MGDT: MLLM-Guided Diffusion Transformer with Relation-Adaptive Mixture-of-Experts for Multimodal Knowledge Graph Completion

Multimodal Knowledge Graph Completion (MKGC) requires inferring missing entities from structural, textual, and visual cues. Existing diffusion-based MKGC methods usually denoise directly on raw multimodal features. Such a design forces the denoiser to simultaneously perform relation-dependent cue selection, cross-modal semantic alignment, and structure-aware entity generation, which introduces noisy and semantically inconsistent conditions for diffusion and consequently leads to suboptimal completion performance. To address this limitation, we propose MGDT: MLLM-Guided Diffusion Transformer with Relation-Adaptive Mixture-of-Experts (MGDT), a novel MKGC framework built on an align-then-diffuse paradigm. MGDT first employs a Relation-Adaptive Semantic Routing Mixture-of-Experts (RASR-MoE) module to select relation-relevant multimodal semantic transformation paths and suppress irrelevant modality interference. MGDT then uses a frozen Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM) as a semantic anchor to align the routed multimodal representations into a unified latent space and reduce cross-modal semantic heterogeneity. Finally, a Knowledge Graph Diffusion Transformer (KGDT) performs graph-conditioned denoising generation in the aligned space to produce the missing entity representation. Experiments on three benchmark datasets show that MGDT consistently outperforms strong baselines.

What Does Your Short-Answer VQA Score Actually Measure? Evaluator-Dependent Instability in Multimodal Short-Answer Benchmarks

Short-answer VQA benchmarks conflate two distinct quantities: whether a model's answer is semantically correct, and whether that answer matches the surface form expected by the automatic evaluator. We study this conflation across six vision--language models and six benchmarks, using a human-validated semantic judge (97.6% precision) to audit over 37k official errors. A second text-only judge reproduces the same benchmark-level false-negative pattern, showing that the effect is not an artifact of a single audit model. On text-rich benchmarks, up to half of these errors are semantically acceptable answers penalized purely for surface-form mismatch. This instability is structured by answer type: extractive and multi-span answers are far more evaluator-sensitive than scalar answers. Benign prompt and context rewrites further destabilize official outcomes, flipping item-level correctness at substantial rates without changing the underlying task. A deterministic CPU-only contract repair confirms that the undercount is partially recoverable. These findings imply that official short-answer VQA scores should be accompanied by semantic audits and answer-type diagnostics to remain interpretable.

Beyond Metadata: CAPRA for Hidden Subgroup Analysis under Missing Metadata in Medical Imaging

Medical imaging models are often deployed without the demographic, acquisition, and quality metadata needed for subgroup auditing. Once those metadata disappear, clinically critical failure modes can be masked by strong aggregate performance, and many robust-learning methods lose the group structure they rely on. We present CAPRA, a calibrated proxy-axis framework for hidden subgroup analysis under missing metadata. CAPRA predicts image-derived semantic axes, calibrates axis posteriors on a small metadata-labeled split via patient-level cross-fitting, and organizes those posteriors into a calibrated subgroup interface that supports both deployment-time failure analysis and downstream robust learning without requiring subgroup labels at deployment. Across fundus, dermoscopy, and chest radiography, CAPRA reveals disparity patterns missed by metadata-only slicing, remains informative under dataset shift, and produces subgroup partitions that align more closely with explicit failure axes than image-only or latent-slice baselines. The same interface can also be reused by downstream robust learners, although those gains are domain-dependent. Overall, CAPRA turns hidden subgroup analysis under missing metadata into a calibrated, interpretable, and reusable subgroup interface for deployment-time analysis and robust transfer.

ELMM: Efficient Lightweight Multimodal Large Language Models for Multimodal Knowledge Graph Completion

Multimodal Knowledge Graphs (MKGs) extend traditional knowledge graphs by incorporating visual and textual modalities, enabling richer and more expressive entity representations. However, existing MKGs often suffer from incompleteness, which hinder their effectiveness in downstream tasks. Therefore, multimodal knowledge graph completion (MKGC) task is receiving increasing attention. While large language models (LLMs) have shown promise for knowledge graph completion (KGC), their application to the multimodal setting remains underexplored. Moreover, applying Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) to the task of MKGC introduces significant challenges: (1) the large number of image tokens per entity leads to semantic noise and modality conflicts, and (2) the high computational cost of processing large token inputs. To address these issues, we propose Efficient Lightweight Multimodal Large Language Models (ELMM) for MKGC. ELMM proposes a Multi-view Visual Token Compressor (MVTC) based on multi-head attention mechanism, which adaptively compresses image tokens from both textual and visual views, thereby effectively reducing redundancy while retaining necessary information and avoiding modality conflicts. Additionally, we design an attention pruning strategy to remove redundant attention layers from MLLMs, thereby significantly reducing the inference cost. We further introduce a linear projection to compensate for the performance degradation caused by pruning. Extensive experiments on four benchmark datasets demonstrate that ELMM achieves state-of-the-art performance.

