Equidistribution of currents under Anosov group actions

We study the behavior of currents on flag-manifolds under actions of Anosov subgroups of complex semisimple Lie groups G. Given a current T of bidimension (k, k) on the full flag-manifold F = G/B, we average it under the group action via a construction analogous to the construction of Patterson-Sullivan measures. We show that under certain genericity conditions (in the case of currents of integration over subvarieties), the limiting current is a Gibbs current, i.e. is given by integration (with respect to a Gibbs measure) over the flag-limit set of suitable multiples of currents of integration along Schubert varieties based at the limit points of the group. We prove that the same equidistribution result (but without any genericity assumptions) for currents defined by smooth forms on F. We also prove a form of Axiom A property for the suspension flow of the group action on F.

MLC for parabolically bounded primitive renormalization

We prove $\textit{a priori}$ bounds and MLC (local connectivity of the Mandelbrot set $\mathcal{M}$) for a class of infinitely renormalizable parameters whose renormalization type is primitive but can approach the cusp of $\mathcal{M}$. To this end we develop and refine a variety of tools that allow us to control degeneration of renormalizations. They include the Thin-Thick Decomposition, the Value Calculus, the Wanderers Theorem, and the Wave Lemma.

Uniform a priori bounds for neutral renormalization. Variation II: $\psi^\bullet$-ql Siegel maps

We extend uniform pseudo-Siegel bounds for neutral quadratic polynomials to $\psi^\bullet$-quadratic-like Siegel maps. In this form, the bounds are compatible with the $\psi$-quadratic-like renormalization theory and are easily transferable to various families of rational maps. The main theorem states that the degeneration of a Siegel disk is equidistributed among combinatorial intervals. This provides a precise description of how the $\psi^\bullet$-quadratic-like structure degenerates around the Siegel disk on all geometric scales except on the ``transitional scales'' between two specific combinatorial levels.

Antiholomorphic correspondences and mating II: Shabat polynomial slices

We study natural one-parameter families of antiholomorphic correspondences arising from univalent restrictions of Shabat polynomials, indexed by rooted dessin d'enfants. We prove that the parameter spaces are topological quadrilaterals, giving a partial description of the univalency loci for the uniformizing Shabat polynomials. We show that the escape loci of our parameter spaces are naturally (real-analytically) uniformized by disks. We proceed with designing a puzzle structure (dual to the indexing dessin) for non-renormalizable maps, yielding combinatorial rigidity in these classes. Then we develop a renormalization theory for pinched (anti-)polynomial-like maps in order to describe all combinatorial Multibrot and Multicorn copies contained in our connectedness loci (a curious feature of these parameter spaces is the presence of multiple period one copies). Finally, we construct locally connected combinatorial models for the connectedness loci into which the indexing dessins naturally embed.

Quantitative Estimates on Invariant Manifolds for Surface Diffeomorphisms

We carry out a detailed quantitative analysis on the geometry of invariant manifolds for smooth dissipative systems in dimension two. We begin by quantifying the regularity of any orbit (finite or infinite) in the phase space with a set of explicit inequalities. Then we relate this directly to the quasi-linearization of the local dynamics on regular neighborhoods of this orbit. The parameters of regularity explicitly determine the sizes of the regular neighborhoods and the smooth norms of the corresponding regular charts. As a corollary, we establish the existence of smooth stable and center manifolds with uniformly bounded geometries for regular orbits independently of any pre-existing invariant measure. This provides us with the technical background for the renormalization theory of H\'enon-like maps developed in the sequel papers.

A Priori Bounds for H\'enon-like Renormalization

We formulate and prove $\textit{a priori}$ bounds for the renormalization of H\'enon-like maps (under certain regularity assumptions). This provides a certain uniform control on the small-scale geometry of the dynamics, and ensures pre-compactness of the renormalization sequence. In a sequel to this paper, a priori bounds are used in the proof of the main results, including renormalization convergence, finite-time checkability of the required regularity conditions and regular unicriticality of the dynamics.

Antiholomorphic correspondences and mating I: realization theorems

In this paper, we bring together four different branches of antiholomorphic dynamics: of global anti-rational maps, reflection groups, Schwarz reflections in quadrature domains, and antiholomorphic correspondences. We establish the first general realization theorems for bi-degree $d$:$d$ correspondences on the Riemann sphere (for $d\geq 2$) as matings of maps and groups. To achieve this, we introduce and study the dynamics of a general class of antiholomorphic correspondences; i.e., multi-valued maps with antiholomorphic local branches. Such correspondences are closely related to a class of single-valued antiholomorphic maps in one complex variable; namely, Schwarz reflection maps of simply connected quadrature domains. Using this connection, we prove that matings of all parabolic antiholomorphic rational maps with connected Julia sets (of arbitrary degree) and antiholomorphic analogues of Hecke groups can be realized as such correspondences. We also draw the same conclusion when parabolic maps are replaced with critically non-recurrent antiholomorphic polynomials with connected Julia sets.

