Jet Physics at the LHC in ALICE

The strong suppression of high-$p_T$ hadrons observed in heavy ion collisions at RHIC indicates the interaction of high energy partons with a dense colored medium prior to hadronization. We review the main results from the high-$p_T$ hadron analysis at RHIC and what they tell us about the medium. We then concentrate on the new possibilities that the wider kinematic range at the LHC will offer and how they will help us to better characterize the medium produced in these collisions.

Pion Interferometry in AuAu Collisions at sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV

We present preliminary results from a two-pion intensity interferometry analysis from Au+Au collisions at sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV measured in the STAR detector at RHIC. The dependence of the apparent pion source on multiplicity and transverse momentum are discussed and compared with preliminary results from d+Au and p+p collisions at the same beam energy.

Identical Particle Interferometry at STAR

We present preliminary results from a two-particle intensity interferometry analysis of charged pions and neutral kaons emitted from Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$= 130 and 200 GeV measured in the STAR detector at RHIC. The dependence of the apparent pion source on beam energy, multiplicity, transverse momentum and emission angle with respect to the reaction plane are discussed.
