On Asymptotic Properties of Certain $B$-Splines in Terms of Theta-like Functions

The asymptotic behavior of the Mellin transform of the associated $B$-splines $B_N^*(t) :=t^{-N}B_N(t)$ with special knots in terms of theta-like functions is found. The proof is based on polynomial interpolation of power functions and properties of certain theta-like functions. Pointwise asymptotics of $B_N^*$ and $B_N$ are discussed as well.

Discretization Theorems for Entire Functions of Exponential Type

We prove $L_q(\R^m)$--discretization inequalities for entire functions $f$ of exponential type in the form \ba C_2\|f\|_{L_q(\R^m)} \le \left(\sum_{ν=1}^\iy \left\vert f\left(X_ν\right) \right\vert^q\right)^{1/q} \le C_1\|f\|_{L_q(\R^m)},\qquad q\in[1,\iy], \ea with estimates for $C_1$ and $C_2$. We find a necessary and sufficient condition on $Ω=\left\{X_ν\right\}_{ν=1}^\iy\subset\R^m$ for the right inequality to be valid and a sufficient condition on $Ω$ for the left one to hold true. In addition, $L_\iy(Q^m_b)$-discretization inequalities on an $m$-dimensional cube are proved for entire functions of exponential type and exponential polynomials.

Sharp Constants of Approximation Theory. IV. Asymptotic Relations in General Settings

In this paper we first introduce the unified definition of the sharp constant that includes constants in three major problems of approximation theory, such as, inequalities for approximating elements, approximation of individual elements, and approximation on classes of elements. Second, we find sufficient conditions that imply limit relations between various sharp constants of approximation theory in general settings. Third, a number of examples from various areas of approximation theory illustrates the general approach.

Asymptotic Relations Between Interpolation Differences and Zeta Functions

Asymptotic relations between zeta functions (such as, $ζ(s),\,β(s)$, and other Dirichlet $L$-functions) and interpolation differences of functions like $\vert y\vert^s$ and their interpolating entire functions of exponential type $1$ are discussed. New criteria for zeros of the zeta functions in the critical strip in terms of integrability of the interpolation differences are obtained as well.

A Note on Sharp Multivariate Bernstein- and Markov-Type Inequalities

Let $V$ be a symmetric convex body in $\R^m$. We prove sharp Bernstein-type inequalities for entire functions of exponential type with the spectrum in $V$ and discuss certain properties of the extremal functions. Markov-type inequalities with sharp constants for algebraic polynomials on $V$ and certain non-symmetric convex bodies are proved as well.

Sharp Constants of Approximation Theory. II. Invariance Theorems and Certain Multivariate Inequalities of Different Metrics

We prove invariance theorems for general inequalities of different metrics and apply them to limit relations between the sharp constants in the multivariate Markov-Bernstein-Nikolskii type inequalities with the polyharmonic operator for algebraic polynomials on the unit sphere and the unit ball in $\R^m$ and the corresponding constants for entire functions of spherical type on $\R^m$. Certain relations in the univariate weighted spaces are discussed as well.
