Bipartite Gaussian Boson Sampling for Hamiltonian Cycles in Directed Graphs

Bipartite Gaussian boson sampling (BipartiteGBS) produces output probabilities governed by squared permanents of submatrices of arbitrary complex matrices, matching the nonsymmetric structure of directed graphs. Most GBS-based graph algorithms, however, rely on symmetric hafnian structure and are formulated for undirected problems. Here we propose a BipartiteGBS-based framework for directed-graph heuristic optimization. We introduce Max-Perm as a canonical optimization task for BipartiteGBS and derive a closed-form sampling enhancement factor relative to uniform classical sampling in this idealized setting. We then use permanent-biased BipartiteGBS samples to guide a genetic algorithm for the celebrated directed Hamiltonian cycle problem. Numerical experiments on Erd\H{o}s--R\'enyi random directed graphs show that the resulting BipartiteGBS-enhanced algorithms improve success rates over a standard genetic algorithm and yield longer valid paths when no Hamiltonian cycle is found, while ablation tests indicate that BipartiteGBS-guided initialization is the dominant contributor. These results show how permanent-based photonic sampling can provide useful algorithmic guidance for asymmetric combinatorial search.

Confidence interval estimation of mixed oil length with conditional diffusion model

Accurately estimating the mixed oil length plays a big role in the economic benefit for oil pipeline network. While various proposed methods have tried to predict the mixed oil length, they often exhibit an extremely high probability (around 50\%) of underestimating it. This is attributed to their failure to consider the statistical variability inherent in the estimated length of mixed oil. To address such issues, we propose to use the conditional diffusion model to learn the distribution of the mixed oil length given pipeline features. Subsequently, we design a confidence interval estimation for the length of the mixed oil based on the pseudo-samples generated by the learned diffusion model. To our knowledge, we are the first to present an estimation scheme for confidence interval of the oil-mixing length that considers statistical variability, thereby reducing the possibility of underestimating it. When employing the upper bound of the interval as a reference for excluding the mixed oil, the probability of underestimation can be as minimal as 5\%, a substantial reduction compared to 50\%. Furthermore, utilizing the mean of the generated pseudo samples as the estimator for the mixed oil length enhances prediction accuracy by at least 10\% compared to commonly used methods.

Robust Online Detection in Serially Correlated Directed Network

As the complexity of production processes increases, the diversity of data types drives the development of network monitoring technology. This paper mainly focuses on an online algorithm to detect serially correlated directed networks robustly and sensitively. First, we consider a transition probability matrix to resolve the double correlation of primary data. Further, since the sum of each row of the transition probability matrix is one, it standardizes the data, facilitating subsequent modeling. Then we extend the spring length based method to the multivariate case and propose an adaptive cumulative sum (CUSUM) control chart on the strength of a weighted statistic to monitor directed networks. This novel approach assumes only that the process observation is associated with nearby points without any parametric time series model, which is in line with reality. Simulation results and a real example from metro transportation demonstrate the superiority of our design.

Multilayer InSe-Te van der Waals heterostructures with ultrahigh rectification ratio and ultrasensitive photoresponse

Multilayer van der Waals (vdWs) semiconductors have great promising application in high-performance optoelectronic devices. However, the photoconductive photodetectors based on layered semiconductors often suffer from large dark current and high external driven bias voltage. Here, we report a vertical van der Waals heterostructures (vdWHs) consisting of multilayer indium selenide (InSe) and tellurium (Te). The multilayer InSe-Te vdWHs device shows a record high forward rectification ratio greater than 107 at room temperature. Furthermore, an ultrasensitive and broadband photoresponse photodetector is achieved by the vdWHs device with an ultrahigh photo/dark current ratio over 104, a high detectivity of 1013, and a comparable responsivity of 0.45 A/W under visible light illumination with weak incident power. Moreover, the vdWHs device has a photovoltaic effect and can function as a self-powered photodetector (SPPD). The SPPD is also ultrasensitive to the broadband spectra ranging from 300 nm to 1000 nm and is capable of detecting weak light signals. This work offers an opportunity to develop next-generation electronic and optoelectronic devices based on multilayer vdWs structures.
