Symbolic Extraction of Non-Perturbative Transverse-Momentum-Dependent Distributions from Drell-Yan Data

We present an analytical parametrization of the non-perturbative transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) parton distribution function of unpolarized quarks, extracted from Drell-Yan data using a combination of neural-network fitting and symbolic regression. A factorized neural network is trained directly against experimental cross-section data from fixed-target, Tevatron, RHIC, and LHC experiments at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy, and symbolic regression is subsequently applied to each network component to discover compact analytical expressions. The final formula is selected from a Pareto front in the space of expression complexity and experimental $\chi^2$, yielding a closed-form non-perturbative function with 9 free numerical constants that achieves $\chi^2/\mathrm{ndf}=1.040$ over 482 data points. A non-trivial $x$-$b_T$ cross term is retained even under a sparsity prior that biases it toward zero, indicating a mild but genuine correlation between the longitudinal momentum fraction and the transverse momentum. This work demonstrates that symbolic regression is a viable tool for bridging flexible machine-learning fits and interpretable analytical TMD parametrizations, and opens a systematic path toward data-driven discovery of specific features of non-perturbative QCD.

Neural-Network extraction of TMDs with SIDIS data

A first global analysis of unpolarized Transverse-Momentum-Dependent (TMD) distributions based on a neural-network (NN) parametrization is presented. Drell-Yan (DY) and semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) data are simultaneously included at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (N$^3$LL) accuracy. The results indicate that the inclusion of SIDIS data leads to broader unpolarized TMD PDFs compared to a DY-only NN extraction. The associated uncertainties are reduced with respect to the DY-only case, while remaining larger than the ones obtained using traditional models. These results demonstrate the potential of flexible NN parametrizations in reducing model dependence and provide guidance for future high-precision measurements at Jefferson Lab and the Electron-Ion Collider.

CJ26 Global QCD Analysis with Large-$x$ Jefferson Lab 6 and 12 GeV Data

We present CJ26, the new CTEQ-JLab global QCD analysis that incorporates for the first time the complete suite of JLab 6 GeV DIS measurements and the first published JLab 12 GeV measurements. Focused on the large-$x$ region, the analysis utilizes the increased $Q^2$ leverage of the 12 GeV data to uniquely disentangle higher-twist effects from off-shell nucleon corrections. This leads to a highly accurate determination of the $n/p$ structure function ratio and the $d/u$ valence quark ratio, with uncertainties reduced by 30-50% and 5-10%, respectively. We highlight the critical role of experimental correlated systematic uncertainties in achieving this precision and provide the resulting NLO PDFs and structure functions in LHAPDF format for general use.

A first extraction of gluon TMDs from Higgs data at the LHC

We present the first extraction of the unpolarised gluon transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) parton distribution from Higgs-boson production data at the LHC within the framework of TMD factorisation. The analysis is based on the currently available set of ATLAS and CMS measurements of the Higgs $q_T$ distribution at $\sqrt{s} = 8$ and $13$ TeV in the diphoton and four-lepton decay channels, restricted to the small-$q_T$ region where TMD factorisation is applicable. Theoretical predictions are computed up to N$^3$LL accuracy, with the contribution of the linearly polarised gluon TMD $h_1^{\perp g}$ accounted for. Fiducial selections are consistently incorporated for both two- (diphoton) and four-body (four-lepton) final states. The fit reproduces both the shape and the normalisation of the experimental data, and yields a moderate sensitivity to the nonperturbative content of gluon TMDs. We further assess the convergence of the perturbative expansion and the stability of the extracted distribution under variations of the $q_T$ cut. This analysis provides a baseline for future extractions combining LHC Higgs measurements with other gluon-sensitive processes spanning a broader range of hard scales.

The impact of prescriptions in phenomenological extractions of Transverse Momentum Dependent distributions

We investigate the impact of phenomenological prescriptions in the Collins-Soper-Sterman (CSS) approach for global extractions of Transverse Momentum Distributions (TMDs). We show that fits to low-energy Drell-Yan data with different choices of $b_*$ prescription yield equally good agreement with data and similar TMDs at small partonic transverse momentum. In contrast, sizable differences emerge at intermediate transverse momentum region, significantly affecting the predictions for high-energy Drell-Yan processes. Our results demonstrate that the $b_*$ prescription represents an intrinsic source of theoretical uncertainty in the CSS approach, introducing systematic effects that influence TMD extractions and their interpretation. At the same time, our analysis emphasizes the interplay between data at different energy scales in assessing the effect of phenomenological prescriptions in TMD fits adopting the CSS framework.

