Reevaluation of Higgs-Mediated mu-e Transition in the MSSM

We discuss the $μ$-$e$ transition processes induced by non-holomorphic Yukawa interactions in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). When supersymmetry is broken, the coupling structures between Higgs doublets and leptons are modified and flavor-changing neutral currents could be generated. In the framework of the MSSM, we calculate those effects to the rates for $\meg$, $\meee$, and $μ$-$e$ conversion in nuclei. We perform more detailed calculations of the lepton flavor violating (LFV) operators in the heavy Higgs decoupling limit than previous works, and show the accurate $\tanβ$ dependence of them. Furthermore, we compare the contribution to the LFV operators mediated by Higgs bosons with the one generated gaugino/slepton exchange, and discuss the competition between these two effects.

WIMP dark matter in gauge-mediated SUSY breaking models and its phenomenology

We propose an extended version of the gauge-mediated SUSY breaking models where extra $SU(2)_L$ doublets and singlet field are introduced. These fields are assumed to be parity-odd under an additional matter parity. In this model, the lightest parity-odd particle among them would be dark matter in the Universe. In this paper, we discuss direct detection of the dark matter and the collider signatures of the model

A new idea to search for charged lepton flavor violation using a muonic atom

We propose a new process of mu(-) e(-) -> e(-) e(-) in a muonic atom for a quest of charged lepton flavor violation. The Coulomb attraction from the nucleus in a heavy muonic atom leads to significant enhancement in its rate, compared to mu(+) e(-) -> e(+) e(-). The upper limit of the branching ratio is estimated to be of the orders of O[10^(-17)-10^(-18)] for the photonic and the four Fermi interactions from the present experimental constraints. The search for this process could serve complementarily with the other relevant processes to shed lights upon the nature of charged lepton flavor violation.

Implications of CDMS II result on Higgs sector in the MSSM

We study implications of two dark matter candidate events at CDMS-II on the neutralino dark matter scenario in the supersymmetric standard model, in light of the recent lattice simulation on the strange quark content of a nucleon. The scattering rate of neutralino-nucleon is dominated by Higgs exchange processes and the mass of heavy Higgs boson is predicted for the neutralino of Bino-Higgsino mixing state. In the case of Wino-Higgsino mixing, the Higgs sector may not be constrained.

Stau relic density at the Big-Bang nucleosynthesis era consistent with the abundance of the light element nuclei in the coannihilation scenario

We calculate the relic density of stau at the beginning of the Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) era in the coannihilation scenario of minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). In this scenario, stau can be long-lived and form bound states with nuclei. We put constraints on the parameter space of MSSM by connecting the calculation of the relic density of stau to the observation of the light elements abundance, which strongly depends on the relic density of stau. Consistency between the theoretical prediction and the observational result, both of the dark matter abundance and the light elements abundance, requires the mass difference between the lighter stau and the lightest neutralino to be around 100MeV, the stau mass to be 300 -- 400 GeV, and the mixing angle of the left and right-handed staus to be $\sinθ_τ = (0.65 \textrm{--} 1)$.

The Universal Extra Dimensional Model with $S^2/Z_2$ extra-space

We propose a new Universal Extra Dimensional model that is defined on a six-dimensional spacetime which has a two-sphere orbifold $S^2/Z_2$ as an extra-space. We specify our model by choosing the gauge symmetry as SU(3)$\timesSU(2)\timesU(1)_Y \timesU(1)_X$, introducing field contents in six-dimensions as their zero modes correspond to the Standard model particles, and determining a boundary condition of these fields on orbifold $S^2/Z_2$. A background gauge field that belongs to U(1)$_X$ is introduced there, which is necessary to obtain massless chiral fermions in four-dimensional spacetime. We then analyze Kaluza-Klein(KK) mode expansion of the fields in our model and derive the mass spectrum of the KK particles. We find that the lightest KK particles are the 1st KK particle of massless gauge bosons at tree level. We also discuss the KK parity of the KK modes in our model and confirm the stability of the lightest KK particle which is important for dark matter physics.

