Divergence-form equations admitting nowhere $C^1$ Lipschitz weak solutions

We study a class of partial differential equations in divergence form that admit highly irregular Lipschitz weak solutions. By reformulating these divergence-form equations as a first-order partial differential relation and adapting the convex integration scheme recently developed in \cite{GKY26} for irregular diffusion equations, we show that the same structural Condition~$O_N$ introduced there also ensures the existence of Lipschitz weak solutions that are nowhere $C^1$ for the corresponding time-independent equations in bounded domains, under suitable boundary data. In particular, for the smooth strongly polyconvex functions on $\mathbb{R}^{2\times n}$ constructed in that paper for all $n \ge 2$, the associated Euler--Lagrange equations admit Lipschitz weak solutions that are nowhere $C^1$ and satisfy zero boundary conditions in any bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^n$. Our approach relies on new building blocks constructed from the same wave cone and $\mathcal{T}_N$-configurations employed in the analysis of diffusion equations.

A piezoelectric beam model with nonlinear dampings and supercritical sources

This paper aims to investigate a three-dimensional fully magnetic effected piezoelectric beam model with strong sources and nonlinear interior dampings. By employing nonlinear semigroups and the theory of monotone operators, the existence of local weak solutions is established. By the potential well method, we obtain the global existence of potential well solutions. Decay rates of the total energy are obtained in terms of the behavior of the damping terms. The main advantage in this work is that the stabilization estimate does not generate lower-order terms, and in addition we remove some strong conditions in previous results to obtain a weaker energy decay. Finally, when the initial total energy is negative, positive but small, respectively, the blow-up results for weak solutions if the source terms are stronger than damping terms are obtained according to the differential inequality technique. Moreover, if interior dampings are linear, a blow-up result with arbitrarily high initial energy is established by the concavity method and an upper bound for the blow-up time is also derived. All results are independent of any relation among the model coefficients.

Stabilization for a degenerate wave equation with time-varying delay in the boundary control input

A degenerate wave equation with time-varying delay in the boundary control input is considered. The well-posedness of the system is established by applying the semigroup theory. The boundary stabilization of the degenerate wave equation is concerned and the uniform exponential decay of solutions is obtained by combining the energy estimates with suitable Lyapunov functionals and an integral inequality under suitable conditions.

On behavior of solutions to a Petrovsky equation with damping and variable-exponent source

This paper deals with the following Petrovsky equation with damping and nonlinear source \[u_{tt}+Δ^2 u-M(\|\nabla u\|_2^2)Δu-Δu_t+|u_t|^{m(x)-2}u_t=|u|^{p(x)-2}u\] under initial-boundary value conditions, where $M(s)=a+ bs^γ$ is a positive $C^1$ function with parameters $a>0,~b>0,~γ\geq 1$, and $m(x),~p(x)$ are given measurable functions. The upper bound of the blow-up time is derived for low initial energy using the differential inequality technique. For $m(x)\equiv2$, in particular, the upper bound of the blow-up time is obtained by the combination of Levine's concavity method and some differential inequalities under high initial energy. In addition, by making full use of the strong damping, the lower bound of the blow-up time is discussed. Moreover, the global existence of solutions and an energy decay estimate are presented by establishing some energy estimates and by exploiting a key integral inequality.

Asymptotic stability for a class of viscoelastic equations with general relaxation functions and the time delay

The goal of the present paper is to study the viscoelastic wave equation with the time delay \[ |u_t|^ρu_{tt}-Δu-Δu_{tt}+\int_0^tg(t-s)Δu(s)ds+μ_1u_t(x,t)+μ_2 u_t(x,t-τ)=b|u|^{p-2}u\] under initial boundary value conditions, where $ρ,~b,~μ_1$ are positive constants, $μ_2$ is a real number, $τ>0$ represents the time delay. By using the multiplier method together with some properties of the convex functions, the explicit and general stability results of energy are proved under the general assumption on the relaxation function $g$. This work generalizes and improves earlier results on the stability of the viscoelastic equations with the time delay in the literature.

Energy decay rates of solutions to a viscoelastic wave equation with variable exponents and weak damping

The goal of the present paper is to study the asymptotic behavior of solutions for the viscoelastic wave equation with variable exponents \[ u_{tt}-Δu+\int_0^tg(t-s)Δu(s)ds+a|u_t|^{m(x)-2}u_t=b|u|^{p(x)-2}u\] under initial-boundary condition, where the exponents $p(x)$ and $m(x)$ are given functions, and $a,~b>0$ are constants. More precisely, under the condition $g'(t)\le -ξ(t)g(t)$, here $ξ(t):\mathbb{R}^+\to\mathbb{R}^+$ is a non-increasing differential function with $ξ(0)>0,~\int_0^\inftyξ(s)ds=+\infty$, general decay results are derived. In addition, when $g$ decays polynomially, the exponential and polynomial decay rates are obtained as well, respectively. This work generalizes and improves earlier results in the literature.

Global existence and blow-up of solutions to a class of non-Newton filtration equations with singular potential and logarithmic nonlinearity

In this paper, a class of non-Newton filtration equations with singular potential and logarithmic nonlinearity under initial-boundary condition is investigated. Based on potential well method and Hardy-Sobolev inequality, the global existence of solutions is derived when the initial energy $J(u_0)$ is subcritical($J(u_0)<d$), critical($J(u_0)=d$) with $d$ being the mountain-pass level. Finite time blow-up results are obtained as well when the initial energy $J(u_0)$ satisfies specific conditions. Moreover, the upper and lower bounds of the blow-up time are given.

Classification of blow-up and global existence of solutions to an initial $\textrm{Neumann}$ problem

The aim of this paper is to apply the modified potential well method and some new differential inequalities to study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the initial homogeneous $\hbox{Neumann}$ problem of a nonlinear diffusion equation driven by the $p(x)$-\hbox{Laplace} operator. Complete classification of global existence and blow-up in finite time of solutions is given when the initial data satisfies different conditions. Roughly speaking, we obtain a threshold result for the solution to exist globally or to blow up in finite time when the initial energy is subcritical and critical, respectively. Further, the decay rate of the $L^2$ norm is also obtained for global solutions. Sufficient conditions for the existence of global and blow-up solutions are also provided for supercritical initial energy. At last, we give two-sided estimates of asymptotic behavior when the diffusion term dominates the source. This is a continuation of our previous work \cite{GG}.

On weak closure of some diffusion equations

We study the closure of approximating sequences of some diffusion equations under certain weak convergence. A specific description of the closure under weak $H^1$-convergence is given, which reduces to the original equation when the equation is parabolic. However, the closure under strong $L^2$-convergence may be much larger, even for parabolic equations.
