Harmonic operators on convolution quantum group algebras

Let ${\Bbb G}$ be a locally compact quantum group and ${\mathcal T}(L^2({\Bbb G}))$ be the Banach algebra of trace class operators on $L^2({\Bbb G})$ with the convolution induced by the right fundamental unitary of ${\Bbb G}$. We study the space of harmonic operators $\widetilde{\mathcal H}_ω$ in ${\mathcal B}(L^2({\Bbb G}))$ associated to a contractive element $ω\in {\mathcal T}(L^2({\Bbb G}))$. We characterize the existence of non-zero harmonic operators in ${\mathcal K}(L^2({\Bbb G}))$ and relate them with some properties of the quantum group ${\Bbb G}$, such as finiteness, amenability and co-amenability.

Power boundedness in Fourier and Fourier-Stieltjes algebra of an ultraspherical hypergroup

Let $H$ be an ultraspherical hypergroup associated with a locally compact group $G$ and a spherical projector $π$ and let $A(H)$ and $B(H)$ denote the Fourier and Fourier-Stieltjes algebras, respectively, associated with $H.$ In this note, we study power boundedness and Cesàro boundedness in $B(H)$. We also characterize the power bounded property for both $A(H)$ and $B(H).$

Generalized derivations on certain Banach algebras

Let ${\mathcal A}$ be a Banach algebra with the properties that $\mathrm{rad}({\mathcal A})={\rm rann}({\mathcal A})$ and the algebra ${\mathcal A}/\mathrm{rad}({\mathcal A})$ is commutative. We show that a derivation of ${\mathcal A}$ maps ${\mathcal A}$ into ${\rm rad}({\mathcal A})$. Using this, we determine among other things when a generalized derivation of ${\mathcal A}$ maps ${\mathcal A}$ into ${\rm rad}({\mathcal A})$. We also study $k$-centralizing generalized derivations of ${\mathcal A}$. Then, for a generalized derivation $(δ, d)$ of ${\mathcal A}$ we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for $(δ^2, d^2)$ to be still a generalized derivation of ${\mathcal A}$. The main applications are concerned with the algebras over locally compact groups. In particular, we deduce these results for bidual of Fourier algebras of discrete amenable groups as an application of our approach.

Compact and weakly compact multipliers on Fourier algebras of ultraspherical hypergroups

A locally compact group $ G $ is discrete if and only if the Fourier algebra $ A(G) $ has a non-zero (weakly) compact multiplier. We partially extend this result to the setting of ultraspherical hypergroups. Let $H$ be an ultraspherical hypergroup and let $A(H)$ denote the corresponding Fourier algebra. We will give several characterizations of discreteness of $ H $ in the terms of the algebraic properties of $A(H)$. We also study Arens regularity of closed ideals of $ A(H)$.

Amenability and harmonic $L^p$-functions on hypergroups

Let $K$ be a locally compact hypergroup with a left invariant Haar measure. We show that the Liouville property and amenability are equivalent for $K$ when it is second countable. Suppose that $σ$ is a non-degenerate probability measure on $K$, we show that there is no non-trivial $σ$-harmonic function which is continuous and vanishing at infinity. Using this, we prove that the space $H_σ^p(K)$ of all $σ$-harmonic $L^p$-functions, is trivial for all $1\leq p<\infty$. Further, it is shown that $H_σ^\infty(K)$ contains only constant functions if and only if it is a subalgebra of $L^\infty(K)$. In the case where $σ$ is adapted and $K$ is compact, we show that $H_σ^p(K)={\mathbb C}1$ for all $1\leq p\leq\infty$.

Multipliers over Fourier algebras of ultraspherical hypergroups

Let $H$ be an ultraspherical hypergroup associated to a locally compact group $ G $ and let $A(H)$ be the Fourier algebra of $H$. For a left Banach $A(H)$-submodule $X$ of $VN(H)$, define $Q_X$ to be the norm closure of the linear span of the set $\{uf: u\in A(H), f\in X\}$ in $B_{A(H)}(A(H), X^*)^*$. We will show that $B_{A(H)}(A(H), X^*)$ is a dual Banach space with predual $Q_X$, we characterize $Q_X$ in terms of elements in $A(H)$ and $ X$. Applications obtained on the multiplier algebra $ M(A(H))$ of the Fourier algebra $ A(H)$. In particular, we prove that $ G $ is amenable if and only if $ M(A(H))= B_λ(H)$, where $B_λ(H) $ is the reduced Fourier-Stieltjes algebra of $ H $. Finally, we investigate some characterizations for an ultraspherical hypergroup to be discrete.

Invariant $φ$-means on multiplier completion of Banach algebras with application to hypergroups

Let ${\mathcal A}$ be a Banach algebra and let $φ$ be a non-zero character on ${\mathcal A}$. Suppose that ${\mathcal A}_M$ is the closure of the faithful Banach algebra ${\mathcal A}$ in the multiplier norm. In this paper, topologically left invariant $φ$-means on ${\mathcal A}_M^*$ are defined and studied. Under some conditions on ${\mathcal A}$, we will show that the set of topologically left invariant $φ$-means on ${\mathcal A}^*$ and on ${\mathcal A}_M^*$ have the same cardinality. We also study the left uniformly continuous functionals associated with these algebras. The main applications are concerned with the Fourier algebra of an ultraspherical hypergroup $H$. In particular, we obtain some characterizations of discreteness of $H$.

