General Zakharov-Shabat equations without Lax operators

The operators in the Zakharov-Shabat equations of integrable hierarchies are usually defined from the Lax operators. In this article it is shown that the Zakharov-Shabat equations themselves recover the Lax operators under suitable change of independent variables in the case of the KP hierarchy and the modified KP hierarchy (in the matrix formulation).

Eigenfunctions of the van Diejen model generated by gauge and integral transformations

We present how explicit eigenfunctions of the principal Hamiltonian for the $BC_{m}$ relativistic Calogero-Moser-Sutherland model, due to van Diejen, can be constructed using gauge and integral transformations. In particular, we find that certain $BC$-type elliptic hypergeometric integrals, including elliptic Selberg integrals, of both Type I and Type II arise as eigenfunctions of the van Diejen model under some parameter restrictions. Among these are also joint eigenfunctions of so-called modular pairs of van Diejen operators. Furthermore, these transformations are related to reflections of the $E_{8}$ Weyl group acting on the space of model parameters.

Higher order deformed elliptic Ruijsenaars operators

We present four infinite families of mutually commuting difference operators which include the deformed elliptic Ruijsenaars operators. The trigonometric limit of this kind of operators was previously introduced by Feigin and Silantyev. They provide a quantum mechanical description of two kinds of relativistic quantum mechanical particles which can be identified with particles and anti-particles in an underlying quantum field theory. We give direct proofs of the commutativity of our operators and of some other fundamental properties such as kernel function identities. In particular, we give a rigorous proof of the quantum integrability of the deformed Ruijsenaars model.

From Kajihara's transformation formula to deformed Macdonald-Ruijsenaars and Noumi-Sano operators

Kajihara obtained in 2004 a remarkable transformation formula connecting multiple basic hypergeometric series associated with $A$-type root systems of different ranks. By multiple principle specialisations of his formula, we deduce kernel identities for deformed Macdonald-Ruijsenaars (MR) and Noumi-Sano (NS) operators. The deformed MR operators were introduced by Sergeev and Veselov in the first order case and by Feigin and Silantyev in the higher order cases. As applications of our kernel identities, we prove that all of these operators pairwise commute and are simultaneously diagonalised by the super-Macdonald polynomials. We also provide an explicit description of the algebra generated by the deformed MR and/or NS operators by a Harish-Chandra type isomorphism and show that the deformed MR (NS) operators can be viewed as restrictions of inverse limits of ordinary MR (NS) operators.

Construction of eigenfunctions for the elliptic Ruijsenaars difference operators

We present a perturbative construction of two kinds of eigenfunctions of the commuting family of difference operators defining the elliptic Ruijsenaars system. The first kind corresponds to elliptic deformations of the Macdonald polynomials, and the second kind generalizes asymptotically free eigenfunctions previously constructed in the trigonometric case. We obtain these eigenfunctions as infinite series which, as we show, converge in suitable domains of the variables and parameters. Our results imply that, for the domain where the elliptic Ruijsenaars operators define a relativistic quantum mechanical system, the elliptic deformations of the Macdonald polynomials provide a family of orthogonal functions with respect to the pertinent scalar product.

Basic Properties of Non-Stationary Ruijsenaars Functions

For any variable number, a non-stationary Ruijsenaars function was recently introduced as a natural generalization of an explicitly known asymptotically free solution of the trigonometric Ruijsenaars model, and it was conjectured that this non-stationary Ruijsenaars function provides an explicit solution of the elliptic Ruijsenaars model. We present alternative series representations of the non-stationary Ruijsenaars functions, and we prove that these series converge. We also introduce novel difference operators called ${\mathcal T}$ which, as we prove in the trigonometric limit and conjecture in the general case, act diagonally on the non-stationary Ruijsenaars functions.

The Elliptic Painlevé Lax Equation vs. van Diejen's 8-Coupling Elliptic Hamiltonian

The 8-parameter elliptic Sakai difference Painlevé equation admits a Lax formulation. We show that a suitable specialization of the Lax equation gives rise to the time-independent Schrödinger equation for the $BC_1$ 8-parameter 'relativistic' Calogero-Moser Hamiltonian due to van Diejen. This amounts to a generalization of previous results concerning the Painlevé-Calogero correspondence to the highest level in the two hierarchies.

