Zitterbewegung in Noncommutative Geometry

We have considered the effects of space and momentum noncommutativity separately on the zitterbewegung (ZBW) phenomenon. In the space noncommutativity scenario, it has been expressed that, due to the conservation of momentum, the Fourier decomposition of the expectation value of position does~not change. However, the noncommutative (NC) space corrections to the magnetic dipole moment of electron, that was traditionally perceived to come into play only in the first-order of perturbation theory, appear in the leading-order calculations with the similar structure and numerically the same order, but with an opposite sign. This result may explain why for large lumps of masses, the Zeeman-effect due to the noncommutativity remains undetectable. Moreover, we have shown that the $x$- and $y$-components of the electron magnetic dipole moment, contrary to the commutative (usual) version, are non-zero and with the same structure as the $z$-component. In the momentum noncommutativity case, we have indicated that, due to the relevant external uniform magnetic field, the energy-spectrum and also the solutions of the Dirac equation are changed in $3+1$ dimensions. In addition, our analysis shows that in $2+1$ dimensions, the resulted NC field makes electrons in the zero Landau-level rotate not only via a cyclotron motion, but also through the ZBW motion with a frequency proportional to the field, which doubles the amplitude of the rotation. In fact, this is a hallmark of the ZBW in graphene that provides a promising way to be tested experimentally.

Noncommutative Universe and Chameleon Field Dynamics

We consider a noncommutative standard model with a minimal coupling scalar field and a dynamical deformation between the canonical momenta of its scale factor and scalar field, and a chameleon model with a non-minimally coupling scalar field. We indicate that there is a correspondence between these two models, more specific, actually between the noncommutative parameter and the chameleon coupling strength, and also between the matter density of the chameleon model and the noncommutative geometry. In addition, the analogy constrains the type of the matter field in the chameleon model to be nearly a cosmic string-like during the inflation. Thus, the scenario enables the evolution of the universe being described by one single scalar field. That is, the effects of the chameleon and the inflaton can be described by one single scalar field which plays the role of inflaton in the very early universe and then, acts as a chameleon field. Moreover, the proposed correspondence procedure not~only sets some constraints on the noncommutative parameter and the chameleon coupling constant, but also nearly specifies functions of the scalar field and its potential.

Chameleon Field Dynamics During Inflation

By studying the chameleon model during inflation, we investigate whether it can be a successful inflationary model, wherein we employ the common typical potential usually used in the literature. Thus, in the context of the slow-roll approximations, we obtain the number of e-folding for the model to verify the ability of resolving the problems of standard big bang cosmology. Meanwhile, we apply the constraints on the form of the chosen potential and also on the equation of state parameter coupled to the scalar field. However, the results of the present analysis show that there is not much chance of having the chameleonic inflation. Hence, we suggest that if through some mechanism the chameleon model can be reduced to the standard inflationary model, then it may cover the whole era of the universe from the inflation up to the late time.

Dark Matter From f(R,T) Gravity

We consider f(R,T) modified theory of gravity, in which the gravitational Lagrangian is given by an arbitrary function of the Ricci scalar and the trace of the energy-momentum tensor of the matter, in order to investigate the dark-matter effects on the galaxy scale. We obtain the metric components for a spherically symmetric and static spacetime in the vicinity of general relativity solutions. However, we concentrate on a specific model of the theory where the matter is minimally coupled to the geometry, and derive the metric components in the galactic halo. Then, we fix the components by the rotational velocities of the galaxies for the model, and show that the mass corresponding to the interaction term (which appears in the Einstein modified field equation) leads to a flat rotation curve in the halo of galaxies. In addition, for the proposed model, the light-deflection angle has been derived and drawn using some observed data.