Higgs Production via Gluon Fusion in a Six Dimensional Universal Extra Dimension Model on S^2/Z_2

We investigate Higgs boson production process via gluon fusion at LHC in our six dimensional universal extra dimension model compactified on a spherical orbifold S^2/Z_2. We find a striking result that Higgs production cross section in our model is predicted to be 30(10)% enhancement comparing to the predictions of the Standard Model (the minimal universal extra dimension model) for the compactification scale of order 1 TeV.

Productions of second Kaluza-Klein gauge bosons in the minimal universal extra dimension model at LHC

We calculate the production rates of the second Kaluza-Klein (KK) photon $γ^{(2)}$ and Z boson $Z^{(2)}$ at the LHC including all significant processes in the minimal Universal Extra Dimension (MUED) model. For discrimination of the MUED model from other TeV scale models at the LHC, $γ^{(2)}$ and $Z^{(2)}$ play a crucial role. In order to discuss the discrimination and calculate their production rates, we derive KK number violating operators including the contribution of the top Yukawa coupling. Using these operators, we accurately calculate branching ratios of second KK particles. In addition we find that these KK number violating operators provide new processes for $γ^{(2)}$ and $Z^{(2)}$ productions, such as cascade decay from second KK quarks produced through these operators. They have large contributions to their total production rates. In particular, these production processes give the dominant contribution for $γ^{(2)}$ production for $1/R \gtrsim 800$ GeV. As a result, with an integrated luminosity of 100 fb$^{-1}$, the number of produced $γ^{(2)}$ and $Z^{(2)}$ are estimated as 10$^6$ - 10$^2$ for the compactification scale between 400 GeV and 2000 GeV.

Production Rate of Second KK Gauge Bosons in UED Models at LHC

We calculate the production rates of the second Kaluza-Klein (KK) photon $γ^{(2)}$ and Z boson $Z^{(2)}$ at the LHC including all significant processes in the minimal universal extra dimension (MUED) model. For discrimination of the MUED model from other TeV scale models in hadron collider experiments, $γ^{(2)}$ and $Z^{(2)}$ play a crucial role. In order to discuss the discrimination and calculate their production rates, we derive effective Lagrangian containing KK number violating operators. We show that KK number violating processes are extremely important for the compactification scale larger than 800 GeV. We find that, with an integrated luminosity of 100 fb$^{-1}$, $γ^{(2)}$ and $Z^{(2)}$ are produced 10$^6$ - 10$^2$ for the compactification scale between 400 GeV and 2000 GeV.

Measuring Lepton Flavour Violation at LHC with Long-Lived Slepton in the Coannihilation Region

When the mass difference between the lightest slepton, the NLSP, and the lightest neutralino, the LSP, is smaller than the tau mass, the lifetime of the lightest slepton increases in many orders of magnitude with respect to typical lifetimes of other supersymmetric particles. These small mass differences are possible in the MSSM and, for instance, they correspond to the coannihilation region of the CMSSM for $M_{1/2} \gsim 700$ GeV. In a general gravity-mediated MSSM, where the lightest supersymmetric particle is the neutralino, the lifetime of the lightest slepton is inversely proportional to the square of the intergenerational mixing in the slepton mass matrices. Such a long-lived slepton would produce a distinctive signature at LHC and a measurement of its lifetime would be relatively simple. Therefore, the long-lived slepton scenario offers an excellent opportunity to study lepton flavour violation at ATLAS and CMS detectors in the LHC and an improvement of the leptonic mass insertion bounds by more than five orders of magnitude would be possible.

Big-bang nucleosynthesis and the relic abundance of dark matter in a stau-neutralino coannihilation scenario

A scenario of the Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis is analyzed within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model which is consistent with a stau-neutralino coannihilation scenario to explain the relic abundance of dark matter. We find that we can account for the possible descrepancy of the abundance of $\mathrm{^{7}Li}$ between the observation and the prediction of the Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis by taking the mass of the neutralino as $300 \mathrm{GeV}$ and the mass difference between the stau and the neutralino as $(100 -- 120) MeV$. We can therefore simultaneously explain the abundance of the dark matter and that of $\mathrm{^{7}Li}$ by these values of parameters. The lifetime of staus in this scenario is predicted to be $O(100 -- 1000) sec$.

