Comparison of quiver varieties, loop Grassmannians and nilpotent cones in type A

In type A we find equivalences of geometries arising in three settings: Nakajima's (``framed'') quiver varieties, conjugacy classes of matrices and loop Grassmannians. These are now all given by explicit formulas. In particular, we embedd the framed quiver varieties into Beilinson-Drinfeld Grassmannians. This provides a compactification of Nakajima varieties and a decomposition of affine Grassmannians into Nakajima varieties. As an application we provide a geometric version of symmetric and skew $(GL(m), GL(n))$ dualities.

Quiver varieties and Beilinson-Drinfeld Grassmannians of type A

We construct Nakajima's quiver varieties of type A in terms of conjugacy classes of matrices and (non-Slodowy's) transverse slices naturally arising from affine Grassmannians. In full generality quiver varieties are embedded into Beilinson-Drinfeld Grassmannians of type A. Our construction provides a compactification of Nakajima's quiver varieties and a decomposition of an affine Grassmannian into a disjoint union of quiver varieties. As an application we provide a geometric version of skew and symmetric $(GL(m), GL(n))$ duality.

Relation between two geometrically defined bases in representations of $GL_n$

Let $V$ be an irreducible representation of group $GL_n({\mathbb C})$, which appears as a submodule in $({\mathbb C}^n)^{\otimes d}$, where ${\mathbb C}^n$ is the tautological $n$-dimensional representation of $GL_n$, and $d$ is a non-negative integer. On the one hand, following refs [Gi] and [BG] one can produce a basis in $V$ using irreducible components of Sringer fibers over a nilpotent matrix in ${\mathfrak {gl}}_d$, whose Jordan blocks correspond to the highest weight of $V$. On the other hand, one can produce a basis in $V$ by Mirković-Vilonen cycles, a construction that works for an arbitrary reductive group $G$. In this note we prove that the resulting to bases coincide.

Perverse sheaves, Koszul IC-modules, and the quiver for the category O

For a stratified topological space we introduce the category of IC-modules, which are linear algebra devices with the relations described by the equation d^2=0. We prove that the category of (mixed) IC-modules is equivalent to the category of (mixed) perverse sheaves for flag varieties. As an application, we describe an algorithm calculating the quiver underlying the BGG category O for arbitrary simple Lie algebra, thus answering a question which goes back to I. M. Gelfand.

Quiver varieties and Lusztig's algebra

We study preprojective algebras of graphs and their relationship to module categories over representations of quantum SL(2). As an application, ADE quiver varieties of Nakajima are shown to be subvarieties of the variety of representations of a certain associative algebra introduced by Lusztig.

The minimal degeneration singularities in the affine Grassmannians

The minimal degeneration singularities in the affine Grassmannians of simple simply-laced algebraic groups are determined to be either Kleinian singularities of type A, or closures of minimal orbits in nilpotent cones. The singularities for non-simply-laced types are studied by intersection cohomology and equivariant Chow group methods.

On quiver varieties and affine Grassmannians of type A

We construct Nakajima's quiver varieties of type A in terms of affine Grassmannians of type A. This gives a compactification of quiver varieties and a decomposition of affine Grassmannians into a disjoint union of quiver varieties. Consequently, singularities of quiver varieties, nilpotent orbits and affine Grassmannians are the same in type A. The construction also provides a geometric framework for skew $(GL(m), GL(n))$ duality and identifies the natural basis of weight spaces in Nakajima's construction with the natural basis of multiplicity spaces in tensor products which arises from affine Grassmannians.

Quiver varieties, affine Lie algebras, algebras of BPS states, and semicanonical basis

We suggest a (conjectural) construction of a basis in the plus part of the affine Lie algebra of type ADE indexed by irreducible components of certain quiver varieties. This construction is closely related to a string-theoretic construction of a Lie algebra of BPS states. We then study the new combinatorial questions about the (classical) root systems naturally arising from our constructions and Lusztig's semicanonical basis.

Sheaves on Triangulated Spaces and Koszul Duality

Let $X$ be a finite connected simplicial complex, and let $δ$ be a perversity (i.e., some function from integers to integers). One can consider two categories: (1) the category of perverse sheaves cohomologically constructible with respect to the triangulation, and (2) the category of sheaves constant along the perverse simplices ($δ$-sheaves). We interpret the categories (1) and (2) as categories of modules over certain quadratic (and even Koszul) algebras $A(X,δ)$ and $B(X,δ)$ respectively, and we prove that $A(X,δ)$ and $B(X,δ)$ are Koszul dual to each other. We define the $δ$-perverse topology on $X$ and prove that the category of sheaves on perverse topology is equivalent to the category of $δ$ sheaves. Finally, we study the relationship between the Koszul duality functor and the Verdier duality functor for simplicial sheaves and cosheaves.

Affine Lie Algebras and Tame Quivers

C.M. Ringel defined Hall algebra associated with the category of representations of a quiver of Dynkin type and gave an explicit description of the structure constants of the corresponding Lie algebra. We utilize functorial properties of the Hall algebra to give a simple proof of Ringel's result, and to generalize it to the case of a quiver of affine type.

Constructible sheaves on simplicial complexes and Koszul duality

We obtain a linear algebra data presentation of the category of constructible with respect to perverse triangulation sheaves on a finite simplicial complex. We also establish Koszul duality between the above mentioned category and the category of perverse sheaves constructible with respect to the triangulation