Cosmological Constant Implementing Mach Principle in General Relativity

We consider the fact that noticing on the operational meaning of the physical concepts played an impetus role in the appearance of general relativity (GR). Thus, we have paid more attention to the operational definition of the gravitational coupling constant in this theory as a dimensional constant which is gained through an experiment. However, as all available experiments just provide the value of this constant locally, this coupling constant can operationally be meaningful only in a local area. Regarding this point, to obtain an extension of GR for the large scale, we replace it by a conformal invariant model and then, reduce this model to a theory for the cosmological scale via breaking down the conformal symmetry through singling out a specific conformal frame which is characterized by the large scale characteristics of the universe. Finally, we come to the same field equations that historically were proposed by Einstein for the cosmological scale (GR plus the cosmological constant) as the result of his endeavor for making GR consistent with the Mach principle. However, we declare that the obtained field equations in this alternative approach do~not carry the problem of the field equations proposed by Einstein for being consistent with Mach's principle (i.e., the existence of de Sitter solution), and can also be considered compatible with this principle in the Sciama view.

Cosmic Acceleration From Matter-Curvature Coupling

We consider f(R,T) modified theory of gravity in which, in general, the gravitational Lagrangian is given by an arbitrary function of the Ricci scalar and the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. We indicate that in this type of the theory, the coupling energy-momentum tensor is~not conserved. However, we mainly focus on a particular model that matter is minimally coupled to the geometry in the metric formalism and wherein, its coupling energy--momentum tensor is also conserved. We obtain the corresponding Raychaudhuri dynamical equation that presents the evolution of the kinematic quantities. Then for the chosen model, we derive the behavior of the deceleration parameter, and show that the coupling term can lead to an acceleration phase after the matter dominated phase. On the other hand, the curvature of the universe corresponds with the deviation from parallelism in the geodesic motion. Thus, we also scrutinize the motion of the free test particles on their geodesics, and derive the geodesic deviation equation in this modified theory to study the accelerating universe within the spatially flat FLRW background. Actually, this equation gives the relative accelerations of adjacent particles as a measurable physical quantity, and provides an elegant tool to investigate the timelike and the null structures of spacetime geometries. Then, through the null deviation vector, we find the observer area-distance as a function of the redshift for the chosen model, and compare the results with the corresponding results obtained in the literature.

Ether and Relativity

We consider one of the fundamental debates in performing the relativity theory, namely, the ether and the relativity points of view, in a way to aid the learning of the subjects. In addition, we present our views and prospects while describing the issues that being accessible to many physicists and allowing broader views. Also, we very briefly review the two almost recent observations of the Webb redshift and the ultra high-energy cosmic rays, and the modified relativity models that have been presented to justify them, wherein we express that these justifications have not been performed via a single model with a single mechanism.

Cosmological and Solar System Consequences of f(R,T) Gravity Models

To find more deliberate f(R,T) cosmological solutions, we proceed our previous paper further by studying some new aspects of the considered models via investigation of some new cosmological parameters/quantities to attain the most acceptable cosmological results. Our investigations are performed by applying the dynamical system approach. We obtain the cosmological parameters/quantities in terms of some defined dimensionless parameters that are used in constructing the dynamical equations of motion. The investigated parameters/quantities are the evolution of the Hubble parameter and its inverse, the "weight function", the ratio of the matter density to the dark energy density and its time variation, the deceleration, the jerk and the snap parameters, and the equation-of-state parameter of the dark energy. We numerically examine these quantities for two general models $R+αR^{-n}+\sqrt{-T}$ and $R\log{[αR]}^{q}+\sqrt{-T}$. All considered models have some inconsistent quantities (with respect to the available observational data), except the model with n=-0.9 which has more consistent quantities than the other ones. By considering the ratio of the matter density to the dark energy density, we find that the coincidence problem does~not refer to a unique cosmological event, rather, this coincidence also occurred in the early universe. We also present the cosmological solutions for an interesting model $R+c_{1}\sqrt{-T}$ in the non--flat FLRW metric. We show that this model has an attractor solution for the late times, though with $w^{(\textrm{DE})}=-1/2$. This model indicates that the spatial curvature density parameter gets negligible values until the present era, in which it acquires the values of the order $10^{-4}$ or $10^{-3}$. As the second part of this work, we consider the weak-field [It continues ...]