Universal Extra Dimension models with right-handed neutrinos

Relic abundance of dark matter is investigated in the framework of universal extra dimension (UED) models with right-handed neutrinos. These models are free from the KK graviton problem in the minimal UED model. The first KK particle of the right-handed neutrino is a dark matter candidate in this framework. When ordinary neutrino masses are large enough such as the degenerate mass spectrum case, the dark matter relic abundance can increase significantly. The scale of the extra dimension consistent with cosmological observations can be 500 GeV in the minimal setup of UED models with right-handed neutrinos.

Possible solution to the $^7$Li problem by the long lived stau

Modification of standard big-bang nucleosynthesis is considered in the minimal supersymmetric standard model to resolve the excessive theoretical prediction of the abundance of primordial lithium 7. We focus on the stau as a next-lightest superparticle, which is long lived due to its small mass difference with the lightest superparticle. It provides a number of additional decay processes of $\mathrm{^{7}Li}$ and $\mathrm{^{7}Be}$. A particularly important process is the internal conversion in the stau-nucleus bound state, which destroys the $\mathrm{^{7}Li}$ and $\mathrm{^{7}Be}$ effectively. We show that the modification can lead to a prediction consistent with the observed abundance of $\mathrm{^{7}Li}$.

The first KK particle of the right-handed neutrino is a candidate for dark matter in this framework. The scale of the extra dimension consistent with cosmological observations can be 500 GeV in the minimal setup of universal extra dimension models with right-handed neutrinos.

Relic abundance of dark matter in universal extra dimension models with right-handed neutrinos

Relic abundance of dark matter is investigated in the framework of universal extra dimension models with right-handed neutrinos. These models are free from the serious Kaluza-Klein (KK) graviton problem that the original universal extra dimension model has. The first KK particle of the right-handed neutrino is a candidate for dark matter in this framework, and its relic abundance is determined by three processes, (1) the decay of the KK photon into the first KK right-handed neutrino in the late universe, (2) production of the first KK right-handed neutrino from the thermal bath in the early universe, and (3) the decay of higher KK right-handed neutrinos into the first KK right-handed neutrino in the late universe. When ordinary neutrino masses are large enough such as the degenerate mass spectrum case, the last process contribute to the abundance significantly, even if the reheating temperature is low. The scale of the extra dimension consistent with cosmological observations can be 500 GeV in the minimal setup of universal extra dimension models with right-handed neutrinos.

Solving cosmological problem in universal extra dimension models by introducing Dirac neutrino

Universal extra dimension (UED) models with right-handed neutrinos are studied. The introduction of the neutrinos makes us possible not only to describe Dirac neutrino masses but also to solve the cosmological problem called the KK graviton problem. This problem is essentially caused by the late time decay of a KK photon into a KK graviton and a photon, and it distorts the spectrum of the cosmic microwave background or the diffuse photon. We point out that, once we introduce right-handed neutrinos to UED models, the KK photon decays dominantly into neutrinos and does not emit a photon. We also discuss sub-dominant modes with a photon in the decay quantitatively, and show that their branching ratios are so small that the spectra are not distorted.

Long life stau in the minimal supersymmetric standard model

We study the stau lifetime in a scenario with the LSP taken to be a neutralino and the NLSP being a stau, based on the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model. The mass difference between the LSP and NLSP, $δm$, must satisfy $δm/m_{\tildeχ} \sim$ a few % or less for coannihilation to occur, where $m_{\tildeχ}$ is the neutralino mass. We calculate the stau lifetime from the decay modes $\tildeτ\to \tildeχτ$, $\tildeχν_τπ$, and $\tildeχν_τμ(e)ν_{μ(e)}$ and discuss its dependence on various parameters. We find that the lifetime is in the range $10^{-22}$--$10^{16}$ sec for $10^{-2} \le δm \le 10$ GeV. We also discuss the connection with lepton flavor violation if there is mixing between sleptons.
