Superstring Backgrounds in String Geometry

String geometry theory is a candidate of the non-perturbative formulation of string theory. In order to determine the string vacuum, we need to clarify how superstring backgrounds are described in string geometry theory. In this paper, we show that all the type IIA, IIB, SO(32) type I, and SO(32) and $E_8 \times E_8$ heterotic superstring backgrounds are embedded in configurations of the fields of a single string geometry model. Especially, we show that the configurations satisfy the equations of motion of the string geometry model in $α' \to 0$ if and only if the embedded string backgrounds satisfy the equations of motion of the supergravities, respectively. This means that classical dynamics of the string backgrounds are described as a part of classical dynamics in string geometry theory. Furthermore, we define an energy of the configurations in the string geometry model because they do not depend on the string geometry time. A string background can be determined by minimizing the energy.

Magnetized Riemann Surface of Higher Genus and Eta Quotients of Semiprime Level

We study the zero mode solutions of a Dirac operator on a magnetized Riemann surface of higher genus. In this paper, we define a Riemann surface of higher genus as a quotient manifold of the Poincar$\acute{\text{e}}$ upper half-plane by a congruence subgroup, especially $Γ_{0}(N)$. We present a method to construct basis of cusp forms since the zero mode solutions should be cusp forms. To confirm our method, we select a congruence subgroup of semiprime level and show the demonstration to some lower weights. In addition, we discuss Yukawa couplings and matrix regularization as applications.

Local String Compactifications from Matrix Model

Matrix models are proposed as nonperturbative formulations of superstring theory. We study a concrete correspondence of the analytical result between the matrix model and the field theory. In this paper, we focus on a fuzzy sphere and a complex projective space. We show a wave functions/states correspondence of the zero modes of the Dirac operators under the 't Hooft-Polyakov monopole background on the continuous/fuzzy sphere. In addition, we propose a Laplacian for a scalar sector of the matrix model and obtain a concrete construction of it.

Wilson-line Scalar as a Nambu-Goldstone Boson in Flux Compactifications and Higher-loop Corrections

We study a scalar zero mode originated from extradimensional components of a gauge field in a six-dimensional theory compactified on a magnetized torus. We confirm it is a Nambu-Goldstone boson of the translational symmetry on the torus which is breaking spontaneously due to magnetic flux. We also show explicitly it is massless up to the two-loop level. Moreover, we discuss full order contributions by considering the effective potential.

Matrix model and Yukawa couplings on the noncommutative torus

The IKKT model is proposed as a non-perturbative formulation of superstring theory. We propose a Dirac operator on the noncommutative torus, which is consistent with the IKKT model, based on noncommutative geometry. Next, we consider zero-mode equations of the Dirac operator with magnetic fluxes. We find that zero-mode solutions have the chirality and the generation structures similar to the commutative case. Moreover, we compute Yukawa couplings of chiral matter fields.

Zero-mode product expansions and higher order couplings in gauge backgrounds

We study a four-dimensional low-energy effective field theory derived from extra dimensional field theories with general gauge backgrounds. We find that products among fermionic zero-modes and lightest scalar modes are expanded by other fermionic zero-modes and lightest scalar modes. Using this aspect, we show that higher-order couplings among the fermionic zero-modes and the lightest scalar mode can be decomposed into three-point couplings. This selection rule originating from a structure of the Dirac-type operators indicates the operator product expansion the underlying conformal field theory.

Axion decay constants at special points in type II string theory

We propose the mechanism to disentangle the decay constant of closed string axion from the string scale in the framework of type II string theory on Calabi-Yau manifold. We find that the quantum and geometrical corrections in the prepotential that arise at some special points in the moduli space widen the window of axion decay constant. In particular, around the small complex structure points, the axion decay constant becomes significantly lower than the string scale. We also discuss the moduli stabilization leading to the phenomenologically attractive low-scale axion decay constant.