Addressing Graph Heterogeneity and Heterophily from A Spectral Perspective

Graph neural networks (GNNs) have demonstrated excellent performance in semi-supervised node classification tasks. Despite this, two primary challenges persist: heterogeneity and heterophily. Each of these two challenges can significantly hinder the performance of GNNs. Heterogeneity refers to a graph with multiple types of nodes or edges, while heterophily refers to the fact that connected nodes are more likely to have dissimilar attributes or labels. Although there have been few works studying heterogeneous heterophilic graphs, they either only consider the heterophily of specific meta-paths and lack expressiveness, or have high expressiveness but fail to exploit high-order neighbors. In this paper, we propose a Heterogeneous Heterophilic Spectral Graph Neural Network (H2SGNN), which employs two modules: local independent filtering and global hybrid filtering. Local independent filtering adaptively learns node representations under different homophily, while global hybrid filtering exploits high-order neighbors to learn more possible meta-paths. Extensive experiments are conducted on four datasets to validate the effectiveness of the proposed H2SGNN, which achieves superior performance with fewer parameters and memory consumption. The code is available at the GitHub repo: https://github.com/Lukangkang123/H2SGNN/.

DiffusionCom: Structure-Aware Multimodal Diffusion Model for Multimodal Knowledge Graph Completion

Most current MKGC approaches are predominantly based on discriminative models that maximize conditional likelihood. These approaches struggle to efficiently capture the complex connections in real-world knowledge graphs, thereby limiting their overall performance. To address this issue, we propose a structure-aware multimodal Diffusion model for multimodal knowledge graph Completion (DiffusionCom). DiffusionCom innovatively approaches the problem from the perspective of generative models, modeling the association between the $(head, relation)$ pair and candidate tail entities as their joint probability distribution $p((head, relation), (tail))$, and framing the MKGC task as a process of gradually generating the joint probability distribution from noise. Furthermore, to fully leverage the structural information in MKGs, we propose Structure-MKGformer, an adaptive and structure-aware multimodal knowledge representation learning method, as the encoder for DiffusionCom. Structure-MKGformer captures rich structural information through a multimodal graph attention network (MGAT) and adaptively fuses it with entity representations, thereby enhancing the structural awareness of these representations. This design effectively addresses the limitations of existing MKGC methods, particularly those based on multimodal pre-trained models, in utilizing structural information. DiffusionCom is trained using both generative and discriminative losses for the generator, while the feature extractor is optimized exclusively with discriminative loss. This dual approach allows DiffusionCom to harness the strengths of both generative and discriminative models. Extensive experiments on the FB15k-237-IMG and WN18-IMG datasets demonstrate that DiffusionCom outperforms state-of-the-art models.

Improving Expressive Power of Spectral Graph Neural Networks with Eigenvalue Correction

In recent years, spectral graph neural networks, characterized by polynomial filters, have garnered increasing attention and have achieved remarkable performance in tasks such as node classification. These models typically assume that eigenvalues for the normalized Laplacian matrix are distinct from each other, thus expecting a polynomial filter to have a high fitting ability. However, this paper empirically observes that normalized Laplacian matrices frequently possess repeated eigenvalues. Moreover, we theoretically establish that the number of distinguishable eigenvalues plays a pivotal role in determining the expressive power of spectral graph neural networks. In light of this observation, we propose an eigenvalue correction strategy that can free polynomial filters from the constraints of repeated eigenvalue inputs. Concretely, the proposed eigenvalue correction strategy enhances the uniform distribution of eigenvalues, thus mitigating repeated eigenvalues, and improving the fitting capacity and expressive power of polynomial filters. Extensive experimental results on both synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrate the superiority of our method. The code is available at: https://github.com/Lukangkang123/EC-GNN

