AutoCAP: Towards Automatic Cross-lingual Alignment Planning for Zero-shot Chain-of-Thought

Cross-lingual chain-of-thought can effectively complete reasoning tasks across languages, which gains increasing attention. Recently, dominant approaches in the literature improve cross-lingual alignment capabilities by integrating reasoning knowledge from different languages. Despite achieving excellent performance, current methods still have two main challenges: (1) Manual language specification: They still highly rely on manually selecting the languages to integrate, severely affecting their generalizability; (2) Static weight allocation: Current methods simply integrate all languages equally. In fact, different language reasoning paths should have different weights to achieve better complementation and integration. Motivated by this, we introduce an Automatic Cross-lingual Alignment Planning (AutoCAP) for zero-shot chain-of-thought to address the above challenges. The core of AutoCAP consists of two components: (1) Automatic Language Selection Prompting to guide LLMs to select appropriate languages and (2) Automatic Weight Allocation Prompting to automatically allocate alignment weight scores to each reasoning path. Extensive experiments on several benchmarks reveal that AutoCAP achieves state-of-the-art performance, surpassing previous methods that required manual effort.

IR2QSM: Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping via Deep Neural Networks with Iterative Reverse Concatenations and Recurrent Modules

Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) is an MRI phase-based post-processing technique to extract the distribution of tissue susceptibilities, demonstrating significant potential in studying neurological diseases. However, the ill-conditioned nature of dipole inversion makes QSM reconstruction from the tissue field prone to noise and artifacts. In this work, we propose a novel deep learning-based IR2QSM method for QSM reconstruction. It is designed by iterating four times of a reverse concatenations and middle recurrent modules enhanced U-net, which could dramatically improve the efficiency of latent feature utilization. Simulated and in vivo experiments were conducted to compare IR2QSM with several traditional algorithms (MEDI and iLSQR) and state-of-the-art deep learning methods (U-net, xQSM, and LPCNN). The results indicated that IR2QSM was able to obtain QSM images with significantly increased accuracy and mitigated artifacts over other methods. Particularly, IR2QSM demonstrated on average the best NRMSE (27.59%) in simulated experiments, which is 15.48%, 7.86%, 17.24%, 9.26%, and 29.13% lower than iLSQR, MEDI, U-net, xQSM, LPCNN, respectively, and led to improved QSM results with fewer artifacts for the in vivo data.

The uniform existence time and Zero-Alpha limit problem of the Euler-Poincaré equations

We consider the Cauchy problem of the Euler-Poincaré equations in $\mathbb{R}^d$ with a varying dispersion parameter $α$. Based on the convex entropy structure and the modified commutator estimates, we have proved that the Euler-Poincaré equations have a uniform existence time with respect to $α$ in Sobolev spaces $H^s.$ Combined with the Bona-Simth method, we obtain convergence of the solutions to the Euler-Poincaré equations as $α\to 0$ in the same space where the initial data are located.

Leveraging Visual Tokens for Extended Text Contexts in Multi-Modal Learning

Training models with longer in-context lengths is a significant challenge for multimodal model due to substantial GPU memory and computational costs. This exploratory study does not present state-of-the-art models; rather, it introduces an innovative method designed to increase in-context text length in multi-modality large language models (MLLMs) efficiently. We present Visualized In-Context Text Processing (VisInContext), which processes long in-context text using visual tokens. This technique significantly reduces GPU memory usage and floating point operations (FLOPs) for both training and inferenceing stage. For instance, our method expands the pre-training in-context text length from 256 to 2048 tokens with nearly same FLOPs for a 56 billion parameter MOE model. Experimental results demonstrate that model trained with VisInContext delivers superior performance on common downstream benchmarks for in-context few-shot evaluation. Additionally, VisInContext is complementary to existing methods for increasing in-context text length and enhances document understanding capabilities, showing great potential in document QA tasks and sequential document retrieval.

Test generation has been a critical and labor-intensive process in hardware design verification. Recently, the emergence of Large Language Model (LLM) with their advanced understanding and inference capabilities, has introduced a novel approach. In this work, we investigate the integration of LLM into the Coverage Directed Test Generation (CDG) process, where the LLM functions as a Verilog Reader. It accurately grasps the code logic, thereby generating stimuli that can reach unexplored code branches. We compare our framework with random testing, using our self-designed Verilog benchmark suite. Experiments demonstrate that our framework outperforms random testing on designs within the LLM's comprehension scope. Our work also proposes prompt engineering optimizations to augment LLM's understanding scope and accuracy.