Study of SIDIS Unpolarized Cross Sections from a $^3$He Target with the Solenoidal Large Intensity Device at JLab

In this paper we present a detailed impact study of semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering unpolarized cross sections' measurements using the proposed SoLID apparatus at Jefferson Lab. This type of data, collected at large Bjorken $x_{bj}$, moderate values of $Q^2$ and small values of the transverse momentum of produced hadrons, $P_{hT}$, allows to study transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton distribution and fragmentation functions in a still poorly explored region. We present the projected results for charged light mesons based on simulated data. For the azimuthal-angle integrated cross sections we adopt the TMD framework up to the next-to-next-to-next-to-leading-logarithmic (N3LL) accuracy, while a simpler TMD parton model is employed for the study of azimuthal angular dependencies.

An extraction of the Collins-Soper kernel from a joint analysis of experimental and lattice data

We present a first joint extraction of the Collins-Soper kernel (CSK) combining experimental and lattice QCD data in the context of an analysis of transverse-momentum-dependent distributions (TMDs). Based on a neural-network parametrization, we perform a Bayesian reweighting of an existing fits of TMDs using lattice data, as well as a joint TMD fit to lattice and experimental data. We consistently find that the inclusion of lattice information shifts the central value of the CSK by approximately 10% and reduces its uncertainty by 40-50%, highlighting the potential of lattice inputs to improve TMD extractions.

Robust extraction of power corrections and nuclear dynamics from DIS at large $x$

We present recent updates from the CTEQ-JLab (CJ) global PDF analysis, focusing on the interplay and implementation systematics of the HT and offshell correction (CJ22ht). We also discuss preliminary results of the CJ25 global analysis, showing the impact of the full JLab 6 GeV datasets, that we recently collected in a comprehensive DIS database, and having a first look at early JLab 12 GeV measurements. We finally offer a few thoughts on how future data may help unraveling the nuclear and partonic dynamics in light nuclei.

New insights from the flavor dependence of quark transverse momentum distributions in the pion

We update our previous extraction of transverse momentum distributions of unpolarized quarks in the pion by implementing a more comprehensive description of theoretical uncertainties and, for the first time, by exploring possible differences among quark flavors. We extract such distributions from all available data for unpolarized pion-nucleus Drell-Yan processes, where the cross section is differential in the transverse momentum of the final lepton pair. The cross section involves transverse momentum distributions in the nucleon, that we consistently take from our previous studies.

Extraction of Dihadron Fragmentation Functions at NNLO with and without Neural Networks

We present a new extraction of unpolarized Dihadron Fragmentation Functions, which describe the probability density for an unpolarized parton to fragment into a $\pi^+ \pi^-$ pair. Our analysis is based on data from the BELLE collaboration. We improve on previous determinations in several key aspects: we employ state-of-the-art perturbative QCD calculations up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO); we limit the use of Monte Carlo event generators to estimating the relative contributions of different flavors, a necessary input due to the limited flavor sensitivity of the available data; and, in addition to a traditional fit based on a physics-informed functional form, we explore a Neural Network parametrization. This latter approach paves the way for more robust and flexible determinations of Dihadron Fragmentation Functions using machine learning techniques.

Unveiling the Collins-Soper kernel in inclusive DIS at threshold

We revisit the factorization of inclusive deep inelastic scattering near the kinematic threshold to explicitly track off-lightcone effects. Particle production develops around two opposite near-lightcone directions like in transverse-momentum-dependent processes, and the Collins-Soper kernel emerges as a universal function in the rapidity evolution of the relevant parton correlators. We clarify outstanding issues regarding soft radiation and rapidity divergences, and uncover a new way to calculate the Collins-Soper kernel on the lattice with collinear operators.

A Neural-Network Extraction of Unpolarised Transverse-Momentum-Dependent Distributions

We present the first extraction of transverse-momentum-dependent distributions of unpolarised quarks from experimental Drell-Yan data using neural networks to parametrise their nonperturbative part. We show that neural networks outperform traditional parametrisations providing a more accurate description of data. This work establishes the feasibility of using neural networks to explore the multi-dimensional partonic structure of hadrons and paves the way for more accurate determinations based on machine-learning techniques.

