Echoes of Unrest: A Multimodal NLP Framework for Early Warning of Fake News and Violence-Driven Mob Activity

Rapid growth in social media has transformed global communication by enabling fast information exchange, but it has also accelerated the spread of misinformation. Fake news, manipulated content, and provocative narratives are increasingly linked to social unrest, political instability, and mob violence. Incidents in South Asia and elsewhere demonstrate how false information disseminated via platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp can trigger real-world harm, often spreading faster than fact-checking efforts can respond. To address this challenge, this chapter presents a multilingual, multimodal Natural Language Processing (NLP) framework for early detection of misinformation and violence-prone dynamics. A fused dataset of 138,256 Bangla and English samples was created by combining multiple benchmark datasets. The framework integrates XLM-RoBERTa for multilingual text representation, CLIP for visual embedding, and a multi-head attention mechanism for multimodal fusion, enhanced with auxiliary features such as sarcasm and geospatial metadata. Experiments on a stratified 30% subset achieved 98% test accuracy with strong precision and recall. The outcomes show the efficacy of multimodal approaches in early misinformation detection and highlight the added value of geospatial signals for anticipating real-world escalation.

CredSec: A Blockchain-based Secure Credential Management System for University Adoption

University education play a critical role in shaping intellectual and professional development of the individuals and contribute significantly to the advancement of knowledge and society. Generally, university authority has a direct control of students result making and stores the credential in their local dedicated server. So, there is chance to alter the credential and also have a very high possibility to encounter various threats and different security attacks. To resolve these, we propose a blockchain based secure credential management system (BCMS) for efficiently storing, managing and recovering credential without involving the university authority. The proposed BCMS incorporates a modified two factor encryption (m2FE) technique, a combination of RSA cryptosystem and a DNA encoding to ensure credential privacy and an enhanced authentication scheme for teachers and students. Besides, to reduce size of the cipher credential and its conversion time, we use character to integer (C2I) table instead of ASCII table. Finally, the experimental result and analysis of the BCMS illustrate the effectiveness over state of the art works.

Grid-Connected Emergency Back-Up Power Supply

This paper documents a design and modelling of a grid-connected emergency back-up power supply for medium power applications. There are a rectifier-link boost derived battery charging circuit and a 4-switch push-pull power inverter circuit which are controlled by pulse width modulation (PWM) signals. This paper presents a state averaging model and Laplace domain transfer function of the charging circuit and a switching converter model of the power inverter circuit. A changeover relay based transfer switch controls the power flow towards the utility loads. During off-grid situations, loads are fed power by the proposed inverter circuit and during on-grid situations, battery is charged by an ac-link rectifier-fed boost converter. There is a relay switching circuit to control the charging phenomenon of the battery. The proposed design has been simulated in PLECS and the simulation results corroborate the reliability of the presented framework.