Tunable moiré bandgap in hBN-aligned bilayer graphene device with in-situ electrostatic gating

Over the years, great efforts have been devoted in introducing a sizable and tunable band gap in graphene for its potential application in next-generation electronic devices. The primary challenge in modulating this gap has been the absence of a direct method for observing changes of the band gap in momentum space. In this study, we employ advanced spatial- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy technique to directly visualize the gap formation in bilayer graphene, modulated by both displacement fields and moiré potentials. The application of displacement field via in-situ electrostatic gating introduces a sizable and tunable electronic bandgap, proportional to the field strength up to 100 meV. Meanwhile, the moiré potential, induced by aligning the underlying hexagonal boron nitride substrate, extends the bandgap by ~ 20 meV. Theoretical calculations, effectively capture the experimental observations. Our investigation provides a quantitative understanding of how these two mechanisms collaboratively modulate the band gap in bilayer graphene, offering valuable guidance for the design of graphene-based electronic devices.

The Dawn of AI-Native EDA: Opportunities and Challenges of Large Circuit Models

Within the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) domain, AI-driven solutions have emerged as formidable tools, yet they typically augment rather than redefine existing methodologies. These solutions often repurpose deep learning models from other domains, such as vision, text, and graph analytics, applying them to circuit design without tailoring to the unique complexities of electronic circuits. Such an AI4EDA approach falls short of achieving a holistic design synthesis and understanding, overlooking the intricate interplay of electrical, logical, and physical facets of circuit data. This paper argues for a paradigm shift from AI4EDA towards AI-native EDA, integrating AI at the core of the design process. Pivotal to this vision is the development of a multimodal circuit representation learning technique, poised to provide a comprehensive understanding by harmonizing and extracting insights from varied data sources, such as functional specifications, RTL designs, circuit netlists, and physical layouts. We champion the creation of large circuit models (LCMs) that are inherently multimodal, crafted to decode and express the rich semantics and structures of circuit data, thus fostering more resilient, efficient, and inventive design methodologies. Embracing this AI-native philosophy, we foresee a trajectory that transcends the current innovation plateau in EDA, igniting a profound shift-left in electronic design methodology. The envisioned advancements herald not just an evolution of existing EDA tools but a revolution, giving rise to novel instruments of design tools that promise to radically enhance design productivity and inaugurate a new epoch where the optimization of circuit performance, power, and area (PPA) is achieved not incrementally, but through leaps that redefine the benchmarks of electronic systems' capabilities.

Design and Optimization of Cooperative Sensing With Limited Backhaul Capacity

This paper introduces a cooperative sensing framework designed for integrated sensing and communication cellular networks. The framework comprises one base station (BS) functioning as the sensing transmitter, while several nearby BSs act as sensing receivers. The primary objective is to facilitate cooperative target localization by enabling each receiver to share specific information with a fusion center (FC) over a limited capacity backhaul link. To achieve this goal, we propose an advanced cooperative sensing design that enhances the communication process between the receivers and the FC. Each receiver independently estimates the time delay and the reflecting coefficient associated with the reflected path from the target. Subsequently, each receiver transmits the estimated values and the received signal samples centered around the estimated time delay to the FC. To efficiently quantize the signal samples, a Karhunen-Loève Transform coding scheme is employed. Furthermore, an optimization problem is formulated to allocate backhaul resources for quantizing different samples, improving target localization. Numerical results validate the effectiveness of our proposed advanced design and demonstrate its superiority over a baseline design, where only the locally estimated values are transmitted from each receiver to the FC.

