Yamada-Watanabe results for stochastic differential equations with jumps

Recently, Kurtz (2007, 2014) obtained a general version of the Yamada-Watanabe and Engelbert theorems relating existence and uniqueness of weak and strong solutions of stochastic equations covering also the case of stochastic differential equations with jumps. Following the original method of Yamada and Watanabe (1971), we give alternative proofs for the following two statements: pathwise uniqueness implies uniqueness in the sense of probability law, and weak existence together with pathwise uniqueness imply strong existence for stochastic differential equations with jumps.

Dilatively stable stochastic processes and aggregate similarity

Dilatively stable processes generalize the class of infinitely divisible self-similar processes. We reformulate and extend the definition of dilative stability introduced by Iglói (2008) using characteristic functions. We also generalize the concept of aggregate similarity introduced by Kaj (2005). It turns out that these two notions are essentially the same for infinitely divisible processes. Examples of dilatively stable generalized fractional Lévy processes are given and we point out that certain limit processes in aggregation models are dilatively stable.

Operator scaled Wiener bridges

We introduce operator scaled Wiener bridges by incorporating a matrix scaling in the drift part of the SDE of a multidimensional Wiener bridge. A sufficient condition for the bridge property of the SDE solution is derived in terms of the eigenvalues of the scaling matrix. We analyze the asymptotic behavior of the bridges and briefly discuss the question whether the scaling matrix determines uniquely the law of the corresponding bridge.

Parameter estimation for a subcritical affine two factor model

For an affine two factor model, we study the asymptotic properties of the maximum likelihood and least squares estimators of some appearing parameters in the so-called subcritical (ergodic) case based on continuous time observations. We prove strong consistency and asymptotic normality of the estimators in question.

A link between Bougerol's identity and a formula due to Donati-Martin, Matsumoto and Yor

We point out an easy link between two striking identities on exponential functionals of the Wiener process and the Wiener bridge originated by Bougerol, and Donati-Martin, Matsumoto and Yor, respectively. The link is established using a continuous one-parameter family of Gaussian processes known as $α$-Wiener bridges or scaled Wiener bridges, which in case $α=0$ coincides with a Wiener process and for $α=1$ is a version of the Wiener bridge.

Stationarity and ergodicity for an affine two factor model

We study the existence of a unique stationary distribution and ergodicity for a 2-dimensional affine process. The first coordinate is supposed to be a so-called alpha-root process with α\in(1,2]. The existence of a unique stationary distribution for the affine process is proved in case of α\in(1,2]; further, in case of α=2, the ergodicity is also shown.

Asymptotic behavior of CLS estimators for unstable INAR(2) models

In this paper the asymptotic behavior of the conditional least squares estimators of the autoregressive parameters $(α,β)$, of the stability parameter $\varrho := α+ β$, and of the mean $μ$ of the innovation $\vare_k$, $k \in \NN$, for an unstable integer-valued autoregressive process $X_k = α\circ X_{k-1} + β\circ X_{k-2} + \vare_k$, $k \in \NN$, is described. The limit distributions and the scaling factors are different according to the following three cases: (i) decomposable, (ii) indecomposable but not positively regular, and (iii) positively regular models.

On parameter estimation for critical affine processes

First we provide a simple set of sufficient conditions for the weak convergence of scaled affine processes with state space $R_+ \times R^d$. We specialize our result to one-dimensional continuous state branching processes with immigration. As an application, we study the asymptotic behavior of least squares estimators of some parameters of a two-dimensional critical affine diffusion process.

A Jump Type SDE Approach to Positive Self-Similar Markov Processes

We present a new approach to positive self-similar Markov processes (pssMps) by reformulating Lamperti's transformation via jump type SDEs. As applications, we give direct constructions of pssMps (re)started continuously at zero if the Lamperti transformed Levy process is spectrally negative. Our paper can be seen as a continuation of similar studies for continuous state branching processes but the approach seems to be more fruitful in the context of pssMps.

On entire moments of self-similar Markov processes

It has been shown by Bertoin and Yor (2002) that the law of positive self-similar Markov processes (pssMps) that only jump downwards and do not hit zero in finite time are uniquely determined by their entire moments for which explicit formulas have been derived. We use a recent jump-type stochastic differential equation approach to reprove and to extend their formulas.