Trust-free Personalized Decentralized Learning

Personalized collaborative learning in federated settings faces a critical trade-off between customization and participant trust. Existing approaches typically rely on centralized coordinators or trusted peer groups, limiting their applicability in open, trust-averse environments. While recent decentralized methods explore anonymous knowledge sharing, they often lack global scalability and robust mechanisms against malicious peers. To bridge this gap, we propose TPFed, a \textit{Trust-free Personalized Decentralized Federated Learning} framework. TPFed replaces central aggregators with a blockchain-based bulletin board, enabling participants to dynamically select global communication partners based on Locality-Sensitive Hashing (LSH) and peer ranking. Crucially, we introduce an ``all-in-one'' knowledge distillation protocol that simultaneously handles knowledge transfer, model quality evaluation, and similarity verification via a public reference dataset. This design ensures secure, globally personalized collaboration without exposing local models or data. Extensive experiments demonstrate that TPFed significantly outperforms traditional federated baselines in both learning accuracy and system robustness against adversarial attacks.

Dynamic Self-adaptive Multiscale Distillation from Pre-trained Multimodal Large Model for Efficient Cross-modal Representation Learning

In recent years, pre-trained multimodal large models have attracted widespread attention due to their outstanding performance in various multimodal applications. Nonetheless, the extensive computational resources and vast datasets required for their training present significant hurdles for deployment in environments with limited computational resources. To address this challenge, we propose a novel dynamic self-adaptive multiscale distillation from pre-trained multimodal large model for efficient cross-modal representation learning for the first time. Unlike existing distillation methods, our strategy employs a multiscale perspective, enabling the extraction structural knowledge across from the pre-trained multimodal large model. Ensuring that the student model inherits a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the teacher knowledge. To optimize each distillation loss in a balanced and efficient manner, we propose a dynamic self-adaptive distillation loss balancer, a novel component eliminating the need for manual loss weight adjustments and dynamically balances each loss item during the distillation process. Our methodology streamlines pre-trained multimodal large models using only their output features and original image-level information, requiring minimal computational resources. This efficient approach is suited for various applications and allows the deployment of advanced multimodal technologies even in resource-limited settings. Extensive experiments has demonstrated that our method maintains high performance while significantly reducing model complexity and training costs. Moreover, our distilled student model utilizes only image-level information to achieve state-of-the-art performance on cross-modal retrieval tasks, surpassing previous methods that relied on region-level information.

Topic model based on co-occurrence word networks for unbalanced short text datasets

We propose a straightforward solution for detecting scarce topics in unbalanced short-text datasets. Our approach, named CWUTM (Topic model based on co-occurrence word networks for unbalanced short text datasets), addresses the challenge of sparse and unbalanced short text topics by mitigating the effects of incidental word co-occurrence. This allows our model to prioritize the identification of scarce topics (low-frequency topics). Unlike previous methods, CWUTM leverages co-occurrence word networks to capture the topic distribution of each word, and enhances the sensitivity in identifying scarce topics by redefining the calculation of node activity and normalizing the representation of both scarce and abundant topics to some extent. Moreover, CWUTM adopts Gibbs sampling, similar to LDA, making it easily adaptable to various application scenarios. Extensive experimental validation on unbalanced short-text datasets demonstrates the superiority of CWUTM compared to baseline approaches in discovering scarce topics. According to the experimental results, the proposed model is effective in early and accurate detection of emerging topics or unexpected events on social platforms.

Semantic Representation Learning of Scientific Literature based on Adaptive Feature and Graph Neural Network

Because most scientific literature data are unlabeled, semantic representation learning based on unsupervised graphs has become crucial. To enrich scientific-literature features, this paper proposes a semantic representation learning method based on adaptive features and graph neural networks. By introducing adaptive feature processing, scientific-literature features are considered globally and locally. The graph attention mechanism weights and aggregates features of scientific documents connected by citation relations, so that correlations among different documents can be expressed more effectively. In addition, an unsupervised graph neural network semantic representation learning method is proposed. By comparing the mutual information between positive and negative local semantic representations of scientific literature and the global graph semantic representation in the latent space, the graph neural network captures local and global information and improves semantic representation learning. Experimental results show that the proposed method is competitive for scientific literature classification.

Federated Topic Model and Model Pruning Based on Variational Autoencoder

Topic modeling has emerged as a valuable tool for discovering patterns and topics within large collections of documents. However, when cross-analysis involves multiple parties, data privacy becomes a critical concern. Federated topic modeling has been developed to address this issue, allowing multiple parties to jointly train models while protecting privacy. However, there are communication and performance challenges in the federated scenario. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a method to establish a federated topic model while ensuring the privacy of each node and uses neural network model pruning to accelerate the model. The client periodically sends cumulative neuron gradients and model weights to the server, and the server prunes the model. To address different requirements, two methods are proposed to determine the pruning rate. The first slowly prunes throughout training, which has limited acceleration during training but can ensure higher accuracy and significantly reduce inference time. The second quickly reaches the target pruning rate early in training and then continues training with a smaller model. This approach may lose more useful information but can complete training faster. Experimental results show that the proposed variational-autoencoder-based federated topic model pruning can greatly accelerate training while maintaining model performance.