Plug-and-Play Latent Feature Editing for Orientation-Adaptive Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping Neural Networks

Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) is a post-processing technique for deriving tissue magnetic susceptibility distribution from MRI phase measurements. Deep learning (DL) algorithms hold great potential for solving the ill-posed QSM reconstruction problem. However, a significant challenge facing current DL-QSM approaches is their limited adaptability to magnetic dipole field orientation variations during training and testing. In this work, we propose a novel Orientation-Adaptive Latent Feature Editing (OA-LFE) module to learn the encoding of acquisition orientation vectors and seamlessly integrate them into the latent features of deep networks. Importantly, it can be directly Plug-and-Play (PnP) into various existing DL-QSM architectures, enabling reconstructions of QSM from arbitrary magnetic dipole orientations. Its effectiveness is demonstrated by combining the OA-LFE module into our previously proposed phase-to-susceptibility single-step instant QSM (iQSM) network, which was initially tailored for pure-axial acquisitions. The proposed OA-LFE-empowered iQSM, which we refer to as iQSM+, is trained in a self-supervised manner on a specially-designed simulation brain dataset. Comprehensive experiments are conducted on simulated and in vivo human brain datasets, encompassing subjects ranging from healthy individuals to those with pathological conditions. These experiments involve various MRI platforms (3T and 7T) and aim to compare our proposed iQSM+ against several established QSM reconstruction frameworks, including the original iQSM. The iQSM+ yields QSM images with significantly improved accuracies and mitigates artifacts, surpassing other state-of-the-art DL-QSM algorithms.

MV-ROPE: Multi-view Constraints for Robust Category-level Object Pose and Size Estimation

Recently there has been a growing interest in category-level object pose and size estimation, and prevailing methods commonly rely on single view RGB-D images. However, one disadvantage of such methods is that they require accurate depth maps which cannot be produced by consumer-grade sensors. Furthermore, many practical real-world situations involve a moving camera that continuously observes its surroundings, and the temporal information of the input video streams is simply overlooked by single-view methods. We propose a novel solution that makes use of RGB video streams. Our framework consists of three modules: a scale-aware monocular dense SLAM solution, a lightweight object pose predictor, and an object-level pose graph optimizer. The SLAM module utilizes a video stream and additional scale-sensitive readings to estimate camera poses and metric depth. The object pose predictor then generates canonical object representations from RGB images. The object pose is estimated through geometric registration of these canonical object representations with estimated object depth points. All per-view estimates finally undergo optimization within a pose graph, culminating in the output of robust and accurate canonical object poses. Our experimental results demonstrate that when utilizing public dataset sequences with high-quality depth information, the proposed method exhibits comparable performance to state-of-the-art RGB-D methods. We also collect and evaluate on new datasets containing depth maps of varying quality to further quantitatively benchmark the proposed method alongside previous RGB-D based methods. We demonstrate a significant advantage in scenarios where depth input is absent or the quality of depth sensing is limited.

Coherent Phonon Control of Ultrafast Magnetization Dynamics in Fe$_\text{3}$GeTe$_\text{2}$ from Time-Dependent Ab Initio Theory

Exploring ultrafast magnetization control in two-dimensional (2D) magnets through optically driven coherent phonons has been well-established. Yet, the microscopic interplay between spin dynamics and lattice degrees of freedom remains less explored. Employing real-time time-dependent density functional theory (rt-TDDFT) coupled with Ehrenfest dynamics, we systematically investigate laser-induced spin-nuclei dynamics with coherent phonon excitation in the 2D ferromagnet Fe3GeTe2. We found that selectively pre-exciting three typical coherent phonon modes results in up to a 53% additional spin moment loss in an out-of-plane A2 1g mode within ~50 fs. Coherent phonon control of spin dynamics is closely linked to laser pulse parameters. The underlying microscopic mechanism of this phenomenon is primarily governed by coherent phonon-induced asymmetric spin-resolved charge transfer following the disappearance of the laser pulse, thereby enabling effective control of the spin moment loss. Our findings offer a novel insight into the coupling of coherent phonons with spin systems in 2D limits on femtosecond timescales.

Well-posedness and no-uniform dependence for the Euler-Poincaré equations in Triebel-Lizorkin spaces

In this paper, we study the Cauchy problem of the Euler-Poincaré equations in $\R^d$ with initial data belonging to the Triebel-Lizorkin spaces. We prove the local-in-time unique existence of solutions to the Euler-Poincaré equations in $F^s_{p,r}(\R^d)$. Furthermore, we obtain that the data-to-solution of this equation is continuous but not uniformly continuous in these spaces.

