Equivalent computational problems for superspecial abelian surfaces

We show reductions and equivalences between various problems related to the computation of the endomorphism ring of principally polarised superspecial abelian surfaces. Problems considered are the computation of the Ibukiyama-Katsura-Oort matrix and computation of unpolarised isomoprhisms between superspecial abelian surfaces.

Algebraic algorithms for vector bundles over curves

We represent vector bundles over a regular algebraic curve as pairs of lattices over the maximal orders of its function field and we give polynomial time algorithms for several tasks: computing determinants of vector bundles, kernels and images of global homomorphisms, isomorphisms between vector bundles, cohomology groups, extensions, and splitting into a direct sum of indecomposables. Most algorithms are deterministic except for computing isomorphisms when the base field is infinite. Some algorithms are only polynomial time if we may compute Hermite forms of pseudo-matrices in polynomial time. All algorithms rely exclusively on algebraic operations in function fields. For applications, we give an algorithm enumerating isomorphism classes of vector bundles on an elliptic curve, and to construct algebraic geometry codes over vector bundles. We implement all our algorithms into a SageMath package.

Efficient computations in central simple algebras using Amitsur cohomology

We present an efficient computational representation of central simple algebras using Brauer factor sets. Using this representation and polynomial quantum algorithms for number theoretical tasks such as factoring and $S$-unit group computation, we give a polynomial quantum algorithm for the explicit isomorphism problem over number field, which relies on a heuristic concerning the irreducibility of the characteristic polynomial of a random matrix with algebraic integer coefficients. We present another version of the algorithm which does not need any heuristic but which is only polynomial if the degree of the input algebra is bounded.

Explicit isomorphisms of quaternion algebras over quadratic global fields

Let $L$ be a separable quadratic extension of either $\mathbb{Q}$ or $\mathbb{F}_q(t)$. We propose efficient algorithms for finding isomorphisms between quaternion algebras over $L$. Our techniques are based on computing maximal one-sided ideals of the corestriction of a central simple $L$-algebra.

Finding nontrivial zeros of quadratic forms over rational function fields of characteristic 2

We propose polynomial-time algorithms for finding nontrivial zeros of quadratic forms with four variables over rational function fields of characteristic 2. We apply these results to find prescribed quadratic subfields of quaternion division division algebras and zero divisors in $M_2(D)$, the full matrix algebra over a division algebra, given by structure constants. We also provide an implementation of our results in MAGMA which shows that the algorithms are truly practical.
