Radiative corrections to decays of the 125 GeV Higgs boson in the complex Higgs triplet model

The extension of the Higgs sector with an additional complex triplet field is often considered for generating the neutrino mass by the Type-II seesaw mechanism. Such an extension generally predicts $ρ\neq1$, where $ρ$ is the electroweak rho parameter at the tree level, so that the renormalization of the electroweak parameters is different from models like the standard model (SM) and two Higgs doublet models. In this paper, we present a full set of radiative corrections to decays of the 125 GeV Higgs boson ($h$) in this model. One-loop contributions of the extra Higgs bosons as well as SM fermions and gauge bosons to the decay rates of $h$ are calculated in the on-shell scheme. Gauge dependence appearing in the counter terms of mixing angles is eliminated by the pinch technique. Higher-order QCD corrections are also implemented. We find that the decay rates can significantly deviate from the predictions in the SM and other extensions such as the two Higgs doublet models and the singlet model. For example, the decay rates of $h\to WW^\ast$ and $h\to ZZ^\ast$ can be a few percent larger than the SM value under current experimental and theoretical constraints. In this case, deviations in $h\to γγ$ and Higgs self-coupling can reach about $-20\%$ and $100\%$, respectively. The pattern of the deviations is different from the other extended Higgs models. These characteristic predictions are expected to be detected at the High-Luminosity LHC or future Higgs factories.

Leading two-loop corrections to the Higgs di-photon decay in the Inert Doublet Model

Leading two-loop contributions to the di-photon decay of the Higgs boson are evaluated for the first time in the Inert Doublet Model (IDM). We employ for this calculation the Higgs low-energy theorem, meaning that we obtain corrections to the Higgs decay process by taking Higgs-field derivatives of the leading two-loop contributions to the photon self-energy. Specifically, we have included corrections involving inert BSM Higgs bosons and gauge bosons, as well as external-leg contributions involving inert scalars, gauge bosons and fermions. Our calculation has been performed with a full on-shell renormalization, and in the gauge-less limit. Moreover, we performed two independent calculations, using the background-field method and the pinch technique, in order to apply the Higgs low-energy theorem consistently, and found full agreement between the two calculations. We investigate our results numerically in two scenarios of the IDM: one with a light dark matter (DM) candidate (Higgs resonance scenario), and another with all additional scalars heavy (heavy Higgs scenario). In both cases, we find that the inclusion of two-loop corrections qualitatively modifies the behavior of the decay width, compared with the one-loop ($i.e.$ leading) order, and that they increase the deviation from the Standard Model. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the inclusion of the newly-computed two-loop corrections is essential to reliably interpret the observation or non-observation of a deviation in the Higgs di-photon decay width at current and future colliders.

Electroweak baryogenesis in 2HDM without EDM cancellation

We study two Higgs doublet models with successful electroweak baryogenesis but without cancellations of electric dipole moments (EDMs). For the baryogenesis, additional scalar bosons are favored to couple mainly with the top quark with CP violations. However, if they also couple to light fermions of the Standard Model, the model is limited severely by EDMs, and additional CP phases irrelevant to the baryogenesis are often introduced to cancel the contributions to the EDMs. Alternatively, we consider a scenario where the light-fermion couplings are suppressed to avoid the constraints. In our scenario, it is found that the leading contributions arise in the top-quark EDMs at the two-loop level. They induce the electron, neutron, and proton EDMs via radiative corrections. Since there is no additional CP-violating phase, they are correlated with the baryon asymmetry. We show that our scenario is compatible with the current experimental bounds and is within the scope of future EDM experiments.

Heavy photophobic ALP at the LHC

We study the photophobic ALP model in high-mass regions under LHC Run-II. Since the ALP is predominantly coupled with electroweak gauge bosons such as $ZZ$, $WW$, and $Zγ$, and less with di-photon, the model may be probed via multi-boson final-state processes. We find that on-shell ALP productions with $Zγ$ final states currently provide the best sensitivities for $m_{a} > 40~{\rm GeV}$.