Systematic uncertainties from higher-twist corrections in DIS at large x

We investigate the systematic uncertainties and potential biases arising from the inclusion of large-$x$ corrections to proton and deuteron deep inelastic scattering (DIS) data in global quantum chromodynamics (QCD) analyses. Using the CTEQ-JLab framework, we examine various approaches to implementing higher-twist corrections in nucleon structure functions and off-shell PDF modifications in deuteron targets. We analyze how these components interact and influence the determination of the $d$-quark PDF and the neutron structure function at large $x$. We find that it is very important to consider isospin-dependent higher-twist corrections in order to minimize implementation biases in the extracted quantities.

Exploring the three-dimensional momentum distribution of longitudinally polarized quarks in the proton

By analyzing experimental data on semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering off longitudinally polarized targets, we extract the transverse momentum dependence of the quark helicity distribution, i.e., the difference between the three-dimensional motion of quarks with polarization parallel or antiparallel to the longitudinal polarization of the parent hadron. We perform the analysis at next-to-leading (NLL) and next-to-next-to-leading (NNLL) perturbative accuracy. The quality of the fit is very good for both cases, reaching a $\chi^2$ per number of data points equal to $1.11$ and $1.09$, respectively. Although the limited number of data points leads to significant uncertainties, the data are consistent with an interpretation in which the helicity distribution is narrower in transverse momentum than the unpolarized distribution.

Systematic uncertainty of offshell corrections and higher-twist contribution in DIS at large x

We study the systematic uncertainty and biases introduced by theoretical assumptions needed to include large-$x$ DIS data in a global QCD analysis. Working in the CTEQ-JLab framework, we focus on different implementations of higher-twist corrections to the nucleon structure functions and of offshell PDF deformations in deuteron targets and discuss how their interplay impacts the extraction of the $d$-quark PDF and the calculation of the neutron structure function at large $x$.

Flavor dependence of unpolarized quark Transverse Momentum Distributions from a global fit

We present an extraction of the unpolarized transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution and fragmentation functions that takes into account possible differences between quark flavors and final-state hadrons. The extraction is based on experimental measurements from Drell-Yan processes and semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering, whose combination is essential to distinguish flavor differences. The analysis is carried out at N$^3$LL accuracy. The extracted flavor-dependent distributions give a very good description of the data ($\chi^2/N_{\rm dat} = 1.08$). The resulting uncertainties take fully into account also the uncertainties in the determination of the corresponding collinear distributions.

Extraction of the neutron F2 structure function from inclusive proton and deuteron deep-inelastic scattering data

The available world deep-inelastic scattering data on proton and deuteron structure functions F2p, F2d, and their ratios, are leveraged to extract the free neutron F2n structure function, the F2n/F2p ratio, and associated uncertainties using the latest nuclear effect calculations in the deuteron. Special attention is devoted to the normalization of the proton and deuteron experimental datasets and to the treatment of correlated systematic errors, as well as the quantification of procedural and theoretical uncertainties. The extracted F2n dataset is utilized to evaluate the Q2 dependence of the Gottfried sum rule and the nonsinglet F2p - F2n moments. To facilitate replication of our study, as well as for general applications, a comprehensive DIS database including all recent JLab 6 GeV measurements, the extracted F2n, a modified CTEQ-JLab global PDF fit named CJ15nlo_mod, and grids with calculated proton, neutron and deuteron DIS structure functions at next-to-leading order, are discussed and made publicly available.

Signals of strong parity violation in deep inelastic scattering

We include strong parity-violating contributions to inclusive deep inelastic scattering (DIS) of longitudinally polarized leptons off an unpolarized target. At variance with standard results, we obtain nonvanishing parity-violating structure functions in the case of pure photon exchange. The addition of these strong parity-violating contributions improves the description of existing experimental data on DIS parity-violating asymmetries. We find the size of these contributions small but exhibiting a deviation from zero of about 1.5 $\sigma$. The associated $p$-value is 0.063, indicating that the probability of making an error by rejecting the hypothesis of no parity-violating contributions is 6.3\%, which is small but not negligible. Further improvement on the limit of the strong parity-violation can be expected from the future SoLID program at Jefferson Lab.
