SVOM Ground Support System

The Ground Support System (GSS) is a critical component of the Space-based multi-band astronomical Variable Objects Monitor (SVOM) mission's ground segment. Its main tasks include organizing and implementing the operations and management of the SVOM payloads, receiving scientific data, as well as preprocessing and managing the scientific data. To address the specific requirements of the SVOM mission, including specialized mission planning, data reception, status monitoring, and product processing, a dedicated SVOM Ground Support System has been designed based on the integrated architecture of the Chinese Space Science Satellite Project Ground Support System. This system has successfully supported SVOM's launch and on-orbit operations.

SVOM Real-time Response and Collaboration System

The SVOM mission (Space-based multi-band astronomical Variable Objects Monitor) is a Franco-Chinese mission dedicated to the study of the most distant explosions of stars, the gamma-ray bursts. Here, we introduce the real-time response and collaboration system of SVOM, with the adoption of the BeiDou-3 short message communication service. We present the SVOM on-board and on-ground system designs and data flow, together with the collaboration mechanism with other missions. In the first year of the in-flight operation, SVOM has detected 172 gamma-ray bursts, including 147 by the GRM instrument and 62 by the ECLAIRs instrument. At the same time, SVOM has performed 1040 observations, including 122 ToO-EX(Target of Opportunity-Exceptional) observations, 48 ToO-MM(Target of Opportunity-Multi-messenger) observations and 870 ToO-NOM(Target of Opportunity-Nominal) observations. All these have increased the scientific output of the mission.

Study on the detector energy response of SVOM/GRM

The SVOM mission is specifically designed to for the detection and localization of Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) and subsequent follow-up observations. Among the four telescopes installed on the SVOM satellite, the Gamma-Ray Monitor (GRM) plays a crucial role in capturing the prompt emission of GRBs due to its wide field of view (FOV) and broad energy range. Accurate determination of the detector's energy response is vital for analyzing GRM data, particularly considering the significant impact of the atmospheric albedo effect on this response. This research focuses on deriving the detector's energy response and establishing a calibration database for the GRM, with particular emphasis on investigating the atmospheric albedo effect. The study shows that the contribution of albedo photons to the detector's effective area depends strongly on the orientation of the GRD line of sight (LoS) relative to Earth and on the incident direction of the GRB. When the GRD LoS is anti-Earth oriented, the albedo effect is minimal, with the highest proportion of albedo effective area accounting for approximately 10% of the total effective area. This occurs when the incident angle of the GRB is nearly perpendicular to the LoS. Conversely, if the GRD LoS is not pointing away from Earth and the GRB arrives from angles greater than about 90$^{\circ}$, the albedo component can become predominant, contributing up to around 100% of the total effective area. This is especially pronounced in the 8-20 keV range, where the direct effective area drops to zero due to the large GRB injection angle. Our results show that, it is necessary for GRM to consider the atmospheric albedo effects in detector response, otherwise the spectral and localization analyses will result in biased measurements.

Blow-up Criteria for the Three Dimensional Nonlinear Dissipative System Modeling Electro-hydrodynamics

In this paper, we investigate some sufficient conditions for the breakdown of local smooth solutions to the three dimensional nonlinear nonlocal dissipative system modeling electro-hydrodynamics. This model is a strongly coupled system by the well-known incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and the classical Poisson-Nernst-Planck equations. We show that the maximum of the vorticity field alone controls the breakdown of smooth solutions, which reveals that the velocity field plays a more dominant role than the density functions of charged particles in the blow-up theory of the system. Moreover, some Prodi-Serrin type blow-up criteria are also established.

Global Existence of Solution for a Nonlinear Size-structured Population Model with Distributed Delay in the Recruitment

In this paper we study a nonlinear size-structured population model with distributed delay in the recruitment. The delayed problem is reduced into an abstract initial value problem of an ordinary differential equation in the Banach space by using the delay semigroup techniques. The local existence and uniqueness of solution as well as the continuous dependence on initial conditions are obtained by using the general theory of quasi-linear evolution equations in nonreflexive Banach spaces, while the global existence of solution is obtained by the estimates of the solution and the extension theorem.

Mathematical analysis of population migration and its effects to spread of epidemics

In this paper we study some mathematical models describing evolution of population density and spread of epidemics in population systems in which spatial movement of individuals depends only on the departure and arrival locations and does not have apparent connection with the population density. We call such models as population migration models and migration epidemics models, respectively. We first apply the theories of positive operators and positive semigroups to make systematic investigation to asymptotic behavior of solutions of the population migration models as time goes to infinity, and next use such results to study asymptotic behavior of solutions of the migration epidemics models as time goes to infinity. Some interesting properties of solutions of these models are obtained.