H-COUP Version 3: A program for one-loop corrected decays of any Higgs bosons in non-minimal Higgs models

The H-COUP program is provided as a package of Fortran codes, which can compute observables related to Higgs bosons including radiative corrections in various extended Higgs sectors. We give a manual for the latest version of H-COUP (H-COUP_3.0), in which decay rates and branching ratios of all the Higgs bosons can be calculated at one-loop level in EW and Higgs interactions with QCD corrections in the Higgs singlet model, four types of the two Higgs doublet model with a softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry, and the inert doublet model. The previous version (H-COUP_2.0) can evaluate those only for the standard model like Higgs boson with the mass of 125 GeV ($h$). In H-COUP_3.0, renormalized quantities are computed based on the gauge independent on-shell renormalization scheme. The source code of H-COUP_3.0 can be downloaded via the following link: \url{http://www-het.phys.sci.osaka-u.ac.jp/~hcoup}. By using H-COUP_3.0, we can compare the precise measurements of the properties of $h$ and direct searches for additional Higgs bosons with their predictions at one-loop level, by which we can reconstruct the structure of the Higgs sector.

Higgs Probes of axion-like particles

We study axion-like particle contributions to the Higgs boson decays. The particle is assumed to couple with the standard model electroweak gauge bosons. Although direct productions of axion-like particles have often been discussed, we investigate indirect contributions to the Higgs boson decays into fermions, photons, $W$, and $Z$ bosons at the one-loop level. It is found that the corrections to the fermions are suppressed, whereas precise measurements of the di-photon channel of the Higgs boson decay can provide a significant probe of the model especially when the axion-like particle is heavy and its coupling to di-photon is suppressed.

Electroweak precision test of axion-like particles

We study the contributions of an axion-like particle to the electroweak precision observables. The particle is assumed to couple with the standard model electroweak gauge bosons. We provide the formulae of the contributions valid for any mass of the axion-like particle. It is found that the effects arise not only via the oblique $S$ and $U$ parameters but also via radiative corrections to the gauge couplings. Besides, the decay of $Z\to aγ$ affects the total width of the $Z$ boson. All of those contributions are considered simultaneously in the global fit analysis of the electroweak precision observables. Also, we discuss the recent CDF result of the $W$-boson mass measurement. Since the model is tightly constrained by flavor and collider constraints, it is found that the discrepancy from the standard model prediction is solved only when the axion-like particle is heavier than 500 GeV and its coupling to di-photon is suppressed.

Radiative corrections to decay branching ratios of the CP-odd Higgs boson in two Higgs doublet models

We calculate radiative corrections to decay rates of CP-odd Higgs boson $A$ for various decay modes in the four types of two Higgs doublet models with the softly broken discrete $Z_{2}$ symmetry. The decay branching ratios are evaluated at the next-to-leading order for electroweak corrections and the next-to-next-to-leading order for QCD corrections. We comprehensively study the impact of the electroweak corrections on the decay rates and the branching ratios. We find that the radiative corrections can sizably modify the branching ratios, especially for the $A\to Zh$ decay mode in the nearly alignment scenario, where coupling constants of the SM-like Higgs boson $h$ are close to those in the standard model. We also show correlations between the branching ratios of $A$ and the scaling factor of the SM-like Higgs boson coupling including higher-order corrections. In addition, we show characteristic predictions on the decay pattern depending on the types of Yukawa interaction, by which we can discriminate the types of Yukawa interaction in future collider experiments.

Radiative corrections to decays of charged Higgs bosons in two Higgs doublet models

We calculate the next-to-leading order (NLO) electroweak (EW) corrections to decay rates of charged Higgs bosons for various decay modes in the four types of two Higgs doublet models (THDMs) with the softly broken discrete Z_2 symmetry. Decay branching ratios of charged Higgs bosons are evaluated including NLO EW corrections, as well as QCD corrections up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO). We comprehensively study impacts of the NLO EW corrections to the branching ratios in nearly alignment scenarios where the couplings constants of the Higgs boson with the mass of 125 GeV are close to those predicted in the standard model. Furthermore, in the nearly alignment scenario, we discuss whether or not the four types of THDMs can be distinguished via the decays of charged Higgs bosons. We find that characteristic predictions of charged Higgs branching ratios can be obtained for all types of the THDMs, by which each type of the THDMs are separated, and information on the internal parameters of the THDMs can be extracted from the magnitudes of the various decay branching ratios.