Modified Brans-Dicke Theory in Arbitrary Dimensions

Within an algebraic framework, used to construct the induced-matter-theory (IMT) setting, in $(D+1)$-dimensional Brans-Dicke (BD) scenario, we obtain a modified BD theory (MBDT) in $D$ dimensions. Being more specific, from the $(D+1)$-dimensional field equations, a $D$--dimensional BD theory, bearing new features, is extracted by means of a suitable dimensional reduction onto a hypersurface orthogonal to the extra dimension. In particular, the BD scalar field in such $D$-dimensional theory has a self-interacting potential, which can be suitably interpreted as produced by the extra dimension. Subsequently, as an application to cosmology, we consider an extended spatially flat FLRW geometry in a $(D+1)$-dimensional space-time. After obtaining the power-law solutions in the bulk, we proceed to construct the corresponding physics, by means of the induced MBDT procedure, on the $D$-dimensional hypersurface. We then contrast the resulted solutions (for different phases of the universe) with those usually extracted from the conventional GR and BD theories in view of current ranges for cosmological parameters. We show that the induced perfect fluid background and the induced scalar potential can be employed, within some limits, for describing different epochs of the universe. Finally, we comment on the observational viability of such a model.

Gravitomagnetism and Non-commutative Geometry

Similarity between the gravitoelectromagnetism and the electromagnetism is discussed. We show that the gravitomagnetic field (similar to the magnetic field) can be equivalent to the non-commutative effect of the momentum sector of the phase space when one maintains only the first order of the non-commutative parameters. This is performed through two approaches. In one approach, by employing the Feynman proof, the existence of a Lorentz-like force in the gravitoelectromagnetism is indicated. The appearance of such a force is subjected to the slow motion and the weak field approximations for stationary fields. The analogy between this Lorentz-like force and the motion equation of a test particle in a non-commutative space leads to the mentioned equivalency. In fact, this equivalency is achieved by the comparison of the two motion equations. In the other and quietly independent approach, we demonstrate that a gravitomagnetic background can be treated as a Dirac constraint. That is, the gravitoelectromagnetic field can be regarded as a constrained system from the sense of the Dirac theory. Indeed, the application of the Dirac formalism for the gravitoelectromagnetic field reveals that the phase space coordinates have non-commutative structure from the view of the Dirac bracket. Particularly, the gravitomagnetic field as a weak field induces the non-trivial Dirac bracket of the momentum sector which displays the non-commutativity.

Third Order Lagrangians, Weyl Invariants & Classical Trace Anomaly in Six Dimensions

We have proceeded analogy of Einstein tensor and alternative form of Einstein field equations for generic coeffcients of eight terms in third order of Lovelock Lagrangian. We have found constraint between the coeffcients into two forms, an independent and a dimensional dependent versions. Each form has three degrees of freedom, and not only the exact coeffcients of third order Lovelock Lagrangian satisfy the two forms of constraints, also the two independent cubic of Weyl tensor satisfy the independent constraint in six dimensions and yield the dimensional dependent version identically independent of dimension. We have introduced most general effective expression for a total third order type Lagrangian with the homogeneity degree number three which includes the previous eight terms plus new three ones among all seventeen independent terms. We have proceeded analogy for this combination, and have achieved relevant constraint. We have shown that expressions given in literature as third Weyl invariant combination in six dimensions satisfy this constraint. Thus, we suggest that these constraint relations to be considered as the necessary consistency conditions on the numerical coeffcients that a Weyl invariant in six dimensions should satisfy. We have calculated the "classical" trace anomaly (an approach that was presented in our previous works) for introduced total third order type Lagrangian and have achieved general expression with four degrees of freedom in more than six dimensions. We have demonstrated that resulted expression contains exactly relevant coeffcient of Schwinger-DeWitt proper time method (linked with relevant heat kernel coeffcient) in six dimensions, as a particular case. Our approach can be regarded as alternative derivation of trace anomaly which also gives general expression with the relevant degrees of freedom.

