Geometric description of C-vectors and real Lösungen

We introduce real Loesungen as an analogue of real roots. For each mutation sequence of an arbitrary skew-symmetrizable matrix, we define a family of reflections along with associated vectors which are real Loesungen and a set of curves on a Riemann surface. The matrix consisting of these vectors is called L-matrix. We explain how the L-matrix naturally arises in connection with the C-matrix. Then we conjecture that the L-matrix depends (up to signs of row vectors) only on the seed, and that the curves can be drawn without self-intersections, providing a new combinatorial/geometric description of c-vectors.

On the relationship between green-to-red sequences, local-acyclicity, and upper cluster algebras

A cluster is a finite set of generators of a cluster algebra. The Laurent Phenomenon of Fomin and Zelevinsky says that any element of a cluster algebra can be written as a Laurent polynomial in terms of any cluster. The upper cluster algebra of a cluster algebra is the ring of rational functions that can be written as a Laurent polynomial in every cluster of the cluster algebra. By the Laurent phenomenon a cluster algebra is always contained in its upper cluster algebra, but they are not always equal. In 2014 it was conjectured that the equality of the cluster algebra and upper cluster algebra is equivalent to a combinatorial property regarding the existence of a maximal green sequence. In this work we prove a stronger result for cluster algebras from mutation-finite quivers, and provide a counterexample to show that the conjecture does not hold in general. Finally, we propose a new conjecture about the upper cluster algebra on the relationship which replaces maximal green sequences with more general green-to-red sequences and incorporates Mueller's local-acyclicity.

Properties of minimal mutation-infinite quivers

We study properties of minimal mutation-infinite quivers. In particular we show that every minimal-mutation infinite quiver of at least rank 4 is Louise and has a maximal green sequence. It then follows that the cluster algebras generated by these quivers are locally acyclic and hence equal to their upper cluster algebra. We also study which quivers in a mutation-class have a maximal green sequence. For any rank 3 quiver there are at most 6 quivers in its mutation class that admit a maximal green sequence. We also show that for every rank 4 minimal mutation-infinite quiver there is a finite connected subgraph of the unlabelled exchange graph consisting of quivers that admit a maximal green sequence.

Maximal green sequences for quivers of finite mutation type

In general, the existence of a maximal green sequence is not mutation invariant. In this paper we show that it is in fact mutation invariant for cluster quivers of finite mutation type. In particular, we show that a mutation finite cluster quiver has a maximal green sequence unless it arises from a once-punctured closed marked surface, or one of the two quivers in the mutation class of X7. We develop a procedure to explicitly find maximal green sequences for cluster quivers associated to arbitrary triangulations of closed marked surfaces with at least two punctures. As a corollary, it follows that any triangulation of a marked surface with boundary has a maximal green sequence. We also compute explicit maximal green sequences for exceptional quivers of finite mutation type.

A Combinatorial Formula for Certain Elements of Upper Cluster Algebras

We develop an elementary formula for certain non-trivial elements of upper cluster algebras. These elements have positive coefficients. We show that when the cluster algebra is acyclic these elements form a basis. Using this formula, we show that each non-acyclic skew-symmetric cluster algebra of rank 3 is properly contained in its upper cluster algebra.
