On the functoriality of sl(2) tangle homology

We construct an explicit equivalence between the (bi)category of gl(2) webs and foams and the Bar-Natan (bi)category of Temperley-Lieb diagrams and cobordisms. With this equivalence we can fix functoriality of every link homology theory that factors through the Bar-Natan category. To achieve this, we define web versions of arc algebras and their quasi-hereditary covers, which provide strictly functorial tangle homologies. Furthermore, we construct explicit isomorphisms between these algebras and the original ones based on Temperley-Lieb cup diagrams. The immediate application is a strictly functorial version of the Beliakova-Putyra-Wehrli quantization of the annular link homology.

Hilbert schemes and $y$-ification of Khovanov-Rozansky homology

We define a deformation of the triply graded Khovanov-Rozansky homology of a link $L$ depending on a choice of parameters $y_c$ for each component of $L$, which satisfies link-splitting properties similar to the Batson-Seed invariant. Keeping the $y_c$ as formal variables yields a link homology valued in triply graded modules over $\mathbb{Q}[x_c,y_c]_{c\in π_0(L)}$. We conjecture that this invariant restores the missing $Q\leftrightarrow TQ^{-1}$ symmetry of the triply graded Khovanov-Rozansky homology, and in addition satisfies a number of predictions coming from a conjectural connection with Hilbert schemes of points in the plane. We compute this invariant for all positive powers of the full twist and match it to the family of ideals appearing in Haiman's description of the isospectral Hilbert scheme.

An involutive upsilon knot invariant

Using the theory of involutive Heegaard Floer knot theory developed by Hendricks-Manolescu, we define two involutive analogs of the Upsilon knot concordance invariant of Ozsvath-Stipsicz-Szabo. These involutive invariants are piecewise linear functions defined on the interval [0,2]. Each is a concordance invariant and provides bounds on the three-genus of a knot.

Categorical diagonalization

This paper lays the groundwork for the theory of categorical diagonalization. Given a diagonalizable operator, tools in linear algebra (such as Lagrange interpolation) allow one to construct a collection of idempotents which project to each eigenspace. These idempotents are mutually orthogonal and sum to the identity. We categorify these tools. At the categorical level, one has not only eigenobjects and eigenvalues but also eigenmaps, which relate an endofunctor to its eigenvalues. Given an invertible endofunctor of a triangulated category with a sufficiently nice collection of eigenmaps, we construct idempotent functors which project to eigencategories. These idempotent functors are mutually orthogonal, and a convolution thereof is isomorphic to the identity functor. In several sequels to this paper, we will use this technology to study the categorical representation theory of Hecke algebras. In particular, for Hecke algebras of type A, we will construct categorified Young symmetrizers by simultaneously diagonalizing certain functors associated to the full twist braids.

A DG-extension of symmetric functions arising from higher representation theory

We investigate analogs of symmetric functions arising from an extension of the nilHecke algebra defined by Naisse and Vaz. These extended symmetric functions form a subalgebra of the polynomial ring tensored with an exterior algebra. We define families of bases for this algebra and show that it admits a family of differentials making it a sub-DG-algebra of the extended nilHecke algebra. The ring of extended symmetric functions equipped with this differential is quasi-isomorphic to the cohomology of a Grassmannian. We also introduce new deformed differentials on the extended nilHecke algebra that when restricted makes extended symmetric functions quasi-isomorphic to $GL(N)$-equivariant cohomology of Grassmannians.

Khovanov-Rozansky homology and higher Catalan sequences

We give a simple recursion which computes the triply graded Khovanov-Rozansky homology of several infinite families of knots and links, including the $(n,nm\pm 1)$ and $(n,nm)$ torus links for $n,m\geq 1$. We interpret our results in terms of Catalan combinatorics, proving a conjecture of Gorsky's. Our computations agree with predictions coming from Hilbert schemes and rational DAHA, which also proves the Gorsky-Oblomkov-Rasmussen-Shende conjectures in these cases. Additionally, our results suggest a topological interpretation of the symmetric functions which appear in the context of the $m$-shuffle conjecture of Haglund-Haiman-Loehr-Remmel-Ulyanov.

Categorified Young symmetrizers and stable homology of torus links

We show that the triply graded Khovanov-Rozansky homology of the torus link $T_{n,k}$ stablizes as $k\to \infty$. We explicitly compute the stable homology (as a ring), which proves a conjecture of Gorsky-Oblomkov-Rasmussen-Shende. To accomplish this, we construct complexes $P_n$ of Soergel bimodules which categorify the Young symmetrizers corresponding to one-row partitions and show that $P_n$ is a stable limit of Rouquier complexes. A certain derived endomorphism ring of $P_n$ computes the aforementioned stable homology of torus links.

Idempotents in triangulated monoidal categories

In these notes we develop some basic theory of idempotents in monoidal categories. We introduce and study the notion of a pair of complementary idempotents in a triangulated monoidal category, as well as more general idempotent decompositions of identity. If $\mathbf{E}$ is a categorical idempotent then $\operatorname{End}(\mathbf{E})$ is a graded commutative algebra. The same is true of $\operatorname{Hom}(\mathbf{E},\mathbf{E}^c[1])$ under certain circumstances, where $\mathbf{E}^c$ is the complement. These generalize the notions of cohomology and Tate cohomology of a finite dimensional Hopf algebra, respectively.

On the computation of torus link homology

We introduce a new method for computing triply graded link homology, which is particularly well-adapted to torus links. Our main application is to the (n,n)-torus links, for which we give an exact answer for all n. In several cases, our computations verify conjectures of Gorsky et al relating homology of torus links with Hilbert schemes.

Categorified Young symmetrizers and stable homology of torus links II

We construct complexes $P_{1^n}$ of Soergel bimodules which categorify the Young idempotents corresponding to one-column partitions. A beautiful recent conjecture of Gorsky-Rasmussen relates the Hochschild homology of categorified Young idempotents with the flag Hilbert scheme. We prove this conjecture for $P_{1^n}$ and its twisted variants. We also show that this homology is also a certain limit of Khovanov-Rozansky homologies of torus links. Along the way we obtain several combinatorial results which could be of independent interest.
