A Hydrogenated amorphous silicon detector for Space Weather Applications

The characteristics of a hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) detector are presented here for monitoring in space solar flares and the evolution of large energetic proton events up to hundreds of MeV. The a-Si:H presents an excellent radiation hardness and finds application in harsh radiation environments for medical purposes, for particle beam characterization and in space weather science and applications. The critical flux detection threshold for solar X rays, soft gamma rays, electrons and protons is discussed in detail.

Dark sector studies with the PADME experiment

The Positron Annihilation to Dark Matter Experiment (PADME) uses the positron beam of the DA$Φ$NE Beam-Test Facility, at the Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati (LNF) to search for a Dark Photon $A'$. The search technique studies the missing mass spectrum of single-photon final states in $e^+e^-\rightarrow A'γ$ annihilation in a positron-on-thin-target experiment. This approach facilitates searches for new particles such as long lived Axion-Like-Particles, protophobic X bosons and Dark Higgs. This talk illustrated the scientific program of the experiment and its first physics results. In particular, the measurement of the cross-section of the SM process $e^+e^-\rightarrow γγ$ at $\sqrt{s}$=21 MeV was shown.

Power oscillations induced by the relative Goos-Haenchen phase

By using an optical interferometer composed of a dielectric laser ellipsometer, to change the optical response of transverse electric and magnetic incident radiation, and two polarisers, to trigger the interference pattern induced by the relative Goos-Haenchen phase, we show under which conditions it is possible to optimize the laser power oscillations induced by the relative phase difference between orthogonal polarised states. The Goos-Haenchen interference can then be used to sense rotation, to test optical components, and to simulate quarter and half wave plates.

Diamond-Like Carbon for the Fast Timing MPGD

The present generation of Micro-Pattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGDs) are radiation hard detectors, capable of detecting efficiently particle rates of several MHz/cm$^2$ , while exhibiting good spatial resolution ($\leq$ 50 $μ$m) and modest time resolution of 5-10 ns, which satisfies the current generation of experiments (High Luminosity LHC upgrades of CMS and ATLAS) but it is not sufficient for bunch crossing identification of fast timing systems at FCC- hh. Thanks to the application of thin resistive films such as Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) a new detector concept was conceived: Fast Timing MPGD (FTM). In the FTM the drift volume of the detector has been divided in several layers each with their own amplification structure. The use of resistive electrodes makes the entire structure transparent for electrical signals. After some first initial encouraging results, progress has been slowed down due to problems with the wet-etching of DLC-coated polyimide foils. To solve these problems a more in-depth knowledge of the internal stress of the DLC together with the DLC-polyimide adhesion is required. We will report on the production of DLC films produced in Italy with Ion Beam Sputtering and Pulsed Laser Deposition, where we are searching to improve the adhesion of the thin DLC films, combined with a very high uniformity of the resistivity values.

Affinity of Cherednik algebras on projective space

We give sufficient conditions for the affinity of Etingof's sheaves of Cherednik algebras on projective space. To do this we introduce the notion of pull-back of modules under certain flat morphisms.

On the smoothness of centres of rational Cherednik algebras in positive characteristic

In this article we study rational Cherednik algebras at $t = 1$ in positive characteristic. We study a finite dimensional quotient of the rational Cherednik algebra called the restricted rational Cherednik algebra. When the corresponding pseudo-reflection group belongs to the infinite series $G(m,d,n)$, we describe explicitly the block decomposition of the restricted algebra. We also classify all pseudo-reflection groups for which the centre of the corresponding rational Cherednik algebra is regular for generic values of the deformation parameter.

Stratifications of Marsden-Weinstein reductions for representations of quivers and deformations of symplectic quotient singularities

We investigate the Poisson geometry of the Marsden-Weinstein reductions of the moment map associated to the cotangent bundle of the space of representations of a quiver. We show that the stratification by representation type equals the stratification by symplectic leaves. The deformed symplectic quotient singularities - spectra of centres of symplectic reflection algebras associated to a wreath product - are shown to be isomorphic to reductions of a certain quiver. This establishes a method to calculate when these deformations are smooth. Furthermore, the isomorphism identifies symplectic leaves and so one can give a description of their symplectic leaves in terms of roots of the quiver.
