Testing a Model with extra Vector Fermions at the LEP2 Collider

Our aim is to test a model recently presented, motivated by the reported $R_b$ and $R_c$ ``crisis", which contains extra vector fermions. We suggest an alternative indirect test of the possible existence of new heavy quark flavours at the LEP2 collider, which turns out to give the clearest signal. We calculate $q\bar{q}$ cross sections within this framework, including one loop corrections, and find measurable differences compared to the Standard Model predictions.

A leptophobic massive vector boson at the Tevatron and the LHC

Recent measurements of the single inclusive jet cross section at the Tevatron by the CDF Collaboration maybe suggest a modified picture of QCD in the large $E_T$ range. One possible explanation of the measured jet excess is the introduction of a neutral heavy vector boson $Z'$. A parameter fit of this new model to the CDF data, in leading order perturbation theory, is performed, and the question of how the corresponding single inclusive jet cross sections and the dijet angular distributions at the LHC are affected by this additional $Z'$ is discussed. We conclude that the $Z'$ will play a pivotal role for typical LHC centre-of-mass energies, thus providing a direct test of this theory.

Diffractive Heavy Flavour Production at the Tevatron and the LHC

We give predictions for diffractive heavy flavour production at the Tevatron and the LHC in leading--order approximation. In the framework of these studies we use three different models for the partonic structure of the Pomeron recently proposed by Stirling and Kunszt. These Pomeron models are, despite being fitted to the same diffractive deep inelastic HERA data, very different in their parton content and taken together provide a powerful tool to probe the structure of the Pomeron. All models satisfy GLAP evolution and show a significant $Q^2$ dependence. We give numerical predictions for single as well as double diffractive cross sections assuming a Donnachie--Landshoff--type Pomeron flux factor.

Costituent Quark Picture out of QCD in two dimensions - on the Light-Cone

Using DLCQ as a nonperturbative method, we test Fock-space truncations in ${\rm QCD}_{1+1}$ by studying the mass spectra of hadrons in colour SU(2) and SU(3) at finite harmonic resolution $K$. We include $q\bar q q\bar q$ states for mesons and up to $qqq q\bar q$ states for baryons. With this truncation, we give `predictions' for the masses of the first five states where finite $K$ effects are minimal.
