmetric configurations (BPS states, instantons, and vortices), others are completely new. They suggest new geometric and physical realizations of colored HOMFLY homology as the Hochschild homology of the category of branes in a Landau-Ginzburg B-model or, equivalently, in the mirror A-model. Supergroups and supermanifolds are surprisingly ubiquitous in all aspects of this work.

3d analogs of Argyres-Douglas theories and knot homologies

We study singularities of algebraic curves associated with 3d N=2 theories that have at least one global flavor symmetry. Of particular interest is a class of theories T_K labeled by knots, whose partition functions package Poincare polynomials of the S^r-colored HOMFLY homologies. We derive the defining equation, called the super-A-polynomial, for algebraic curves associated with many new examples of 3d N=2 theories T_K and study its singularity structure. In particular, we catalog general types of singularities that presumably exist for all knots and propose their physical interpretation. A computation of super-A-polynomials is based on a derivation of corresponding superpolynomials, which is interesting in its own right and relies solely on a structure of differentials in S^r-colored HOMFLY homologies.

Homological algebra of knots and BPS states

It is known that knot homologies admit a physical description as spaces of open BPS states. We study operators and algebras acting on these spaces. This leads to a very rich story, which involves wall crossing phenomena, algebras of closed BPS states acting on spaces of open BPS states, and deformations of Landau-Ginzburg models. One important application to knot homologies is the existence of "colored differentials" that relate homological invariants of knots colored by different representations. Based on this structure, we formulate a list of properties of the colored HOMFLY homology that categorifies the colored HOMFLY polynomial. By calculating the colored HOMFLY homology for symmetric and anti-symmetric representations, we find a remarkable "mirror symmetry" between these triply-graded theories.

A diagrammatic categorification of the q-Schur algebra

In this paper we categorify the q-Schur algebra S(n,d) as a quotient of Khovanov and Lauda's diagrammatic 2-category U(sln). We also show that our 2-category contains Soergel's monoidal category of bimodules of type A, which categorifies the Hecke algebra H(d), as a full sub-2-category if d does not exceed n. For the latter result we use Elias and Khovanov's diagrammatic presentation of Soergel's monoidal category of type A.

Indecomposable 1-morphisms of \dot{U}^+_3 and the canonical basis of U_q^+(sl_3)

We compute the indecomposable objects of \dot{U}^+_3 - the category that categorifies the positive half of the quantum sl_3, and we decompose an arbitrary object into indecomposable ones. On decategorified level we obtain the Lusztig's canonical basis of the positive half U^+_q(sl_3) of the quantum sl_3. We also categorify the higher quantum Serre relations in U_q^+(sl_3), by defining a certain complex in the homotopy category of $\dot{U}^+_3$ that is homotopic to zero. We work with the category $\dot{U}^+_3$ that is defined over the ring of integers. This paper is based on the (extended) diagrammatic calculus introduced to categorify quantum groups.

Extended graphical calculus for categorified quantum sl(2)

A categorification of the Beilinson-Lusztig-MacPherson form of the quantum sl(2) was constructed in the paper arXiv:0803.3652 by the second author. Here we enhance the graphical calculus introduced and developed in that paper to include two-morphisms between divided powers one-morphisms and their compositions. We obtain explicit diagrammatical formulas for the decomposition of products of divided powers one-morphisms as direct sums of indecomposable one-morphisms; the latter are in a bijection with the Lusztig canonical basis elements. These formulas have integral coefficients and imply that one of the main results of Lauda's paper---identification of the Grothendieck ring of his 2-category with the idempotented quantum sl(2)---also holds when the 2-category is defined over the ring of integers rather than over a field.

Hochschild homology of certain Soergel bimodules

In this paper we compute Hochschild homology of certain Soergel bimodules. Moreover, we describe explicitly the graded bimodule maps between Soergel bimodules. This computations are motivated by the categorifications of the colored HOMFLY-PT polynomial for links via Hochschild homology of Soergel bimodules.

The 1,2-coloured HOMFLY-PT link homology

In this paper we define the 1,2-coloured HOMFLY-PT link homology and prove that it is a link invariant. We conjecture that this homology categorifies the coloured HOMFLY-PT polynomial for links whose components are labelled 1 or 2.

Sl(N) link homology using foams and the Kapustin-Li formula

We use foams to give a topological construction of a rational link homology categorifying the slN link invariant, for N>3. To evaluate closed foams we use the Kapustin-Li formula adapted to foams by Khovanov and Rozansky. We show that for any link our homology is isomorphic to Khovanov and Rozansky's.

Homology of torus links

In this paper we show that there is a cut-off in the Khovanov homology of $(2k,2kn)$-torus links, namely that the maximal homological degree of non-zero homology group of $(2k,2kn)$-torus link is $2k^2n$. Furthermore, we calculate explicitely the homology groups in homological degree $2k^2n$ and prove that it coincides with the centre of the ring $H^k$ of crossingless matchings, introduced by M. Khovanov in \cite{tan}. Also we give an explicit formula for the ranks of the homology groups of $(3,n)$-torus knots for every $n\in\N$.