f(R,T) Cosmological Models in Phase Space

We investigate cosmological solutions of f(R,T) modified theories of gravity for perfect fluid in spatially FLRW metric through phase space analysis, where R is Ricci scalar and T denotes the trace of energy-momentum tensor of matter content. We explore and analyze three general theories with Lagrangians of minimal $g(R)+h(T)$, pure non--minimal g(R)h(T) and non-minimal $g(R)(1+h(T))$ couplings through dynamical systems approach. We introduce a few variables and dimensionless parameters to simplify the equations in more concise forms. The conservation of energy-momentum tensor leads to a constraint equation that, in the minimal gravity, confines functionality of h(T) to a particular form, hence, relates the dynamical variables. In this case, acceptable cosmological solutions that contain a long enough matter dominated era followed by a late-time accelerated expansion are found. To support theoretical results, we also obtain numerical solutions for a few functions of g(R), and results of the corresponding models confirm the predictions. We classify solutions into six classes which demonstrate more acceptable solutions and there is more freedom to have the matter dominated era than in the f(R) gravity. In particular, there is a new fixed point which can represent late-time acceleration. We draw different diagrams of the matter densities (consistent with the present values), the related scale factors and effective equation of state. The corresponding diagrams of parameters illustrate that there is a saddle acceleration era which is a middle era before final stable acceleration de Sitter era for some models. All presented diagrams determine radiation, matter and late-time acceleration eras very well.

Dark Energy From Fifth Dimensional Brans-Dicke Theory

Following the approach of the induced-matter theory, we investigate the cosmological implications of a five-dimensional Brans-Dicke theory, and propose to explain the acceleration of the universe. After inducing in a four-dimensional hypersurface, we classify the energy-momentum tensor into two parts in a way that, one part represents all kind of the matter (the baryonic and dark) and the other one contains every extra terms emerging from the scale factor of the fifth dimension and the scalar field, which we consider as the energy-momentum tensor of dark energy. We also separate the energy-momentum conservation equation into two conservation equations, one for matter and the other for dark energy. We perform this procedure for different cases, without interacting term and with two particular (suitable) interacting terms between the two parts. By assuming the parameter of the state equation for dark energy to be constant, the equations of the model admit the power-law solutions. Though, the non-interacting case does not give any accelerated universe, but the interacting cases give both decelerated and accelerated universes. For the interacting cases, we figure out analytically the acceptable ranges of some parameters of the model, and also investigate the data analysis to test the model parameter values consistency with the observational data of the distance modulus of 580 SNe Ia compiled in Union2.1. For one of these interacting cases, the best fitted values suggest that the Brans-Dicke coupling constant (ω) is -7.75, however, it also gives the state parameter of dark energy (wX) equal to -0.67. In addition, the model gives the Hubble and deceleration parameters at the present time to be H0 = 69.4 (km/s)/Mpc and q0 = -0.38 (within their confidence intervals), where the scale factor of the fifth dimension shrinks with the time.

Horizon Problem Remediation via Deformed Phase Space

We investigate the effects of a special kind of dynamical deformation between the momenta of the scalar field of the Brans-Dicke theory and the scale factor of the FRW metric. This special choice of deformation includes linearly a deformation parameter. We trace the deformation footprints in the cosmological equations of motion when the BD coupling parameter goes to infinity. One class of the solutions gives a constant scale factor in the late time that confirms the previous result obtained via another approach in the literature. This effect can be interpreted as a quantum gravity footprint in the coarse grained explanation. The another class of the solutions removes the big bang singularity, and the accelerating expansion region has an infinite temporal range which overcomes the horizon problem. After this epoch, there is a graceful exiting by which the universe enters in the radiation dominated era.

On Dynamics of Brans--Dicke Theory of Gravitation

We study longstanding problem of cosmological clock in the context of Brans-Dicke theory of gravitation. We present the Hamiltonian formulation of the theory for a class of spatially homogenous cosmological models. Then, we show that formulation of the Brans-Dicke theory in the Einstein frame allows how an identification of an appropriate cosmological time variable, as a function of the scalar field in the theory, can be emerged in quantum cosmology. The classical and quantum results are applied to the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmological models.