Path properties of dilatively stable processes and singularity of their distributions

First, we present some results about the Hölder continuity of the sample paths of so called dilatively stable processes which are certain infinitely divisible processes having a more general scaling property than self-similarity. As a corollary, we obtain that the most important (H,delta)-dilatively stable limit processes (e.g., the LISOU and the LISCBI processes, see Igloi [4]) almost surely have a local Hölder exponent H. Next we prove that, under some slight regularity assumptions, any two dilatively stable processes with stationary increments are singular (in the sense that their distributions have disjoint supports) if their parameters H are different. We also study the more general case of not having stationary increments. Throughout the paper we specialize our results to some basic dilatively stable processes such as the above-mentioned limit processes and the fractional Lévy process.

Sample path deviations of the Wiener and the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process from its bridges

We study sample path deviations of the Wiener process from three different representations of its bridge: anticipative version, integral representation and space-time transform. Although these representations of the Wiener bridge are equal in law, their sample path behavior is quite different. Our results nicely demonstrate this fact. We calculate and compare the expected absolute, quadratic and conditional quadratic path deviations of the different representations of the Wiener bridge from the original Wiener process. It is further shown that the presented qualitative behavior of sample path deviations is not restricted only to the Wiener process and its bridges. Sample path deviations of the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process from its bridge versions are also considered and we give some quantitative answers also in this case.

Functional limit theorems for Lévy processes satisfying Cramér's condition

We consider a Lévy process that starts from $x<0$ and conditioned on having a positive maximum. When Cramér's condition holds, we provide two weak limit theorems as $x\to -\infty$ for the law of the (two-sided) path shifted at the first instant when it enters $(0,\infty)$, respectively shifted at the instant when its overall maximum is reached. The comparison of these two asymptotic results yields some interesting identities related to time-reversal, insurance risk, and self-similar Markov processes.

Explicit formulas for Laplace transforms of certain functionals of some time inhomogeneous diffusions

We consider a process $(X_t)_{t\in[0,T)}$ given by the SDE $dX_t = αb(t)X_t dt + σ(t) dB_t$, $t\in[0,T)$, with initial condition $X_0=0$, where $T\in(0,\infty]$, $α\in R$, $(B_t)_{t\in[0,T)}$ is a standard Wiener process, $b:[0,T)\to R\setminus\{0\}$ and $σ:[0,T)\to(0,\infty)$ are continuously differentiable functions. Assuming that $b$ and $σ$ satisfy a certain differential equation we derive an explicit formula for the joint Laplace transform of $\int_0^t\frac{b(s)^2}{σ(s)^2}(X_s)^2 ds$ and $(X_t)^2$ for all $t\in[0,T)$. As an application, we study asymptotic behavior of the maximum likelihood estimator of $α$ for $\sign(α-K)=\sign(K)$, $K\ne0$, and for $α=K$, $K\ne0$. As an example, we examine the so-called $α$-Wiener bridges given by SDE $dX_t = -\fracα{T-t}X_t dt + dB_t$, $t\in[0,T)$, with initial condition $X_0=0$.

General alpha-Wiener bridges

An alpha-Wiener bridge is a one-parameter generalization of the usual Wiener bridge, where the parameter alpha>0 represents a mean reversion force to zero. We generalize the notion of alpha-Wiener bridges to continuous functions $α:[0,T)\to R$. We show that if the limit $\lim_{t\uparrow T}α(t)$ exists and is positive, then a general alpha-Wiener bridge is in fact a bridge in the sense that it converges to 0 at time T with probability one. Further, under the condition $\lim_{t\uparrow T}α(t)\ne 1$ we show that the law of the general alpha-Wiener bridge can not coincide with the law of any non time-homogeneous Ornstein-Uhlenbeck type bridge. In case $\lim_{t\uparrow T}α(t)=1$ we determine all the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck type processes from which one can derive the general alpha-Wiener bridge by conditioning the original Ornstein-Uhlenbeck type process to be in zero at time T.

Karhunen-Loeve expansions of alpha-Wiener bridges

We study Karhunen-Loeve expansions of the process $(X_t^{(α)})_{t\in[0,T)}$ given by the stochastic differential equation $dX_t^{(α)} = -\fracα{T-t} X_t^{(α)} dt+ dB_t,$ $t\in[0,T),$ with an initial condition $X_0^{(α)}=0,$ where $α>0,$ $T\in(0,\infty)$ and $(B_t)_{t\geq 0}$ is a standard Wiener process. This process is called an $α$-Wiener bridge or a scaled Brownian bridge, and in the special case of $α=1$ the usual Wiener bridge. We present weighted and unweighted Karhunen-Loeve expansions of $X^{(α)}$. As applications, we calculate the Laplace transform and the distribution function of the $L^2[0,T]$-norm square of $X^{(α)}$ studying also its asymptotic behavior (large and small deviation).