A general dynamical theory of Schwarz reflections, B-involutions, and algebraic correspondences

In this paper, we study matings of (anti-)polynomials and Fuchsian, reflection groups as Schwarz reflections, B-involutions or as (anti-)holomorphic correspondences, as well as their parameter spaces. We prove the existence of matings of generic (anti-)polynomials, such as periodically repelling, or geometrically finite (anti-)polynomials, with circle maps arising from the corresponding groups. These matings emerge naturally as degenerate (anti-)polynomial-like maps, and we show that the corresponding parameter space slices for such matings bear strong resemblance with parameter spaces of polynomial maps. Furthermore, we provide algebraic descriptions for these matings, and construct algebraic correspondences that combine generic (anti-)polynomials and genus zero orbifolds in a common dynamical plane, providing a new concrete evidence to Fatou's vision of a unified theory of groups and maps.

Mating parabolic rational maps with Hecke groups

We prove that any degree $d$ rational map having a parabolic fixed point of multiplier $1$ with a fully invariant and simply connected immediate basin of attraction is mateable with the Hecke group $H_{d+1}$, with the mating realized by an algebraic correspondence. This confirms the parabolic version of a conjecture on mateability between rational maps and Hecke groups made in \cite{BF1}. The proof is in two steps. The first is the construction of a pinched polynomial-like map which is a mating between a parabolic rational map and a parabolic circle map associated to the Hecke group. The second is lifting this pinched polynomial-like map to an algebraic correspondence via a suitable branched covering.

Renormalization of Unicritical Diffeomorphisms of the Disk

We introduce a class of infinitely renormalizable, unicritical diffeomorphisms of the disk (with a non-degenerate "critical point"). In this class of dynamical systems, we show that under renormalization, maps eventually become Hénon-like, and then converge super-exponentially fast to the space of one-dimensional unimodal maps. We also completely characterize the local geometry of every stable and center manifolds that exist in these systems. The theory is based upon a quantitative reformulation of the Oseledets-Pesin theory yielding a unicritical structure of the maps in question comprising regular Pesin boxes co-existing with "critical tunnels" and "valuable crescents". In forthcoming notes we will show that infinitely renormalizable perturbative Hénon-like maps of bounded type belong to our class.

Mirrors of conformal dynamics: Interplay between anti-rational maps, reflection groups, Schwarz reflections, and correspondences

The goal of this survey is to present intimate interactions between four branches of conformal dynamics: iterations of anti-rational maps, actions of Kleinian reflection groups, dynamics generated by Schwarz reflections in quadrature domains, and algebraic correspondences. We start with several examples of Schwarz reflections as well as algebraic correspondences obtained by matings between anti-rational maps and reflection groups, and examples of Julia set realizations for limit sets of reflection groups (including classical Apollonian-like gaskets). We follow up these examples with dynamical relations between explicit Schwarz reflection parameter spaces and parameter spaces of anti-rational maps and of reflection groups. These are complemented by a number of general results and illustrations of important technical tools, such as David surgery and straightening techniques. We also collect several analytic applications of the above theory.

Structure of hyperbolic polynomial automorphisms of C^2 with disconnected Julia sets

For a hyperbolic polynomial automorphism of C^2 with a disconnected Julia set, and under a mild dissipativity condition, we give a topological description of the components of the Julia set. Namely, there are finitely many "quasi-solenoids" that govern the asymptotic behavior of the orbits of all non-trivial components. This can be viewed as a refined Spectral Decomposition for a hyperbolic map, as well as a two-dimensional version of the (generalized) Branner-Hubbard theory in one-dimensional polynomial dynamics. An important geometric ingredient of the theory is a John-like property of the Julia set in the unstable leaves.

MLC at Feigenbaum points

We prove a priori bounds for Feigenbaum quadratic polynomials, i.e., infinitely renormalizable polynomials $f_c: z\mapsto z^2+c$ of bounded type. It implies local connectivity of the corresponding Julia sets $J(f_c)$ and MLC (local connectivity of the Mandelbrot set) at the corresponding parameters $c$. It also yields the scaling Universality, dynamical and parameter, for the corresponding combinatorics. The MLC Conjecture was open for the most classical period-doubling Feigenbaum parameter as well as for the complex tripling renormalizations. Universality for the latter was conjectured by Goldberg-Khanin-Sinai in the early 1980s.

