Bibliometric Profile of an Emerging Journal: Participatory Educational Research

Participatory Educational Research journal is one of the journals that contributes to the field of education and indexed in major international databases such as ERIC and Scopus.This study provides the bibliometric characteristic of the total 347 articles published in PER during the period of 2014-2021 using bibliometric analysis. Publish or Perish software to collect citation data from Google Scholar was used as an analysis instrument for the impact of the articles.

Building Journal Impact Factor Quartile into the Assessment of Academic Performance: A Case Study

This study aims to provide information about the Q Concept defined as the division of journal impact factors into quartiles based on given field categories so that the disadvantages resulting from the direct use of journal impact factors can be eliminated. While the number of "Original articles published in the Web of Science (WoS) database-indexed journals like SCI, SSCI and A&HCI" is an important indicator for research assessment in Turkey, neither the journal impact factors nor the Q Concept of these papers have been taken into account. Present study analyzes the scientific production of the Amasya University researchers in journals indexed in WoS database in the period 2014-2018 using the Q concept. The share of publications by Q category journals as well as the average citations received by the works from Amasya University were compared to the average situation in Turkey and other different countries in the world. Results indicate that the articles published by Amasya University researchers were mostly published in low impact factor journals (Q4 journals) (36.49%), in fact, only a small share of papers were published in high impact journals (14.32% in Q1 journals). The share of papers published in low impact journals by researchers from Amasya University is higher than the Turkish average and much higher than the scientific leading countries. The average citations received by papers published in Q1 journals was around six times higher than papers published in Q4 journals (8.92 vs. 1.56), thus papers published in Q1 journals received 30.02% citations despite only 14.32% of the papers was published in these journals. The share of papers published which were never cited in WoS was 27.48%, increasing from 9.68% in Q1 to almost half (48.10%) in Q4. The study concludes with some suggestions on how and where the Q Concept can be used.

What does Hirsch index evolution explain us? A case study: Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The evolution of Turkish Journal of Chemistry (Turk J. Chem) Hirsch index (h-index) over the period 1995-2005 is studied and determined in the case of the self and without self-citations. It is seen that the effect of Hirsch index of Turk J. Chem has a highly positive trend during the last five years. It proves that Turk J. Chem is improving itself both in quantity and quality since h-index reflects peer review, and peer review reflects research quality of a journal.

Comment to Comment on Cartesian expressions for surface and regular solid spherical harmonics using binomial coefficients and its use in the evaluation of multicenter integrals

The comments of Guseinov on our recent paper (Czech. J. Phys., 52 (2002)1297) have been analyzed critically. It is shown that his comments are irrelevant and also unjust. In contrast to his comment, it is proved that the presented formulae in our study are original and obtained independently, not by changing by the summation indices. It should be stressed that our algorithm is not affected from possible instability problems and also can be used in large scale calculations without loss of significant figures. Meanwhile, his comment on the transformation of our formula into his formula proves the correctness of our algorithm and therefore can be regarded as a nice sound of science.

Response to Comment on Electric Multipole Moments for Some First-Row Diatomic Hydride Molecules [Commun. Theor. Phys. 38 (2002) 256]

The comment of Guseinov is irrelevant and also unjust. In contrast to his comment, we show that the obtained electric multipole moment values for some first-row diatomic molecules are original and better than his values (I.I. Guseinov, E. Akin, and A.M. Rzaeva, J. Mol. Struct. (Theochem) 453 (1998) 163) with respect to Hartree-Fock values. Moreover, it must be noted that all the formulas are cited in our paper (M. Orbay and T. Ozdogan, Commun. Theor. Phys. (Beijing, China) 35 (2001) 585) and corrigendum (M. Orbay and T. Ozdogan, Commun. Theor. Phys. (Beijing, China) 37 (2002) 768).