Unsupervised Semantic Representation Learning of Scientific Literature Based on Graph Attention Mechanism and Maximum Mutual Information

Since most scientific literature data are unlabeled, this makes unsupervised graph-based semantic representation learning crucial. Therefore, an unsupervised semantic representation learning method of scientific literature based on graph attention mechanism and maximum mutual information (GAMMI) is proposed. By introducing a graph attention mechanism, the weighted summation of nearby node features make the weights of adjacent node features entirely depend on the node features. Depending on the features of the nearby nodes, different weights can be applied to each node in the graph. Therefore, the correlations between vertex features can be better integrated into the model. In addition, an unsupervised graph contrastive learning strategy is proposed to solve the problem of being unlabeled and scalable on large-scale graphs. By comparing the mutual information between the positive and negative local node representations on the latent space and the global graph representation, the graph neural network can capture both local and global information. Experimental results demonstrate competitive performance on various node classification benchmarks, achieving good results and sometimes even surpassing the performance of supervised learning.

Cross-modal Search Method of Technology Video based on Adversarial Learning and Feature Fusion

Technology videos contain rich multi-modal information. In cross-modal information search, the data features of different modalities cannot be compared directly, so the semantic gap between different modalities is a key problem that needs to be solved. To address the above problems, this paper proposes a novel Feature Fusion based Adversarial Cross-modal Retrieval method (FFACR) to achieve text-to-video matching, ranking and searching. The proposed method uses the framework of adversarial learning to construct a video multimodal feature fusion network and a feature mapping network as generator, a modality discrimination network as discriminator. Multi-modal features of videos are obtained by the feature fusion network. The feature mapping network projects multi-modal features into the same semantic space based on semantics and similarity. The modality discrimination network is responsible for determining the original modality of features. Generator and discriminator are trained alternately based on adversarial learning, so that the data obtained by the feature mapping network is semantically consistent with the original data and the modal features are eliminated, and finally the similarity is used to rank and obtain the search results in the semantic space. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method performs better in text-to-video search than other existing methods, and validate the effectiveness of the method on the self-built datasets of technology videos.

Embedding Representation of Academic Heterogeneous Information Networks Based on Federated Learning

Academic networks in the real world can usually be portrayed as heterogeneous information networks (HINs) with multi-type, universally connected nodes and multi-relationships. Some existing studies for the representation learning of homogeneous information networks cannot be applicable to heterogeneous information networks because of the lack of ability to issue heterogeneity. At the same time, data has become a factor of production, playing an increasingly important role. Due to the closeness and blocking of businesses among different enterprises, there is a serious phenomenon of data islands. To solve the above challenges, aiming at the data information of scientific research teams closely related to science and technology, we proposed an academic heterogeneous information network embedding representation learning method based on federated learning (FedAHE), which utilizes node attention and meta path attention mechanism to learn low-dimensional, dense and real-valued vector representations while preserving the rich topological information and meta-path-based semantic information of nodes in network. Moreover, we combined federated learning with the representation learning of HINs composed of scientific research teams and put forward a federal training mechanism based on dynamic weighted aggregation of parameters (FedDWA) to optimize the node embeddings of HINs. Through sufficient experiments, the efficiency, accuracy and feasibility of our proposed framework are demonstrated.

The research team is identified on the data set of scientific research achievements, and the accurate three-dimensional portraits of the research team are generated and visualized. Experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Cross-media Scientific Research Achievements Query based on Ranking Learning

With the advent of the information age, the scale of data on the Internet is getting larger and larger, and it is full of text, images, videos, and other information. Different from social media data and news data, scientific research achievement information has the characteristics of many proper nouns and strong ambiguity. The traditional single-mode query method based on keywords can no longer meet the needs of scientific researchers and managers of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Scientific research project information and scientific research scholar information contain a large amount of valuable scientific research achievement information. Evaluating the output capability of scientific research projects and scientific research teams can effectively assist managers in decision-making. In view of the above background, this paper expounds on the research status from four aspects: characteristic learning of scientific research results, cross-media research results query, ranking learning of scientific research results, and cross-media scientific research achievement query systems.