Anisotropic Cosmological Model in Modified Brans--Dicke Theory

It has been shown that four dimensional Brans-Dicke theory with effective matter field and self interacting potential can be achieved from vacuum 5D BD field equations, where we refer to as modified Brans-Dicke theory (MBDT). We investigate a generalized Bianchi type I anisotropic cosmology in 5D BD theory, and by employing obtained formalism, we derive induced-matter on any 4D hypersurface in context of the MBDT. We illustrate that if the usual spatial scale factors are functions of time while scale factor of extra dimension is constant, and scalar field depends on time and fifth coordinate, then in general, one will encounter inconsistencies in field equations. Then, we assume the scale factors and scalar field depend on time and extra coordinate as separated variables in power law forms. Hence, we find a few classes of solutions in 5D spacetime through which, we probe the one which leads to a generalized Kasner relations among Kasner parameters. The induced scalar potential is found to be in power law or in logarithmic form, however, for constant scaler field and even when scalar field only depends on fifth coordinate, it vanishes. The conservation law is indeed valid in this MBDT approach for derived induced energy momentum tensor (EMT). We proceed our investigations for a few cosmological quantities, where for simplicity we assume metric and scalar field are functions of time. Hence, the EMT satisfies barotropic equation of state, and the model indicates that constant mean Hubble parameter is not allowed. Thus, by appealing to variation of Hubble parameter, we assume a fixed deceleration parameter, and set evolution of quantities with respect to the fixed deceleration, BD coupling and state parameters. The WEC allows a shrinking extra dimension for decelerating expanding universe that, in the constant scalar field, evolves same as flat FRW spacetime in GR.

Zitterbewegung in External Magnetic Field: Classic versus Quantum Approach

We investigate variations of the Zitterbewegung frequency of electron due to an external static and uniform magnetic field employing the expectation value quantum approach, and compare our results with the classical model of spinning particles. We demonstrate that these two so far compatible approaches are not in agreement in the presence of an external uniform static magnetic field, in which the classical approach breaks the usual symmetry of free particles and antiparticles states, i.e. it leads to CP violation. Hence, regarding the Zitterbewegung frequency of electron, the classical approach in the presence of an external magnetic field is unlikely to correctly describe the spin of electron, while the quantum approach does, as expected. We also show that the results obtained via the expectation value are in close agreement with the quantum approach of the Heisenberg picture derived in the literature. However, the method we use is capable of being compared with the classical approach regarding the spin aspects. The classical interpretation of spin produced by the altered Zitterbewegung frequency, in the presence of an external magnetic field, are discussed.

Noncommutative Double Scalar Fields in FRW Cosmology as Cosmical Oscillators

We investigate effects of noncommutativity of phase space generated by two scalar fields conformally coupled to curvature in FRW cosmology. We restrict deformation of minisuperspace to noncommutativity between scalar fields and between their canonical conjugate momenta. The investigation is carried out by means of comparative analysis of mathematical properties of time evolution of variables in classical model and wave function of universe in quantum level. We find that impose of noncommutativity causes more ability in tuning time solutions of scalar fields and hence, has important implications in evolution of universe. We get that noncommutative parameter in momenta sector is the only responsible parameter for noncommutative effects in flat universes. A distinguishing feature of noncommutative solutions of scalar fields is that they can be simulated with well known harmonic oscillators, depend on values of spatial curvature. Namely free, forced and damped harmonic oscillators corresponding to flat, closed and open universes. In this respect, we call them cosmical oscillators. In closed universes, when noncommutative parameters are small, cosmical oscillators have analogous effect with familiar beating effect in sound phenomenon. The existence of non-zero constant potential does not change solutions of scalar fields, but modifies scale factor. An interesting feature of well behaved solutions of wave functions is that functional form of its radial part is the same as commutative ones provided that given replacement of constants, caused by noncommutative parameters, is performed. Further, Noether theorem has been employed to explore effects of noncommutativity on underlying symmetries in commutative frame. Two of six Noether symmetries of flat universes, in general, are retained in noncommutative case, and one out of three ones in non flat universes.
