On the breakdown of eikonal approximation and survival of Reggeization in presence of dimension-5 Higgs-gluon coupling

We consider the one-loop effective vertex for the interaction of a gluon with a Reggeized gluon and a Higgs boson in the infinite-top-mass limit, which is described by a dimension-5 non-renormalizable operator. This vertex enters the calculation of differential cross sections for the forward inclusive production of a Higgs boson in high-energy proton-proton collisions, possibly in association with a backward jet or identified hadron, in a framework where next-to-leading logarithms of the energy are resummed to all orders. The effective vertex is extracted from the high-energy behavior of two-to-two amplitudes for the Higgs production in parton-parton collisions and relies on the validity of the Regge form for these amplitudes. We find that the usual eikonal approximation (Gribov prescription) for the Regge limit and the known region-expansion technique in this limit lead to an incomplete result for the amplitude. The discrepancy is traced back to the non-renormalizable nature of the involved operator. However, the Regge limit of the exact QCD amplitude agrees with the Regge-pole exchange form at one loop, nontrivially supporting the Reggeization hypothesis.

Prospects for quarkonium studies at the high-luminosity LHC

Prospects for quarkonium-production studies accessible during the upcoming high-luminosity phases of the CERN Large Hadron Collider operation after 2021 are reviewed. Current experimental and theoretical open issues in the field are assessed together with the potential for future studies in quarkonium-related physics. This will be possible through the exploitation of the huge data samples to be collected in proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions, both in the collider and fixed-target modes. Such investigations include, among others, those of: (i) J/psi and Upsilon produced in association with other hard particles; (ii) chi(c,b) and eta(c,b) down to small transverse momenta; (iii) the constraints brought in by quarkonia on gluon PDFs, nuclear PDFs, TMDs, GPDs and GTMDs, as well as on the low-x parton dynamics; (iv) the gluon Sivers effect in polarised-nucleon collisions; (v) the properties of the quark-gluon plasma produced in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions and of collective partonic effects in general; and (vi) double and triple parton scatterings.

High-Energy Factorization for Drell-Yan process in $pp$ and $p{\bar p}$ collisions with new Unintegrated PDFs

The formalism for uniform description of Drell-Yan transverse-momentum spectrum is presented in a framework of High-Energy Factorization, which smoothly interpolates between Collins-Soper-Sterman formalism at $|{\bf q}_T|\ll Q$ and usual Collinear Parton Model at $|{\bf q}_T|\sim Q\ll \sqrt{S}$. The new formula for deriving Unintegrated Parton Distribution Functions(UPDFs) from collinear ones is introduced, which leads to excellent description of the shape of $Z$-boson $|{\bf q}_T|$-spectrum at high energies up to $|{\bf q}_T|/\sqrt{S}\simeq 0.02$. Description of normalized $|{\bf q}_T|$-distributions at low energies is achieved via the fit of non-perturbative parameters of quark UPDFs. Reasonable description of angular distributions of leptons in the dilepton center-of-mass frame is also obtained with new UPDFs.

Double prompt $J/ψ$ hadroproduction in the parton Reggeization approach with high-energy resummation

We study double prompt $J/ψ$ hadroproduction within the nonrelativistic-QCD factorization formalism adopting the parton Reggeization approach to treat initial-state radiation in a gauge invariant and infrared-safe way. We present first predictions for the cross section distributions in the transverse momenta of the subleading $J/ψ$ meson and the $J/ψ$ pair. Already at leading order in $α_s$, these predictions as well as those for the total cross section and its distributions in the invariant mass $m_{ψψ}$ and the rapidity separation $|Y|$ of the $J/ψ$ pair nicely agree with recent ATLAS and CMS measurements, except for the large-$m_{ψψ}$ and large-$|Y|$ regions, where the predictions substantially undershoot the data. In the latter regions, BFKL resummation is shown to enhance the cross sections by up to a factor of two and so to improve the description of the data.