Local connectivity of the Mandelbrot set at some satellite parameters of bounded type

We explore geometric properties of the Mandelbrot set M, and the corresponding Julia sets J_c, near the main cardioid. Namely, we establish that: a) M is locally connected at certain infinitely renormalizable parameters c of bounded satellite type, providing first examples of this kind; b) The Julia sets J_c are also locally connected and have positive area; c) M is self-similar near Siegel parameters of constant type. We approach these problems by analyzing the unstable manifold of the pacman renormalization operator constructed in [DLS] as a global transcendental family.

On Dynamical Gaskets Generated by Rational Maps, Kleinian Groups, and Schwarz Reflections

According to the Circle Packing Theorem, any triangulation of the Riemann sphere can be realized as a nerve of a circle packing. Reflections in the dual circles generate a Kleinian group $H$ whose limit set is an Apollonian-like gasket $Λ_H$. We design a surgery that relates $H$ to a rational map $g$ whose Julia set $\mathcal{J}_g$ is (non-quasiconformally) homeomorphic to $Λ_H$. We show for a large class of triangulations, however, the groups of quasisymmetries of $Λ_H$ and $\mathcal{J}_g$ are isomorphic and coincide with the corresponding groups of self-homeomorphisms. Moreover, in the case of $H$, this group is equal to the group of Möbius symmetries of $Λ_H$, which is the semi-direct product of $H$ itself and the group of Möbius symmetries of the underlying circle packing. In the case of the tetrahedral triangulation (when $Λ_ H$ is the classical Apollonian gasket), we give a piecewise affine model for the above actions which is quasiconformally equivalent to $g$ and produces $H$ by a David surgery. We also construct a mating between the group and the map coexisting in the same dynamical plane and show that it can be generated by Schwarz reflections in the deltoid and the inscribed circle.

Uniform a priori bounds for neutral renormalization

We prove uniform ``pseudo-Siegel'' a priori bounds for Siegel disks of bounded type that give a uniform control of oscillations of their boundaries in all scales. As a consequence, we construct the Mother Hedgehog controlling the postcritical set for any quadratic polynomial with a neutral periodic point and show that this hedgehog has a star-like structure. Pseudo-Siegel bounds imply uniform a priori bounds of the Sector Renormalization, which gives an opportunity to extend Siegel/Pacman Renormalization Theory and Near-Parabolic Renormalization Theory to all near-neutral quadratic polynomials. Various applications beyond quadratic polynomials are also underway.

Schwarz reflections and anti-holomorphic correspondences

In this paper, we continue exploration of the dynamical and parameter planes of one-parameter families of Schwarz reflections that was initiated in \cite{LLMM1,LLMM2}. Namely, we consider a family of quadrature domains obtained by restricting the Chebyshev cubic polynomial to various univalent discs. Then we perform a quasiconformal surgery that turns these reflections to parabolic rational maps (which is the crucial technical ingredient of our theory). It induces a straightening map between the parameter plane of Schwarz reflections and the parabolic Tricorn. We describe various properties of this straightening highlighting the issues related to its anti-holomorphic nature. We complete the discussion by comparing our family with the classical Bullett-Penrose family of matings between groups and rational maps induced by holomorphic correspondences. More precisely, we show that the Schwarz reflections give rise to anti-holomorphic correspondences that are matings of parabolic anti-rational maps with the abstract modular group. We further illustrate our mating framework by studying the correspondence associated with the Schwarz reflection map of a deltoid.

Self-similar groups and holomorphic dynamics: Renormalization, integrability, and spectrum

In this paper, we explore the spectral measures of the Laplacian on Schreier graphs for several self-similar groups (the Grigorchuk, Lamplighter, and Hanoi groups) from the dynamical and algebro-geometric viewpoints. For these graphs, classical Schur renormalization transformations act on appropriate spectral parameters as rational maps in two variables. We show that the spectra in question can be interpreted as asymptotic distributions of slices by a line of iterated pullbacks of certain algebraic curves under the corresponding rational maps (leading us to a notion of a spectral current). We follow up with a dynamical criterion for discreteness of the spectrum. In case of discrete spectrum, the precise rate of convergence of finite-scale approximands to the limiting spectral measure is given. For the three groups under consideration, the corresponding rational maps happen to be fibered over polynomials in one variable. We reveal the algebro-geometric nature of this integrability phenomenon.
