A Unified Treatment of Quasi-Exactly Solvable Potentials I

A set of quasi-exactly solvable quantum mechanical potentials associated with the Poeschl-Teller potential, the generalized Poeschl-Teller potential, the Scarf potential, and the harmonic oscillator potential have been studied. Solutions of the Schroedinger equation for each potential have been determined and the eigenstates are expressed in terms of the orthogonal polynomials. The potentials are related to each other by suitable change of variables.

Solution of two-mode bosonic Hamiltonians and related physical systems

We have constructed the quasi-exactly-solvable two-mode bosonic realizations of su(2) and su(1, 1) algebra. We derive the relations leading to the conditions for quasi-exact solvability of two-boson Hamiltonians by determining a general procedure which maps the Schwinger representations of the su(2) and su(1, 1) algebras to the Gelfand-Dyson representations, respectively. This mapping allows us to study nonlinear quantum-optical systems in the framework of quasi-exact solvability. Our approach also leads to a simple construction of special functions of two variables which are the most appropriate functions to study quasi-probabilities in quantum optics.

Spectrum of the Relativistic Particles in Various Potentials

We extend the notion of Dirac oscillator in two dimensions, to construct a set of potentials. These potentials becomes exactly and quasi-exactly solvable potentials of non-relativistic quantum mechanics when they are transformed into a Schrödinger-like equation. For the exactly solvable potentials, eigenvalues are calculated and eigenfunctions are given by confluent hypergeometric functions. It is shown that, our formulation also leads to the study of those potentials in the framework of the supersymmetric quantum mechanics.

Quasi exact solution of the Rabi Hamiltonian

A method is suggested to obtain the quasi exact solution of the Rabi Hamiltonian. It is conceptually simple and can be easily extended to other systems. The analytical expressions are obtained for eigenstates and eigenvalues in terms of orthogonal polynomials.

Quasi-exact-solution of the Generalized Exe Jahn-Teller Hamiltonian

We consider the solution of a generalized Exe Jahn-Teller Hamiltonian in the context of quasi-exactly solvable spectral problems. This Hamiltonian is expressed in terms of the generators of the osp(2,2) Lie algebra. Analytical expressions are obtained for eigenstates and eigenvalues. The solutions lead to a number of earlier results discussed in the literature. However, our approach renders a new understanding of ``exact isolated'' solutions.

Explicit Breaking of SO(3) with Higgs Fields in the Representations L =2 and L =3

A gauged SO(3) symmetry is broken into its little groups of the representations L=2 and L=3. Explicit Higgs potentials leading to the spontaneous symmetry breaking are constructed. The masses of the gauge bosons and Higgs particles are calculated in terms of the renormalizable potentials. Emergence of Goldstone bosons arising from the absence of certain potential terms is also discussed. Analogous structures between the cosmic strings and disclinations of liquid crystals are noted.

A systematic study on the exact solution of the position dependent mass Schroedinger equation

An algebraic method of constructing potentials for which the Schroedinger equation with position dependent mass can be solved exactly is presented. A general form of the generators of su(1,1) algebra has been employed with a unified approach to the problem. Our systematic approach reproduces a number of earlier results and also leads to some novelties. We show that the solutions of the Schroedinger equation with position dependent mass are free from the choice of parameters for position dependent mass. Two classes of potentials are constructed that include almost all exactly solvable potentials.

A new class of quasi-exactly solvable potentials with position dependent mass

A new class of quasi exactly solvable potentials with a variable mass in the Schroedinger equation is presented. We have derived a general expression for the potentials also including Natanzon confluent potentials. The general solution of the Schroedinger equation is determined and the eigenstates are expressed in terms of the orthogonal polynomials.
