Exploring the Convergence of HCI and Evolving Technologies in Information Systems

Modern technology driven information systems are part of our daily lives. However, this deep integration poses new challenges to the human computer interaction (HCI) professionals. With the rapid growth of mobile and cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT), the demand for HCI specialists to design user-friendly and adaptable interfaces has never been more pressing. Especially for diverse user groups such as children, the elderly and people with disabilities who need interfaces tailored to their needs regardless of time and location. This study reviewed 50 recent papers on HCI interface design for modern information systems. The goal is to see how well these methods address the demands of current technology. The findings show that most HCI design methods are still based on old desktop models and do not support mobile users and location-based services well. Most existing interface design guidelines do not align with the flexibility and dynamism of emerging technologies. The goal of this study is to improve interface design by combining agile methodologies with human-centered design principles. Future studies should also incorporate both qualitative and quantitative approaches, particularly in the context of cloud-based technologies and organizational information systems. This approach aims to bridge the gap between current interface design practices and the changing technological landscape.

Advancing Exchange Rate Forecasting: Leveraging Machine Learning and AI for Enhanced Accuracy in Global Financial Markets

The prediction of foreign exchange rates, such as the US Dollar (USD) to Bangladeshi Taka (BDT), plays a pivotal role in global financial markets, influencing trade, investments, and economic stability. This study leverages historical USD/BDT exchange rate data from 2018 to 2023, sourced from Yahoo Finance, to develop advanced machine learning models for accurate forecasting. A Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural network is employed, achieving an exceptional accuracy of 99.449%, a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 0.9858, and a test loss of 0.8523, significantly outperforming traditional methods like ARIMA (RMSE 1.342). Additionally, a Gradient Boosting Classifier (GBC) is applied for directional prediction, with backtesting on a $10,000 initial capital revealing a 40.82% profitable trade rate, though resulting in a net loss of $20,653.25 over 49 trades. The study analyzes historical trends, showing a decline in BDT/USD rates from 0.012 to 0.009, and incorporates normalized daily returns to capture volatility. These findings highlight the potential of deep learning in forex forecasting, offering traders and policymakers robust tools to mitigate risks. Future work could integrate sentiment analysis and real-time economic indicators to further enhance model adaptability in volatile markets.

From Explanations to Architecture: Explainability-Driven CNN Refinement for Brain Tumor Classification in MRI

Recent brain tumor classification methods often report high accuracy but rely on deep, over-parameterized architectures with limited interpretability, making it difficult to determine whether predictions are driven by tumor-relevant evidence or by spurious cues such as background artifacts or normal tissue. We propose an explainable convolutional neural network (CNN) framework that enhances model transparency without sacrificing classification accuracy. This approach supports more trustworthy AI in healthcare and contributes to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by enabling more dependable MRI-based brain tumor diagnosis and earlier detection. Rather than using explainable AI solely for post hoc visualization, we employ Grad-CAM to quantify layer-wise relevance and guide the removal of low-contribution layers, reducing unnecessary depth and parameters while encouraging attention to discriminative tumor regions. We further validate the model's decision rationale using complementary explainability methods, combining Grad-CAM for spatial localization with SHAP and LIME for attribution-based verification. Experiments on multi-class brain MRI datasets show that the proposed model achieves 98.21% accuracy on the primary dataset and 95.74% accuracy on an unseen dataset, indicating strong cross-dataset generalization. Overall, the proposed approach balances simplicity, transparency, and accuracy, supporting more trustworthy and clinically applicable brain tumor classification for improved health outcomes and non-invasive disease detection.

Real-Time Confidence Detection through Facial Expressions and Hand Gestures

Real-time face orientation recognition is a cutting-edge technology meant to track and analyze facial movements in virtual environments such as online interviews, remote meetings, and virtual classrooms. As the demand for virtual interactions grows, it becomes increasingly important to measure participant engagement, attention, and overall interaction. This research presents a novel solution that leverages the Media Pipe Face Mesh framework to identify facial landmarks and extract geometric data for calculating Euler angles, which determine head orientation in real time. The system tracks 3D facial landmarks and uses this data to compute head movements with a focus on accuracy and responsiveness. By studying Euler angles, the system can identify a user's head orientation with an accuracy of 90\%, even at a distance of up to four feet. This capability offers significant enhancements for monitoring user interaction, allowing for more immersive and interactive virtual ex-periences. The proposed method shows its reliability in evaluating participant attentiveness during online assessments and meetings. Its application goes beyond engagement analysis, potentially providing a means for improving the quality of virtual communication, fostering better understanding between participants, and ensuring a higher level of interaction in digital spaces. This study offers a basis for future developments in enhancing virtual user experiences by integrating real-time facial tracking technologies, paving the way for more adaptive and interactive web-based platform.