SATformer: Transformer-Based UNSAT Core Learning

This paper introduces SATformer, a novel Transformer-based approach for the Boolean Satisfiability (SAT) problem. Rather than solving the problem directly, SATformer approaches the problem from the opposite direction by focusing on unsatisfiability. Specifically, it models clause interactions to identify any unsatisfiable sub-problems. Using a graph neural network, we convert clauses into clause embeddings and employ a hierarchical Transformer-based model to understand clause correlation. SATformer is trained through a multi-task learning approach, using the single-bit satisfiability result and the minimal unsatisfiable core (MUC) for UNSAT problems as clause supervision. As an end-to-end learning-based satisfiability classifier, the performance of SATformer surpasses that of NeuroSAT significantly. Furthermore, we integrate the clause predictions made by SATformer into modern heuristic-based SAT solvers and validate our approach with a logic equivalence checking task. Experimental results show that our SATformer can decrease the runtime of existing solvers by an average of 21.33%.

Optimal Rejection of Bounded Perturbations in Linear Leader-Following Consensus Protocol: Method Invariant Ellipsoid

The objective of the invariant ellipsoid method is to minimize the smallest invariant and attractive set of a linear control system operating under the influence of bounded external disturbances. In this paper, this method is extended into the leader-following consensus problem. Initially, a linear control protocol is designed for the Multi-agent System without disturbances. Subsequently, in the presence of bounded disturbances, by employing a similar linear control protocol, a necessary and sufficient condition is introduced to derive the optimal control parameters for the MAS such that the state of followers converge and remain in an minimal invariant ellipsoid around the state of the leader.

Dark Count of 20-inch PMTs Generated by Natural Radioactivity

The primary objective of the JUNO experiment is to determine the ordering of neutrino masses using a 20-kton liquid-scintillator detector. The 20-inch photomultiplier tube (PMT) plays a crucial role in achieving excellent energy resolution of at least 3% at 1 MeV. Understanding the characteristics and features of the PMT is vital for comprehending the detector's performance, particularly regarding the occurrence of large pulses in PMT dark counts. This research paper aims to further investigate the origin of these large pulses in the 20-inch PMT dark count rate through measurements and simulations. The findings confirm that the main sources of the large pulses are natural radioactivity and muons striking the PMT glass. By analyzing the PMT dark count rate spectrum, it becomes possible to roughly estimate the radioactivity levels in the surrounding environment.

The failure of Hölder regularity of solutions for the Euler-Poincaré equations in Besov spaces

In this paper, we investigate the continuity of solution to the Euler-Poincaré equations. We show that the continuity of the solution cannot be improved to the Hölder continuity. That is, the solution of the Euler-Poincaré equations with initial data $u_0\in B^s_{p,r}$ belongs to $\mathcal{C}([0,T];B^s_{p,r}(\mathbb R^d))$ but not to $\mathcal{C}^α([0,T];B^s_{p,r}(\mathbb R^d))$ with any $α\in(0,1)$.

Localization of Dummy Data Injection Attacks in Power Systems Considering Incomplete Topological Information: A Spatio-Temporal Graph Wavelet Convolutional Neural Network Approach

The emergence of novel the dummy data injection attack (DDIA) poses a severe threat to the secure and stable operation of power systems. These attacks are particularly perilous due to the minimal Euclidean spatial separation between the injected malicious data and legitimate data, rendering their precise detection challenging using conventional distance-based methods. Furthermore, existing research predominantly focuses on various machine learning techniques, often analyzing the temporal data sequences post-attack or relying solely on Euclidean spatial characteristics. Unfortunately, this approach tends to overlook the inherent topological correlations within the non-Euclidean spatial attributes of power grid data, consequently leading to diminished accuracy in attack localization. To address this issue, this study takes a comprehensive approach. Initially, it examines the underlying principles of these new DDIAs on power systems. Here, an intricate mathematical model of the DDIA is designed, accounting for incomplete topological knowledge and alternating current (AC) state estimation from an attacker's perspective. Subsequently, by integrating a priori knowledge of grid topology and considering the temporal correlations within measurement data and the topology-dependent attributes of the power grid, this study introduces temporal and spatial attention matrices. These matrices adaptively capture the spatio-temporal correlations within the attacks. Leveraging gated stacked causal convolution and graph wavelet sparse convolution, the study jointly extracts spatio-temporal DDIA features. Finally, the research proposes a DDIA localization method based on spatio-temporal graph neural networks. The accuracy and effectiveness of the DDIA model are rigorously demonstrated through comprehensive analytical cases.