Elliptic extension of Gustafson's $q$-integral of type $G_2$

The evaluation formula for an elliptic beta integral of type $G_2$ is proved. The integral is expressed by a product of Ruijsenaars' elliptic gamma functions, and the formula includes that of Gustafson's $q$-beta integral of type $G_2$ as a special limiting case as $p\to 0$. The elliptic beta integral of type $BC_1$ by van Diejen and Spiridonov is effectively used in the proof of the evaluation formula.

The Coxeter relations and KP map for non-commuting symbols

We give an action of the symmetric group on non-commuting indeterminates in terms of series in the corresponding Mal'cev-Newmann division ring. The action is constructed from the non-Abelian Hirota-Miwa (discrete KP) system. The corresponding companion map, which gives generators of the action, is discussed in the generic case and the corresponding explicit formulas have been found in the periodic reduction. We discuss also briefly connection of the companion to the KP map with context-free languages.

A determinant formula associated with the elliptic hypergeometric integrals of type $BC_n$

We establish a determinant formula for the bilinear form associated with the elliptic hypergeometric integrals of type $BC_n$ by studying the structure of $q$-difference equations to be satisfied by them. The determinant formula is proved by combining the $q$-difference equations of the determinant and its asymptotic analysis along the singularities. The elliptic interpolation functions of type $BC_n$ are essentially used in the study of the $q$-difference equations.

Connection Formula for the Jackson Integral of Type $A_n$ and Elliptic Lagrange Interpolation

We investigate the connection problem for the Jackson integral of type $A_n$. Our connection formula implies a Slater type expansion of a bilateral multiple basic hypergeometric series as a linear combination of several specific multiple series. Introducing certain elliptic Lagrange interpolation functions, we determine the explicit form of the connection coefficients. We also use basic properties of the interpolation functions to establish an explicit determinant formula for a fundamental solution matrix of the associated system of $q$-difference equations.

Geometric Aspects of Painlevé Equations

In this paper a comprehensive review is given on the current status of achievements in the geometric aspects of the Painlevé equations, with a particular emphasis on the discrete Painlevé equations. The theory is controlled by the geometry of certain rational surfaces called the spaces of initial values, which are characterized by eight point configuration on $\mathbb{P}^1\times\mathbb{P}^1$ and classified according to the degeration of points. We give a systematic description of the equations and their various properties, such as affine Weyl group symmetries, hypergeomtric solutions and Lax pairs under this framework, by using the language of Picard lattice and root systems. We also provide with a collection of basic data; equations, point configurations/root data, Weyl group representations, Lax pairs, and hypergeometric solutions of all possible cases.

Remarks on $τ$-functions for the difference Painlevé equations of type $E_8$

We investigate the structure of $τ$-functions for the elliptic difference Painlevé equation of type $E_8$. Introducing the notion of ORG $τ$-functions for the $E_8$ lattice, we construct some particular solutions which are expressed in terms of elliptic hypergeometric integrals. Also, we discuss how this construction is related to the framework of lattice $τ$-functions associated with the configuration of generic nine points in the projective plane.

A generalization of the Sears--Slater transformation and elliptic Lagrange interpolation of type $BC_n$

The connection formula for the Jackson integral of type $BC_n$ is obtained in the form of a Sears--Slater type expansion of a bilateral multiple basic hypergeometric series as a linear combination of several specific bilateral multiple series. The coefficients of this expansion are expressed by certain elliptic Lagrange interpolation functions. Analyzing basic properties of the elliptic Lagrange interpolation functions, an explicit determinant formula is provided for a fundamental solution matrix of the associated system of $q$-difference equations.

Tableau Formulas for One-Row Macdonald Polynomials of Types $C_n$ and $D_n$

We present explicit formulas for the Macdonald polynomials of types $C_n$ and $D_n$ in the one-row case. In view of the combinatorial structure, we call them "tableau formulas". For the construction of the tableau formulas, we apply some transformation formulas for the basic hypergeometric series involving very well-poised balanced ${}_{12}W_{11}$ series. We remark that the correlation functions of the deformed $\mathcal{W}$ algebra generators automatically give rise to the tableau formulas when we principally specialize the coordinate variables.