BSE-property for some certain Segal and Banach algebras

For a commutative semi-simple Banach algebra ${A}$ which is an ideal in its second dual we give a necessary and sufficient condition for an essential abstract Segal algebra in ${A}$ to be a BSE-algebra. We show that a large class of abstract Segal algebras in the Fourier algebra $A(G)$ of a locally compact group $G$ are BSE-algebra if and only if they have bounded weak approximate identities. Also, in the case that $G$ is discrete we show that $A_{\rm cb}(G)$ is a BSE-algebra if and only if $G$ is weakly amenable. We study the BSE-property of some certain Segal algebras implemented by local functions that were recently introduced by J. Inoue and S.-E. Takahasi. Finally we give a similar construction for the group algebra implemented by a measurable and sub-multiplicative function.

Amalgamated duplication of the Banach algebra $\bf{\frak A}$ along a ${\frak A}$-bimodule ${\mathcal A}$

Let ${\mathcal A}$ and ${\frak A}$ be Banach algebras such that ${\mathcal A}$ is a Banach ${\frak A}$-bimodule with compatible actions. We define the product ${\cal A}\rtimes{\frak A}$, which is a strongly splitting Banach algebra extension of ${\frak A}$ by $\cal A$. After characterization of the multiplier algebra, topological centre, (maximal) ideals and spectrum of ${\cal A}\rtimes{\frak A}$, we restrict our investigation to the study of semisimplicity, regularity, Arens regularity of ${\cal A}\rtimes{\frak A}$ in relation to that of the algebras $\cal A$, $\frak A$ and the action of $\frak A$ on $\cal A$. We also compute the first cohomology group $H^1{(}{\cal A}\rtimes{\frak A},({\cal A}\rtimes{\frak A})^{(n)}{)}$ for all $n\in {\Bbb N}\cup\{0\}$ as well as the first-order cyclic cohomology group $H_λ^1{(}{\cal A}\rtimes{\frak A},({\cal A}\rtimes{\frak A})^{(1)}{)}$, where $({\cal A}\rtimes{\frak A})^{(n)}$ is the n-th dual space of ${\cal A}\rtimes{\frak A}$ when $n\in{\Bbb N}$ and ${\cal A}\rtimes{\frak A}$ itself when $n=0$. These results are not only of interest in their own right, but also they pave the way for obtaining some new results for Lau products and module extensions of Banach algebras as well as triangular Banach algebra. Finally, special attention is devoted to the cyclic and $n$-weak amenability of ${\cal A}\rtimes{\frak A}$.

Some cohomological notions on ${\mathcal A}\times_T {\mathcal B}$

Associated with two Banach algebras $\mathcal A$ and $\mathcal B$ and a norm decreasing homomorphism $T:{\mathcal B}\rightarrow{\mathcal A}$, there is a certain Banach algebra product ${\mathcal A}\times_T {\mathcal B}$, which is a splitting extension of $\mathcal B$ by $\mathcal A$. We investigate some notions of amenability such as approximate weak amenability, approximate cyclic amenability, ideal amenability, approximate Connes-amenability, Pseudo-Connes amenability, $w^*$-approximate Connes-amenability, essential amenability, essential $ϕ$-amenability and essential character amenability. In particular, we improve the previous results for cyclic amenability of ${\mathcal A}\times_T {\mathcal B}$.

The multiplier algebra and BSE-functions for certain product of Banach algebras

In this paper, we characterize the (left) multiplier algebra of a semidirect product algebra ${\mathcal A}={\mathcal B}\oplus {\mathcal I}$, where ${\mathcal I}$ and ${\mathcal B}$ are closed two-sided ideal and closed subalgebra of ${\mathcal A}$, respectively. As an application of this result we investigate the BSE-property of this class of Banach algebras. We then for two commutative semisimple Banach algebras ${\mathcal A}$ and ${\mathcal B}$ characterize the BSE-functions on the carrier space of ${\mathcal A}\times_ϕ{\mathcal B}$, the $ϕ$-Lau product of ${\mathcal A}$ and ${\mathcal B}$, in terms of those functions on carrier spaces of ${\mathcal A}$ and ${\mathcal B}$. We also prove that ${\mathcal A}\times_ϕ{\mathcal B}$ is a BSE-algebra if and only if both ${\mathcal A}$ and ${\mathcal B}$ are BSE.

Separating maps between commutative Banach algebras

Let $\cal A$ and $\cal B$ be Banach algebras. A linear map $T:{\cal A} \rightarrow {\cal B}$ is called separating or disjointness preserving if $ab=0$ implies $Ta\;Tb = 0$ for all $a,b\in {\cal A}$. In this paper, we study a new class of regular Tauberian algebras and prove that some well-known Banach algebras in harmonic analysis belong to this class. We show that a bijective separating map between these algebras turns out to be continuous and the maximal ideal spaces of underlying algebras are homeomorphic. By imposing extra conditions on these algebras, we find a more thorough characterization of separating maps. The existence of a bijective separating map also leads to the existence of an algebraic isomorphism in some cases.

Lebesgue-Fourier algebra of a hypergroup

Let ${\mathcal L} A(H)$ be the Lebesgue-Fourier space of a hypergroup $H$ considered as a Banach space on $H$. In addition ${\mathcal L}A(H)$ is a Banach algebra with the multiplication inherited from $L^1(H)$. Moreover If $H$ is a regular Fourier hypergroup, ${\mathcal L}A(H)$ is a Banach algebra with pointwise multiplication. We study the amenability and character amenability of these two Banach algebras.
