Physics-Informed Quantum Machine Learning with Hard Constraint Embedding for Nonlinear Differential Equations of the First Order

Quantum algorithms based on linear-system approaches for solving differential equations demand qubit and precision resources beyond near-term capabilities. To address these challenges, this work proposes a physics-informed quantum machine learning (PIQML) framework with hard constraint embedding, specifically designed for NISQ era. Within this framework, parameterized quantum circuits serve as machine learning models, where the input variable is encoded into a high-dimensional feature space via a Fourier feature map. Subsequently, to eliminate approximation errors in critical physical conditions, the solution is constructed through a rigorously designed function mapper that analytically enforces initial conditions as hard constraints. Crucially, we compute derivatives with respect to the input variable using the parameter-shift rule---a quantum native gradient evaluation technique that avoids classical discretization. Unlike generic loss functions that target abstract data patterns, our loss function focuses on the differential equation residual and reference data. This design ensures that the trained model not only approximates the data but also intrinsically satisfies the physical constraint expressed by the DE itself. Our method is validated on several differential equations, including highly oscillatory ones, demonstrating its capability to tackle challenging nonlinear dynamics. Results demonstrate that our quantum model successfully learns the solution, showing close agreement with a high-precision classical numerical benchmark.

Experimental Study of Bremsstrahlung Gamma Ray Emission and Short-Range Correlations in $^{124}$Sn+$^{124}$Sn Collisions at 25 MeV/u

Short-range correlation (SRC) in nuclei refers to nucleons forming temporally correlated pairs in close proximity, giving rise to the high momentum of the nucleons beyond the Fermi surface. It has been reported that bremsstrahlung $\gamma$ production from neutron-proton process in heavy-ion reactions provides a potential probe to the SRC abundance in nuclei. In this paper, we present in detail the precision measurement of bremsstrahlung $\gamma$-rays in $\rm ^{124}Sn$+$\rm ^{124}Sn$ reactions at 25 MeV/u using the Compact Spectrometer for Heavy IoN Experiment (CSHINE). A comprehensive experimental and analysis framework is established to ensure the reliability and robustness of the extracted results. Background contributions are evaluated and subtracted using independent methods, and the consistency of the analysis is systematically validated. By comparing the experimental $\gamma$ spectrum with the Isospin-dependent Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck simulations, the high momentum tail (HMT) fraction of $R_{\rm HMT}=(20 \pm 3)\%$ is derived in $^{124}$Sn nuclei. This work provides a detailed and validated experimental framework for extracting SRC information from bremsstrahlung $\gamma$-ray emission and demonstrates the feasibility of studying nucleon SRCs with high precision in low-energy heavy-ion collisions.

First systematic experimental 2D mapping of linearly polarized $\gamma$-ray polarimetric distribution in relativistic Compton scattering

The interaction of photons with relativistic electrons constitutes a fundamental electromagnetic process whose polarization transfer mechanics remain incompletely characterized. We report the first systematic measurement of spatial polarization distribution for $\gamma$-rays generated via \SI{45}{\degree} slant inverse Compton scattering (ICS) between linearly polarized \SI{0.117}{\eV} photons and \SI{3.5}{\GeV} electrons, performing full 2D mapping of intensity, polarization angle (AOP), and degree of polarization (DOP). Measurements reveal an asymmetric beam profile along the laser's polarization direction that resembles \SI{180}{\degree} backward ICS observations. The central beam region exhibits DOP $\approx$ 1.0 with AOP rigidly aligned at \SI{45}{\degree}, while peripheral regions display complex non-uniform polarization distributions. These findings confirm quantum electrodynamics predictions of near-complete polarization transfer along the beam axis in slant geometries, thus establishing slant scattering as a viable alternative to head-on configurations for generating high DOP $\gamma$-rays.

Precise Measurement of Short-Range Correlations in Nuclei from Bremsstrahlung Gamma Ray Emission in Low-Energy Heavy-Ion Collisions

Atomic nuclei and dense nucleonic matter in neutron stars exhibit short-range correlations (SRCs), where nucleons form temporally correlated pairs in proximity beyond mean-field approximation. It is essential to make precision measurement of the fraction of SRC since it carries the signature of underlying quark dynamics in nuclear medium. In this letter, we present the first high-precision measurement of neutron-proton bremsstrahlung $\gamma$-ray emission from the symmetric $\rm ^{124}Sn$+$\rm ^{124}Sn$ reactions at 25 MeV/u. From the observed spectral hardening, the precise SRC fraction in the $\rm ^{124}Sn$ nucleus is extracted to be $(20 \pm 3)\%$. This result provides a novel, direct and unambiguous evidence of SRCs, and demonstrates that low-energy heavy-ion collisions offers a new approach to studying nuclear structure in connection with quark-level dynamics.

Linear Response of CsI(Tl) Crystal to Energetic Photons below 20 MeV

The linear response of CsI(Tl) crystals to $\gamma$-rays plays a crucial role in their calibration, as any deviation from linearity can introduce systematic errors not negligible in the measurement of $\gamma$ energy spectra, particularly at high energies. In this study, the responses of CsI(Tl) crystals to high-energy photons up to 20 MeV are investigated using quasi monochromatic $\gamma$ beam provided by the Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source. The spectra are folded using a detector filter implemented by Geant4. Both quadratic and linear fits to six energy points are used to assess the linearity of the CsI(Tl) detector. The results demonstrate that the difference between the linear and non-linear fits is at the level of 4\%. Applying these findings to the $\gamma$ hodoscope of the Compact Spectrometer for Heavy Ion Experiment (CSHINE), the potential systematic uncertainties caused by CsI(Tl) non-linearity are evaluated. This work provides a comprehensive calibration methodology for employing CsI(Tl) crystal to detect high energy $\gamma$-rays.

Spatial search for a general multi-vertex state on graph by continuous-time quantum walks

In this work, we consider the spatial search for a general marked state on graphs by continuous time quantum walks. As a simplest case, we compute the amplitude expression of the search for the multi-vertex uniform superposition state on hypercube, and find that the spatial search algorithm is optimal for the two-vertex uniform state. However, on general graphs, a common formula can't be obtained for searching a general non-uniform superposition state. Fortunately, a Laplacian spectrum condition which determines whether the associated graph could be appropriate for performing the optimal spatial search is presented. The condition implies that if the proportion of the maximum and the non-zero minimum Laplacian eigenvalues is less or equal to 1+sqrt(1/2), then the spatial search is optimal for any general state. At last, we apply this condition to three kind graphs, the induced complete graph, the strongly regular graph and the regular complete multi-partite graphs. By the condition, one can conclude that these graphs will become suitable for optimal search with properly setting their graph parameters.

The optimal search on graph by continuous-time quantum walks

Chakraborty and Leonardo have shown that a spatial search by quantum walk is optimal for almost all graphs. However, we observed that on some graphs, certain states cannot be searched optimally. We present a method for constructing an optimal graph that searches an arbitrary state and provides the optimal condition. We also analyze the monotonicity of the search performance and conclude that the search performance can be improved by adding edges.
