Updated BBN Bounds on Hadronic Injection in the Early Universe: The Gravitino Problem

Late-decaying particles naturally arise in many extensions of the Standard Model, directly impacting key cosmological processes in the early universe, such as Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN). BBN studies often consider electromagnetic energy injection episodes only, but in practice long-lived particles are also amenable to hadronic decays. The latter can greatly alter the predicted abundances of light elements such as $\mathrm{D}/\mathrm{H}$, $Y_p$, ${}^3\mathrm{He}/\mathrm{D}$, and ${}^7\mathrm{Li}/\mathrm{H}$. Incorporating up-to-date measurements, we place constraints on the primordial abundance of long-lived particles as a function of their lifetime. Lastly, we apply our results to the gravitino problem and set bounds on the reheating temperature, which controls the gravitino primordial abundance.

The Hubble Tension: Relativistic Dark Matter Production from Long-lived Particles

The tension between direct measurements of the Hubble constant and those stemming from Cosmic Microwave Background probes has triggered a multitude of studies. The connection between cosmology and particle physics has shown to be a valuable approach to addressing the Hubble tension. In particular, increasing the number of relativistic degrees of freedom in the early universe helps alleviate the problem. In this work, we write down effective field theory describing relativistic dark matter production in association with neutrinos leading to a larger $H_0$. We derive limits on the effective energy scale that governs this relativistic production of dark matter as a function of the dark matter mass for fermion, vector, and scalar dark matter fields. In particular, scalar dark matter particles are more effective in increasing the effective number of relativistic species. Also, if they have weak scale masses, then the relativistic production of dark matter should be governed by Planck scale effective operators in order to alleviate the Hubble tension.

de Broglie-Bohm analysis of a nonlinear membrane: From quantum to classical chaos

Within the de Broglie-Bohm theory, we numerically study a generic two-dimensional anharmonic oscillator including cubic and quartic interactions. Our analysis of the quantum velocity fields and trajectories reveals the emergence of dynamical vortices. In their vicinity, fingerprints of chaotic behavior such as unpredictability and sensitivity to initial conditions are detected. The simultaneous presence of off-diagonal and nonlinear terms leads to robust quantum chaos very analogous to its classical version.

Numerical validation of Ehrenfest theorem in a Bohmian perspective for non-conservative systems

In this work we make a high precision numerical study of the Ehrenfest theorem using the Bohmian approach, where we obtain classical solutions from the quantum trajectories performing the Bohmian averages. We analyse the one-dimensional quantum harmonic and Duffing oscillator cases, finding numerical solutions of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation and the guidance equation for different sets of initial conditions and connects these results with the corresponding classical solutions. We also investigate the effect of introducing external forces of three types: a simple constant force, a fast-acting Gaussian impulse, and an oscillatory force with different frequencies. In the last case the resonance in the quantum trajectories was observed.

The Unruh effect under the de Broglie-Bohm perspective

We investigate the Minkowski ground state associated with a real massless scalar field as seen by an accelerated observer under the perspective of the de Broglie-Bohm quantum theory. We use the Schrödinger picture to obtain the wave functional associated with the Minkowski vacuum in Rindler coordinates, and we calculate the field trajectories through the Bohmian guidance equations. The Unruh temperature naturally emerges from the calculus of the average energy, but the Bohmian approach precisely distinguishes between its quantum and classical components, showing that they periodically interchange their roles as the dominant cause for the temperature effects, with abrupt jumps in the infrared regime. We also compute the power spectra, and we exhibit a very special Bohmian field configuration with remarkable physical properties.

Five dimensional Chern-Simons Gravity for the expanded (anti)-de Sitter gauge group C$_5$

We study the Hamiltonian dynamics of a five-dimensional Chern-Simons theory for the gauge algebra $C_5$ of Izaurieta, Rodriguez and Salgado, the so-called S$_H$-expansion of the 5D (anti-)de Sitter algebra (a)ds, based on the cyclic group $\mathbb{Z}_4$. The theory consists of a 1-form field containing the (a)ds gravitation variables and 1-form field transforming in the adjoint representation of (a)ds. The gravitational part of the action necessarily contains a term quadratic in the curvature, beyond the Einstein-Hilbert and cosmological terms, for any choice of the two independent coupling constants. The total action is also invariant under a new local symmetry, called "crossed diffeomorphisms", beyond the usual space-time diffeomorphisms. The number of physical degrees of freedom is computed. The theory is shown to be "generic" in the sense of Bañados, Garay and Henneaux, i.e., the constraint associated to the time diffeomorphisms is not independent from the other constraints.