Next-to-leading-order corrections to the Higgs strahlung process from electron-positron collisions in extended Higgs models

We present the cross section for $e^{+}e^{-}\to hZ$ with arbitrary sets of electron and $Z$ boson polarizations at the full next-to-leading order in various extended Higgs models, such as the Higgs singlet model (HSM), the inert doublet model (IDM) and the two Higgs doublet model (2HDM). We systematically perform complete one-loop calculations to the helicity amplitudes in the on-shell renormalization scheme, and present the full analytic results as well as numerical evaluations. The deviation $ΔR^{hZ}$ in the total cross section from its standard model (SM) prediction is comprehensively analyzed, and the differences among these models are discussed in details. We find that new physics effects appearing in the renormalized $hZZ$ vertex almost govern the behavior of $ΔR^{hZ}$, and it takes a negative value in most cases. The possible size of $ΔR^{hZ}$ reaches several percent under the theoretical and experimental bounds. We also analyze the deviation $ΔR^{hZ}_{XY}$ in the total cross section times decay branching ratios of the discovered Higgs boson by utilizing the $\texttt{H-COUP}$ program. It is found that the four types of 2HDMs can be discriminated by analyzing the correlation between $ΔR^{hZ}_{ττ}$ and $ΔR^{hZ}_{bb}$ and those between $ΔR^{hZ}_{ττ}$ and $ΔR^{hZ}_{cc}$. Furthermore, the HSM and the IDM can be discriminated from the 2HDMs by measuring $ΔR^{hZ}_{WW}$. These signatures can be tested by precision measurements at future Higgs factories such as the International Linear Collider.

New scenario for aligned Higgs couplings originated from the twisted custodial symmetry at high energies

We investigate a new scenario of the two Higgs doublet model, where the current experimental data for the electroweak rho parameter and those for the Higgs boson couplings can be simultaneously explained. In this scenario, the two Higgs doublet model is supposed to be a low energy effective theory up to a high energy scale $Λ$, above which a fundamental theory should appear. It is assumed that the Higgs potential respects a global symmetry at $Λ$ (the twisted custodial symmetry), which is to be given as a consequence of the global symmetry structure of the fundamental theory above $Λ$. By the analysis using one-loop renormalization group equations, the above experimental data can be explained in a natural way even when the masses of the extra Higgs bosons are near the electroweak scale. We also discuss the predictions on the mass spectrum of the additional Higgs bosons and also those on coupling constants of the standard-model-like Higgs boson, which make it possible to test this scenario at current and future collider experiments.

Probing extended Higgs sectors by the synergy between direct searches at the LHC and precision tests at future lepton colliders

We discuss a possibility that the parameter space of the two Higgs doublet model is significantly narrowed down by considering the synergy between direct searches for additional Higgs bosons at the LHC and its luminosity upgraded operation and precision measurements of the Higgs boson properties at future electron-positron colliders such as the International Linear Collider. We show that, in the case where the coupling constants of the discovered Higgs boson are slightly different from the predicted values in the standard model, most of the parameter space is explored by the direct searches of extra Higgs bosons, in particular for the decays of the extra Higgs bosons into the discovered Higgs boson, and also by the theoretical arguments such as perturbative unitarity and vacuum stability. This can be done because there appears an upper limit on the mass of the extra Higgs bosons as long as the deviation exists in the Higgs boson coupling. We also show that in the alignment limit where all the Higgs boson couplings take the standard model like values most of the parameter space cannot be excluded because most of the Higgs to Higgs decays are suppressed and also there is no upper limit on the masses from the theoretical arguments.

Exploring the global symmetry structure of the Higgs potential via same-sign pair production of charged Higgs bosons

We propose a novel process where singly charged Higgs bosons are produced in a same-sign pair via vector boson fusion at hadron colliders in two Higgs doublet models. The process directly relates to the global symmetry structure of the Higgs potential. The produced charged Higgs bosons predominantly decay into a tau lepton and the neutrino or into a pair of top and bottom quarks, depending on the type of Yukawa interactions. We evaluate the signal and the background for the both cases at the CERN Large Hadron Collider and future higher-energy hadron colliders. We find that the process can be feasible and useful to explore the nature of the Higgs potential.
